This third book in the Beau Monde Secrets series was an interesting and well written historical romance. The subtle romance that builds throughout a mystery of embezzlement, blackmail, and other emotional issues was very engaging. I enjoyed this sweet social class difference mystery romance.i highly recommend reading!

A Nice idea (although not original it was a nice change for no aristos) but just missed the mark for me. To start with we spent too much time on the migraine angle until it felt done to death and the mystery wasn't much of a mystery so its just felt a little lame for me although well written enough. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Hester and Walter were a nice pair. They start of with rather bad impressions of each other. She, after a scandal is just tired of deceiving men and suffers from migraines which makes her withdrawal seem cold and unfriendly. He is just trying to get through the case of missing money from his orphanage. But as they spend more time together, they slowly start understanding and liking what they discover about each other.

A refreshing romance, with a fairly common trope, but written with enough differentiation to make it a good read.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the mystery involving the charity was very interesting and I enjoyed watching Walter investigate the embezzling case. I liked that even thought he didn't like poetry (Hester's fav), he never looked down on things that weren't his main interest. Hester is a woman that is looking for a good match after being involved in a scandal during the London season. She got caught up in her desires and her family has sent her out of London so that the scandal can be forgotten by the ton. She gets migraines which she tries to stop from preventing her from being social as she enjoys being in the mix so to speak but she can come off cold/unlikeable to others because of her trying to hide her pain. I will say that a few times, I reread what she said and I was like I totally can understand the misunderstanding based just on words. I liked her though, as the book progressed she learned to care less about what is the "correct" way of doing things according to society and do what she wanted. However, I will say that this was much more historical fiction than the previous books than romance. Obviously it was there but it was not the central plot to the book, in my opinion. I did get an ARC of this via NetGalley but I also purchased this book.

Hester is visiting her brother when she meets Walter. They don't get along at first. He's dealing with a mystery and she is dealing with a scandal and broken heart. As time passes, they slowly begin to thraw and lower their walls. Creative, slow but steady romance added into an interesting mystery. Good character depth and plot. Well written and part of a very good series. It can stand alone however it's more fulfilling when read in order.

I loved this book. My favorite in the series so far! I've always liked Rollins' writing, but I can see that she's really hitting her stride here.

It had a good premise....

Just missed the mark for me. I guess because we spent so much time with Hester's headache. Way too much time. Anyways, Hester and Walter get off to a bad start, as Walter thinks she's arrogant. He's a solicitor on the case for some missing funds. He's a mere mister, with a fortune at his disposal. He's a lady with a headache.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Dragonblade Publishing for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is an enjoyable histrom with migraine rep. It felt realistic as the hero judges the heroine to be rude when in fact she was in pain.

This is a very subtle, slow burn romance within a mystery. Hester is visiting her brother in the country after having her heart broken in a scandal. Walter is visiting while investigating a case of theft at an orphanage.

At first they don't like each other at all. He thinks she's uppity and cold. She's just plain weary of men, after just having been involved with a real bounder. Plus, she is plagued by migraines, which doesn't make it easy to be a social butterfly at dinner.

The real joy was watching them very gradually soften towards each other. Tiny clues that the other person really is a good match. I was rooting them on. Nudge, nudge, c'mon, you know this is your destiny! I much prefer them to have to work for it than have insta love, any day.

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

Hester is a naive young woman sent away to her brother's country home to recover face after allowing herself to be embroiled in a public scandal. While this is a romance, it is also a coming-of-age drama. It is a delight to watch Hesta stumble, learn and grow as she untangles herself from another potential taint on her reputation.

Hester is intent on keeping herself clear of romance. Walter Hawthorn is focused on tracking down an embezzler. The last thing either of them is interested in is each other. Their cross-purpose romance is full of adorable missteps and swoon-worthy recoveries.

Will Hester be able to avoid a loveless marriage to save her reputation? Will Mr Hawthorn catch his thief?

If you love the other novels in Anne Rollins 'Beau Monde Secrets series, you will not be disappointed in this continuation. The Incident at Ingleton is a sweet Regency romance for lovers of Jane Austen-style novels. This was my first Rollins novel, and it will not be my last.

Attraction is aroused between Lady Hester and Mr Walter Haworth in this charming romance. Walter's first impression of Hester is not in the least bit favorable due to her aloofness, little realizing that she is still suffering from the aftermath of a severe migraine headache. I have a certain sympathy with Hester, especially as the best the apothecaries could offer at the time was willow bark and peppermint tea! Whilst Walter is investigating a case of embezzlement, he seems stern and overly serious, leaving Hester feeling somewhat insignificant. However, as Walter observes her, he sees a warm and loving person towards her family and becomes protective towards her, especially when it seems that someone wants to take advantage of her. As Walter discovers the information he needs to wind up his investigation, the relationship between Walter and Hester comes to a sweet and amusing conclusion. I received a copy of this lovely romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Okay, this one is a formula-breaker, and that doesn't always work for romance, but I loved the ending so much.

The mystery plot is strong and provides a lot of tension and most of the momentum for the book. The romance plot has really atypical pacing and a lot of its cues are subtle. For plot reasons I don't want to spoil, the chemistry doesn't start overtly building until midway through the book, and both characters are pros at psyching themselves out. But again, the ending is *chef's kiss*, and the plot has plenty of oomph driving you forward, so unless you add a reader really need the romance formula, this is a great read.

If you are reading Rollins's Beau Monde Secrets in order, this book features several characters from Secrets at Selwyn Castle and that really made me happy.

Very low heat (a little kissing).

Thank you NetGalley. Hester had not made her family happy with her and she was sent to stay with her brother and his wife. She met two very different men while she stayed there. Walter Haworth is trying to find who has taken money from the orphanage his family supports. Mr Butler has decided he is interested in Hester for her money. Which will she be interested in and wind up with?

A sweet story. I liked the side characters and their familial affection. I would have appreciated more confidence in mutual affection before the end as well as in the epilogue.
