Thanks NetGalley and Wattpad for an advance ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a cute story and different. It was from the MMC point of view. Bronx is the popular quarterback playboy at his college who gets whatever he wants. He's on his way to get drafted in the NFL. Olivia is a nice quiet smart and shy pre-med student who plans to become a heart surgeon. It's love at first sight for Bronx when they are paired to be lab partners in their Anatomy lab. After he fails his first quiz Bronx gets Olivia to tutor him and they start to get closer the more time they spend together but they both have past scars they keep secret and also other people who are trying to keep them apart.

I wasn't sure where this story was going in the beginning but I couldn't put it down! I had to know what was going happen next. I really enjoyed it. This story does end in a happy ever after.

At first you think this is going to be a pretty typical romance. However, I was intrigued when I realized this was written from the perspective of the MMC. It was refreshing to read from his perspective.

Bronx is complicated, moody, and appears to be a very typical male. Olivia brings out something in him he didn’t know he was missing. It kind of reminded me of the movie A Walk To Remember, minus the cancer and add in some steam.

I think this will draw many readers! I definitely will read from this author again!

I DNF’d this book at 11%. Unfortunately it’s too redundant of a story that has already been rehashed millions of times with zero depth or nuance added. The most unique and drawing factor of the story is that it’s told solely through the MMC’s pov—genuinely the best part, I love seeing MMC pov in books. But, the POV quickly loses its shine when you read about him hooking up with 2 other girls within the first handful of chapters. It definitely reads as a Wattpad story that would have dominated 10-12 years ago, but that doesn’t always make for a compelling published novel.

2.5⭐️

I rated this a 4.75 stars!
I absolutely loved the concept of this book where it was in the POV of the MMC!
I loved the story how it had so many twist and turns that instantly made me become enthralled into Bronx and Olivia’s story.
I think having it in Bronx’s POV made us understand how the MMC was really feeling and not us instantly becoming biased even if sometimes we did feel a bias towards Olivia.
I’ve previously read this book on wattpad before it became a book, so coming into this made me feel nostalgic and knowing I was entering int something I was familiar with.
I honestly really liked this book but I also understand why many do not like it mostly with the pacing as it felt like everything was going too fast or everything was going just a bit too slow, and I am not talking about the relationship. I also felt as if there was a lot of repetition during many parts of the book.
I think that Bronx and Olivia had a good dynamic that was very justifiable. They were not toxic and genuinely felt like the relationship wasn’t forced as they formed a connection through Anatomy.
I did feel as if it started out very wattpaddy which makes sense but also I think it needed some editing in to done in that department.
Overall: I will be rereading this book because of how much it really kept my attention! I was not expecting to receive this ARC but I am very honored to have been given the chance to be one of the first to read it!

Scars of Anatomy is the debut novel from Nicole Alfrine and I can't wait for more. Bronx and Olivia's story is so adorable, I didn't want to put this book down once I started reading but I also didn't want the story to end. I highly recommend this college sports romance.

A cute romance written from the guy's perspective! I enjoy a cute opposites-attract moment. As someone who works in higher education, it was nice to see such realistic portrayal of university life (mundane details like checking grades on the exam portal, how campus food is tasteless, the stress of medical school application) in the book. It made it so much more engaging.

Bronx's growth over the book was really lovely. I feel like Olivia's backstory was a total plot twist, and I was reminded of another great book, Searching for David's Heart: A Christmas Story, which has a similar tear-jerking plotline.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! I really enjoyed this book.

Oof, I made it to 30% and gave up. There’s zero chemistry between Olivia and Bronx and literally NOTHING is happening. Also, it feels like this book is written by someone 50+ that doesn’t get college aged people today. There are random outdated sayings, like “hiya hot stuff” , “what am I, chopped liver” and “Exactamundo” I’m an elder Millennial and even I found the language sounded outdated for a “contemporary” romance. Plus there’s not a single laptop mentioned and someone copied someone else’s notes. Does e-mail not exist in this world? It feels like High School in the 90’s.

I finished this book on one rainy Sunday from cover to cover. I loved the characters! This is the first romance book I've read soley told from a male perspective and I liked it. April is National Donate Life Month so I loved that I got to read this book during April. It's easily the plot of an early aughts ABC Family movie with the mean girl cheerleader versus the bookworm nerd. Also there's a massive plot twist you don't see coming.

This book was adorable! It has been a little while since I’ve read a romance book solely in the MMC POV, but I really enjoyed it!
Bronx has a troubled past that he’s desperately trying to move up and onwards from, but has never worked through the trauma. Just bottled it up. (Therapy goes a long way folks… just saying) He’s content with barely passing his classes, just as long as he can play football and move on to the NFL.
Olivia is our typical nerdy hottie that the jock falls in love with. But wow did how I view her character development RAPIDLY change in the last 20%. (No spoilers)
There’s jealous friends, adorable romance, cute nicknames, backstabbing, bad dad jokes, trauma healing, and some tragedy.
Over all a solid 3.75 rounded up to 4 stars in my books!

Thank you to NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts are my own and are in no way influenced by early access to this title.

Sweet and comforting. Bronx fell so hard for Olivia, I loved it. He was conflicted with all the new feelings he was having. It was almost like live at first sight for him. There’s a reason everyone likes Olivia. She has the best heart, despite her past. The ending was so beautiful!

This was a really cute slow burn! I was hooked from the beginning. I don’t usually read things from the guy’s perspective but it was a very fresh take! I also really enjoyed all the little details.

This book was very well written and takes what I consider to be a unique perspective for a collage romance book. Bronx is the narrator for this book, and having the MMC as the narrator is not something I have personally read before. In the beginning, I hated Bronx, who was known as a player. Hearing his thoughts was kinda disturbing. However, as the book progresses I learned more about him and grew to enjoy his character more. This book is a fairly stereotypical collage romance and reminded me of the After series a bit. Bad boy goes for sweet innocent nerdy girl. I did enjoy this read, but the plot just did not seem that original.

As soon as I read the title of the book I was curious to what the story could be. I certainly thought that it would be STEM-centered, but I was surprised to see that it was so much more profound.

I was immediately drawn to the narrative as this is the first contemporary romance that I’ve read where the only narrator is the Male Main Character. Bronx was such an interesting character, with a moving back story, a stone-cold exterior and a delightful personality. He is the epitome of a cinnamon roll character, who finds himself falling head over heels for the one girl who is his complete opposite. I loved his and Olive’s dynamic, it felt quite genuine to read their interactions and to experience them falling in love with each other through Bronx’s eyes.

As honorable mentions, I have to comment on the antagonists of the story. The author did an amazing job at making me hate them. They definitely added drama and tension to the story, making me root even harder for Bronx and Olive to end up together. Another honorable mention is Delilah’s character - I truly believe everyone deserves a friend as amazing as her.

This book gripped me from the very first page, I consumed it in a day. I found myself giggling and kicking my feet, loving the heartthrob jock falling in love with the quiet nerd. I certainly did not see that twist at the end, but it made the story quite beautiful and wholesome.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone out there who enjoys reading from the male POV, who enjoys romances that make you giddy and happy as the main characters navigate falling deeply in love as they also navigate complex backstories.

Once again, thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for allowing me to read the ARC for this wonderful book.

I received this ARC from NetGalley, I was SO surprised and excited to read a romance from the MMC POV.

I powered through this book in hopes that I would fall in love at some point and it unfortunately fell very short for.

Was sold as a 🌶️ romance and there really wasn’t any at all 🥲 it felt like a slow burn that never actually burned for me.

Amazing book! I think I read it in about 3 days and stayed up way too late to read the end! The story was so sweet without and super spicy scenes! I didn’t LOVE Bronx all the time, but I knew there was something about Olivia from the beginning, but not what I expected at all!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review!!

This is a college romance that follows a football player and his partner in anatomy lab. The story was told fully from the mmc’s perspective, which was an interesting change compared to most romance books that are dual pov or mfc pov only. Unfortunately, this book was not it for me. I don’t know if maybe I’m just older than the target audience, but all the characters felt very immature. I hard a hard time buying that they are pre-med college seniors. The classes they are in seem like freshman or sophomore level classes, and they act like high schoolers. The characters felt pretty underdeveloped aside from being assigned very stereotypic high school-esque tropes: the jock, the geek, the mean girl. I found the mmc hard to like, especially as he is still hooking up with other girls nearly 40% into the book. There were also some things in the book that were just cringey. For example, the mmc refers to another guy who has a crush on the fmc as ‘Rat Boy’ multiple times every time this character is present.

I hope there are plans for this book to go through more editing before publication because it needs it. The formatting/spacing changed at least twice within every chapter, and there were some spots where it got so bad that it was hard to read.

This book really surprised me - the entirety is through the MMC POV, which you never typically see. I personally don't know how I feel about that since I love a good dual POV from each of the main characters. The beginning was interesting and the middle took me a bit to get through. It was very repetitive of class, studying, Bronx trying to find anyway to be around Olivia. The love he had for her was cute, but it felt more high school love rather than them being seniors in college. It was cute, but not my favorite read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for the ARC!

Scars of Anatomy by Nicole Alfrine

Thank you to the Author, Publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

OKAAAAAY stop this book was so cute! This is a SLOW burn college romance from the MMC's pov which was refreshing and I've never read a romance from the male pov. I loved the characters BUT the FMC did seem a bit bland at times but overall I felt this did not hinder the story it just left me wishing for her pov at least once or twice. This book did not do a lot of traveling as in most of it was spent in their class room and they didnt really interact outside of it (which I mean it is a college romance so I get it) but with that said I felt the banter could have been more maybe more flirty between main characters more back and forth as a group to really immerse the reader into this book. Overall I'm giving it 5 stars because it is definitely a cute little read I could see myself turning to in-between longer fantasy/dark romance reads! I will definitely keep an eye out for more from this author!

I wasn't aware of the fact that this book was told completely from the mmc's point of view before requesting and it was definitely a brave yet disappointing choice in this case because of the lackluster execution.
