This book is not for me. Too much telling, not enough showing. Instead of a heart-pounding opening where the heroine awakes to realize her apartment is on fire, the book starts with the heroine sitting at her desk at work a few hours later, ruminating on her life. DNF.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.
This book is a good choice for a cozy afternoon read. There were some moments that didn't fit into the story-line, in my opinion, but my general impressions of this title are positive. I missed a bit more of the characters development. In my opinion, in some moments they had a really nice dynamic, but in others it felt like they were too indecisive about their relationship, and they had trouble communicating openly with each other. I also wish we got the opportunity to meet other characters in this story a bit deeper. I liked the writing style, the descriptions are quite nice, and I could imagine the surroundings in which the story is settled. The story has a nice message, and it is quite agreeable to read.
Thank you NetGalley, publisher and author for sending me this book for review consideration.

Molly's life hits the skids right from page one. And then just when she needs it the most her life turns around with an offer too good to be true. It made me wonder about the timing. From the time Molly moves to the insular town of Loon Lake, her good fortune proves to be more than expected. She meets Grant who is another interesting character giving up so much to live simply and experience peace. But peace is hard to come by in this story with an old case hanging over the head of the town. The author throws a lot of challenges at Molly and by extension Grant as the town is far from welcoming and "accidents" happen. We also have an overarching theme of a prophesy about the town and how Molly fits the town.
It felt like I was missing something that was alluded to many times throughout the book. There is another story that takes place at Loon Lake and perhaps I should have read that book before. This book is a solid 3.5 to 3.6 which I am rounding up because I think it would have been better if I had read book 1 first.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harbor Lane Books, LLC for the opportunity to read this ARC.
