A well written thriller with an excellent storyline. Alexandra has everything she wanted in life, until something in her past threatens to destroy it. The author sets the pace for this psychological thriller, taking you on a seemingly never ending ride of deceit and half truths. Highly recommended.

Past secrets will catch up to you eventually no matter how far you run, as Alexandra soon learns in the beginning pages of this book.

This psychological thriller was full of mind bending twists and suspense that keep you on the edge of your seat. This cleverly written thriller will shock you. It will suck you in from the beginning chapter as the author does a great job of pulling you into the story hook, line and sinker.

Everyone Is Lying is a psychological thriller about a woman with a secret that eventually catches up with her. The story started out slow but picked up the pace and was a real page turner. Filled with mystery, tension, lots of twists and turns. If you're looking for a great read, this is it!

Synopsis: Alexandra has the perfect a successful business, a loving husband, and two beautiful children. But twenty years ago, she witnessed something she was never meant to see. When she finds a perfectly folded origami bird on her kitchen table one morning, she knows someone from her past is after her. Only four people knew her nickname – Birdie – and one of them is dead.

Everyone Is Lying is a newly released novel, March 31, 2025, by D. E. White. Thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and the author for the opportunity to read an ARC; my review reflects my honest opinion. Alexandra is a successful business woman, happily married to Harlan, a Brighton policeman and loving mother to 10 year old Sophie and 7 year old Tom. She has worked hard for all she has achieved including being able to place her mom in a highly respected care home. In spite of this almost idyllic life, she worries that facts from her late teens and twenties could come back and possibly destroy her life. And one day that happens; she is selected to serve on the jury for the murder trial of Gareth Sellers, a man from her past. Everyone Is Lying is a compelling book that takes the reader through Alexandra's past from the trial to its aftermath. Can a person escape their past? Can a good woman bring down powerful men without jeopardizing her family? Do the mighty ever fall? Initially the book moved a bit slowly, yet certainly picked up momentum and had me hooked. It's a very suspenseful and intriguing thriller. 4 stars.

Everyone is Lying is a suspenseful psychological thriller by D.E. White. What would you do if you saw something you weren't meant to see and after 20 years someone from your past is now after you?

I found myself caught up in this thriller right off the bat. It’s definitely a “Can’t run from your past forever” type of book. Alexandra once lived a very different life than she currently does and it’s one she has worked to maintain. When she starts receiving an origami bird, she realizes someone out there knows.
It’s a fast paced novel with twists and keeps you gripped until the end. I would definitely recommend to those that enjoy thrillers!

3.5 star read for me. I really wanted to love this thriller but it ended up falling a little flat. Great characters and storyline but some of the thrills and surprises were expected. Overall, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to other thriller readers. Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC edition of Everyone is Lying.

Everyone Is Lying by D. E. White was a great psychological thriller from start to finish and I really enjoyed it Especially as it is about a woman called Alexandra, she has the perfect a successful business, a loving husband, and two beautiful children. But twenty years ago, she witnessed something she was never meant to see. This has been kept a secret for all this time and now this secret is eventually catching up with her. WoW. . . . . .

Everything is perfect until Alexandra finds a perfectly folded origami bird on her kitchen table one morning, she knows someone from her past is after her. Now, only four people knew her nickname which is Birdie and one of them is dead.

She is forced to confront the night that changed everything, when three girls died at an exclusive party, Alexandra ran away with a secret that could destroy some of the most powerful men in the country.

But, this secret is slowing rising to the surface and this little bird isn’t just a reminder! it’s a warning.

Someone knows what really happened that night. They’re willing to tear apart her carefully constructed life to keep her quiet.

Will, she survive?

Wow. . . this book was full of twists and turns. It was a great read and great for you holiday.

Everyone is Lying by D.E. White is a suspenseful thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Alexandra (Lexy) has built up a successful business, is happily married to her husband Harlan, and has two young children. She has been able to overcome her past as a party girl and host to exclusive get together. Twenty years ago Lexy witnessed something that she should not have seen and has been on the run ever since. When one day she finds an origami bird with a broken wing she is faced with the terrifying fact that her past has caught up to her. Who could have possibly known that her nickname was Birdie other than the person she is hiding from?

This book was a good suspense thriller with a dual timeline. It is in a third person narrative which I don't read as often but I really enjoyed it in this. The plot of the book is enjoyable and while some parts are on the slow side , I feel that it is necessary to set the stage for the twists to come. Overall I would recommend Everyone is Lying to readers who like their thrillers with tension and suspense!!

Thank you to NetGalley, D.E White, and Storm Publishing for this ARC. Publication date is March 31st 2025.

Everyone is Lying catapults us into the chaotic life of Alexandra, a multitasking mom of two and dutiful wife to Harlan. Buckle up as we plunge into her tumultuous college days, where she was part of a notorious group orchestrating provocative events for men, designed to let them cherry-pick their female companions. As we oscillate between the past and the present, the chilling realization dawns that her reckless choices still haunt her. Long-buried secrets begin to claw their way back to the surface, fueled by the ominous arrival of a mysterious letter on her dining room table—a sinister wake-up call. Friends from her past resurface, stirring old ghosts and unraveling a narrative ripe with tension. This saga is an exhilarating rollercoaster of twists and turns, thick with intrigue. While it may not be the pinnacle of literature, its tantalizing mysteries kept my curiosity piqued, earning a respectable 3 stars out of 5.

Everyone Is Lying by D. E. White is a gripping psychological domestic suspense story that is dark and twisty.

Can anyone really outrun their past and live happily ever after? That's what Alexandra "Lexy" is trying to do. Now happily married with two kids, her own business, and a lovely home, she believes she has done just that. Until the day an origami bird shows up on her table. Only a few people know her as Birdie. Someone from her past is trying to send her a direct message, but who and what exactly is that message? Her past is about to collide with her present and the repercussions may be deadly. Turns out she is not the only one harboring secrets!

This is a fast moving drama that weaves the past with the present. There are twists and surprises throughout, right up until the end. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and quickly turning the pages to see what was going to happen. I enjoyed this book and I recommend it highly.

This book starts out with a very happy family. Alexandra has everything going for her in life, a perfect husband two perfect children and house that would leave everyone envious. Things are about to change for her when she suddenly starts getting paper birds at her doorstep. Now to anyone else this would just be a minor inconvenience, however this has a little bit more significance to her. With the dismantled bird she has suddenly acutely aware that someone knows about her past, a past she spent a long time trying to hide from. And with the damage to the paper birds she is sure that this is meant as a threat. But who could possibly know if her life before when she was known as birdie and what she did? Especially since only four people know about that nickname and one of them is dead. How is she going to be able to stop her pass from ruining the future she has so painstakingly created for herself? I really like how the author talked about what was going on in Alexandra AKA Birdie's life in the future but it also link back to what she did in the past and how her actions were catching up to her. It was very easy to follow and there was so much tension and suspense in this book since it was all told from a third party so you were able to see everyone's confusion anger and worry. This book really grabbed my attention and had me desperate for answers all at the same time. I really enjoyed watching the desperation in our main character as she struggled to keep her life under control and keep what was once buried still buried. What I didn't like was the third person narrative I don't read too many books written like that so times it was a little hard to follow. Besides that little critique however I did enjoy the plot of this book and I'm so glad that I got the chance to check it out. I found the pace of this book to be a little on the slow side and while I love parts and raced.through it other parts seemed to take forever and I had to force myself to pick it back up.

I was accepted to read this on NetGalley prior to the publication date. Below is my honest opinion.

This was a book full of twists and turns. This was my first book of D.E.White and it will not be last. Every chapter had me guessing and when I thought I had worked out the twist the book took a turn and proved me wrong.
The only negative thing and it’s a personal preference is that it was in 3rd person which isn’t normally my kind of book a prefer a first person pov! But other than that this was a great read and highly recommend.

No one talks about the Candy Girls anymore, until 20 years later when Lexy, now known as Alexandra, finds that life has unraveled. This book kept me hooked. While there was a learning curve with some of the words, as it’s set in Europe, I overall enjoyed this book and it was a quick read. Everything was resolved in the end.

1⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an advanced copy of Everyone Is Lying.

Alexandra has a wonderful life with her husband and their two children. She still has nightmares about her past and when she starts receiving threatening messages she knows that someone has found out about what happened all those years ago. She just needs to find out who it is.

This book was not well written, the story jumped all over the place, there were way too many characters to try to keep track of, and I just felt like the plot was very confusing. I could not connect with any of the characters and it was just a difficult book to read.

She seems to have the perfect life, but she’s been running from her past. Only now her past is catching up to her in a very threatening way. She doesn’t want to admit to her cop husband what she did before she met him, but can she really handle this herself?

I found this to be a quick, entertaining read. There were a few twists that I didn’t see coming, which I always enjoy. I will be keeping my eye out for more entertainment from this author.

2.75 ⭐

The Plot: The premise was promising and at times the story was quite interesting, but I didn’t really enjoy reading this book. It seemed like everything that happened could’ve been prevented and that thought was nagging me the entire time. Everything we do has consequences, whether it be good or bad, and it seems like nobody knew about this while they were striving for success and money. I will say that there were points of the story that surprised me, but most of the “surprises” I had already guessed or were explained. The story didn’t thrill me, chill me, or wow me. It’s more of a mystery novel than a thriller, but it isn't very mysterious. I wish it were so I could have liked it better! 😭

The Characters: The characters were all right. I liked how motherly and protective Alexandra was over her children, but she frustrated me sometimes with her back and forth of regretting being a part of the parties yet thinking it wasn’t so terribly bad because she didn’t do anything illegal and she got to get her degree. 🤦‍♀️ I’m not judging her because desperate times call for desperate measures, but like, girl. There are plenty of other students who work their butts off in school and work several crappy jobs to keep themselves afloat and still graduate and live the life they want without having to look over their shoulder. Her excuses fell flat for me. She confused me and I felt like she was on the fence about her past life. Everyone else was sketchy (except for Alexandra’s friends, I kinda liked them). I don’t think I liked any of the characters besides Alexandra’s kids, Clara, and maybe, maybe Gareth. 😅

The Writing: D. E. White is very good at what she does. Although I didn’t really like the story, her writing kept me engaged and the dialogue was realistic and readable, which helped me to press on and finish the book.

Overall Thoughts: I wish I could have liked it, but I didn’t. The lack of accountability and impulsiveness was incredible. I wanted to bang my head on the wall at how much of this could’ve been prevented if the love of money weren’t driving these characters to do things they wouldn’t have done otherwise. Money’s great and all, but it ain’t that great. 😅 Especially if it takes away your peace, puts you and your loved ones in danger, and destroys your future. Doesn’t seem worth it to me.

Content Warnings: murder, death, grief, some violence

Thank you, Storm Publishing, and NetGalley for letting me review this book, and provide an honest review in return.

I felt like there were too many unnecessary details, overly detailing things that were not important to the story. Some were important, however, most seemed so far fetched.

I don’t know how a police officer and a cosmetics business could afford a luxury period townhouse. It is explained later on, however.

But who stays in the same place after witnessing a crime?! I would have been out of there in a flash for fear of needing to look over my back all of the time, wondering when and if they will come for me.

It was also too hard to get my mind around how Alexandra was the ONLY girl at Matthew’s special parties, that was not an escort.

There were only three twists I did not see coming whatsoever, so that was well worth sticking through to the end of the book. Even though I feel like so much was packed into the ending instead of spreading little hints here and there throughout and also character descriptions for the ones listed at the end were not as elaborate as the characters in the beginning. Continuity is important.
