Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury for providing me with an egalley of this book to read and give an honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
I requested this book solely because of the reference to 13 Reasons Why reference in the blurb. I haven't read much poetry but I do like it and I liked seeing the Emily Dickenson in this book.
The main characters were relatable enough. I'm not sure I fully connected with them. The constant POV changes were a little confusing for me. I felt like I need to flip back to see whose POV I was even reading and it took me out of the story. It made the characters more underdeveloped than I would have liked.
I liked the mystery that was done through the letters. It kept me guessing who they were from.
For me, there were too many things going on in this book. Too many subplots. It made it hard to follow and the stories were less developed because of it.
I enjoyed the writing. It flowed well and the addition of the poetry was nice.
I do appreciate that books like this are written. I think it sheds a lot of light on the mental health issues teens are experiencing in our world.
Overall, I think this title will definitely resonate with many teens and I applaud the author for tackling this concept.
