Everyone is Lying is the story of Alexandra, married to a police officer, with two children and her own successful business. Many years before, as a student at Brighton University, she worked as a hostess at private parties for which she was well paid. Known as Lexy, (with Birdy as her nickname which was slightly confusing) she, Mina, Bex and Jess were known as the Candy Girls who each wore a bracelet made from candy at the parties. It comes as no surprise that something dreadful happens and Alexandra is left with a secret that puts her life in danger. When she is called for jury duty she recognises a face from her past in the dock. She no longer knows who she can trust. But she isn't the only one with secrets and when the final one came out towards the end, it felt rather contrived.
Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Alexandra is a successful business woman, married to a policeman, and has two children.
When she was a teenager, she became a 'Candy Girl' to make money for her future.
She witnessed something horrific, and now her past has come back to haunt her, and she has been called to do jury duty to one of the people from her past.

I found this book a little slow, and very much like a recent read that I reviewed. Same basic story, different characters.
The twists were predictable, and some of the characters extremely unlikeable.

Not my cup of tea, but other readers will love this book. Maybe not my cup of tea because I have recently read a very similar book.

3/5 stars

Alexandra has it all –married to Harlan a wonderful man who is a police office and offers love and security, they have two beautiful children Tom and Sophie and Alexandria runs a successful business,
However, twenty years ago, when Alexandra was a student at Brighton University and known as Lexy she worked as a Hostesses for private parties (it paid well and she needed the money for finish her education for her nursing degree as well as to help her mother). The parties were run by a group of four wealthy successful guys. Niall her older adopted brother is into drugs and helps organize the parties. The Candy Girls~ Mina, Bex and Jess (each wears a candy bracelet at the parties) are young girls invited to entertained guests. One night they drown ~ believed from an over dose.
Lexy saw what was going on and was offered a bribe and told – To leave immediately as there is nothing she can do however her life is in danger otherwise.
She wasn’t supposed to see and know what happen - as it could destroy some of the most powerful men in the country! Gareth Sellers, Thomas Blake and

Story is told from the POV of Alexandra and the Gareth Seller. Additionally there are flashbacks of twenty years ago. .
Present day~ One morning getting ready for breakfast Alexandra spots a white envelope addressed to Birdie. At that time only four knew her nickname was – Birdie.
Next - she finds an intricate origami bird with one white wing missing.
She knows the bird isn’t just a reminder – it is a warning and she is afraid.

I read a lot of psychological thrillers and although this story held my attention- it wasn’t a typical Psychological thriller .Some of what I thought would happen did happen but there still was a surprise.

About the Author ~ D. E. also uses the pseudonym Daisy White and wrote 25 novels – the most popular was [book: Glass Dolls, Detective Dove Milson Series #1]

She knows he's guilty, because she is too.
Everyone is lying a gripping unputdownable thriller.
Alexandra twenty years ago ran away with a secret, but now finding on her kitchen bench a origami bird is a sign, someone wants to damage and destroy her, someone knows the truth, but who and how did they get into her home?
Alexandra has the perfect dream life, a luxury town house in Brighton, a loving husband Harlan and two beautiful children Sophie and Tom.
This book is so twisty, with full on details of prostitution, violence and death.
Finding her dream husband has another side.
It will shock and horrify readers, right down to the end.
A relationship is built on trust not full of lies that is bought with dirty money.
I couldn't put it down.
Leaving me engrossed into the story.
Its a must read.
I loved it.

***CONTAINS SPOILERS***

While the book provides an abundance of content, I felt that the story lacked significant events. It began at a slow pace, with much of the focus on the protagonist, Alexandra's, feelings rather than on the unfolding of actions. Fortunately, the narrative did pick up towards the end. However, Alexandra's internal struggle between doing what is right and keeping her secret felt prolonged and at times too much. Her overwhelming emotions seemed a bit overdone.

The relationship between Alexandra, her mother, and her adopted brother, Niall, was somewhat perplexing. Although her mother had fostered several children, she chose to adopt Niall, and both of them were deeply fond of him. Alexandra even formed a strong bond with him. However, one night 20 years ago, Alexandra spilled everything to her mother, and despite their love for Niall, they continued their lives as if he no longer existed. This aspect of the story was unclear to me.

Alexandra's hypersensitivity, even to the sound of rain, was excessive as well. The main character was difficult to sympathize with. Despite having many secrets herself, Alexandra became excessively paranoid about others lying to her when her secrets were at risk of being exposed. While her husband did indeed lie to her, she came across as somewhat hypocritical.

Overall, this was not one of my favorite books. I found the main character challenging to like and occasionally irritating.

I do appreciate the author's effort in crafting the story, even though it was not to my taste. Thank you, Storm Publishing and NetGalley, for providing me with the opportunity to read this book.

Alexandra has kept her past a secret and when she is appointed to a jury, someone blackmails her into revealing everything if she doesn't follow their instructions. She will soon discover that she is not the only one keeping secrets.
The plot is interesting but at times I found it a little slow and predictable. I didn't really empathise with the characters either.
Overall a good novel to pass the time and little else.

I couldn’t put this one down! Alexander has built a new life after a tragic night at a party 20 years ago. She’s trying to put the past behind her, but when she gets called to jury duty and recognizes the one on trial, she knows her past is coming back to haunt her. She doesn’t know who she can trust but wants to do all she can to keep her family safe. Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC.

The story is a bit messy and all over the place. It was hard to get into for me, but I pushed through. I felt the storyline had promise but the way it unfolded was very messy. Sometimes the story was so boring, I had to push through just to get by. I found the story to pick up pace near the end when we have a conclusion as to what occurred 20 years prior.

This is a story filled with secrets, twists and turns. All the characters are lying in the book! What a perfect title!!

Everyone is Lying is a mystery/thriller book about a woman named Alexandra and her questionable past. I was hooked from the start! Trying to figure out what exactly happened and how it all connects to the present. I really loved Alexandra’s character and her growth throughout the book. This book is based in the UK, which came with some confusion, me being in the US, but I still found the book easy to follow, despite the different use of language. While reading, I kept waiting for the BIG plot twist that I thought was coming, but unfortunately never did. Overall, this was a great quick read, although a little predictable. 3.5 rounded up!

Alexandra has the perfect life: a successful business, a loving husband, and two beautiful children. But twenty years ago, she witnessed something she was never meant to see. Now she has to confront her past and try to destroy some of the most powerful men in the country. Will she succeed or get hurt in the process.
This one was very different from any plot I had read. I thought I had figured it out, but nope, I didn’t. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, it went another way. A page turner for sure!

I enjoyed this one a great deal! In 2004 Lexy is a "Candy Girl," a hostess who earns money by entertaining men. Now in the present she is married to Harlan, a police officer and they have two young children. She finds an odd oragami bird on her doorstep and it reminds her of her sketchy past. Then when she is assigned jury duty, she finds herself on a murder case and believes she recognizes the defendant from her past. Now she must put all those memories behind her as she is bound by the law but it brings back so many memories she has trouble staying in the present! It's a captivating story that I raced through as it's unlike anything I've read!
