The Spanish Daughter felt verrry familiar to me. I have only read one other book from The Lost Daughters series, and I thought it was a great read. I am a huge fan of Lucinda Riley's The Seven Sisters series, and having finished all of the books from that series, I was so thrilled to discover The Lost Daughters as a similar series. I read a lot, so I do often have a hard time recalling specifics from books I've read in the past, but there was something so so similar about the plot of The Spanish Daughter with the polo esate. Aside from this niggling suspicion that I've read something eerily similar (maybe Chanel Cleeton??), I absolutely flew through this novel and can't complain about a single thing.

To lose people so close to you in such a short span of time is heartbreaking then to discover there is a whole other side to the family, that has been hidden for many generations.
Falling in love with the country, its people and a love for polo.
You will find yourself transported between two different timelines while we unravel the mystery that is the Santiago family

BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The Spanish Daughter' by Soraya Lane.
This book is the sixth book in Soraya's 'The Lost Daughters' series but each book can be read as a standalone.
Well I am ABSOLUTELY gutted to come to the end of this book as it ends my stunning sofa holiday 😭
This book is beautifully written and completely absorbs you in the stunning atmosphere of Argentina and the Santiago estate completely sucking you in with the vivid descriptions leaving you feeling and seeing exactly what Rose and Valentina are feeling and seeing throughout. The synopsis and cover suits the storyline perfectly.
This book is yet another absolutely gorgeously stunning addition to Soraya's absolutely beautiful 'The Lost Daughters' series which I fell in love with after reading the first book which is called 'The Italian Daughter', which I would also highly recommend!!! Although this book is the sixth book in Soraya Lane's 'the Lost Daughters' series you will have absolutely no problems reading it as a standalone. Any relationships, friendships and cases mentioned are explained in just the right amount of detail so new readers of this gripping series understand what's happened previously but not too much that previous readers get bored by repetition. I would always recommend reading books in a series in order but if you cant resist reading this one before the previous ones, and who would blame you with this stunning cover sucking you in, then there is a silver lining! The silver lining is that after you finished and fallen in love with this book and series you can go back and read the previous five gorgeous books while you are waiting for Soraya's next success to come out!! On that note, I have some amazing news and that is that you will not have to wait too long for it!! The next book in this gorgeous series is already available to preorder on Amazon!! It is called 'The Hidden Daughter' and will be published on the 13th October so preorder it now and mark your calendars!! I have absolutely loved each book in this series and this book is certainly no exception. the way Soraya weaves all the books together through the one thread of Hope's House yet allows each book to be able to be read as a standalone is beautiful! The storyline is authentic, unique and realistic as well as easy to read and heart-warming. It is just one of those absolutely stunning books that promises the reader gets completely lost in the pages for hours. Each book in the series is a standalone but all have the connection of 'Hope House' which is a home for unwed mothers in London. In this book we meet Valentina starting from the year 1939 in the prologue but going back to 1930 in the main story in Argentina and Rose in London in the year 2022. Rose has not long lost both her Mum and her Gran close together and is grieving for them. They were all very close and more like best friends than daughter/mum/gran. A letter arrives at Rose's Mum's home after she passed away stating that her Mum is the sole beneficiary of an expansive polo property and is a heiress to the Santiago family estate that her Gran was meant to inherit but when she passed away it went to her Mum. Now Rose's Mum has passed away it comes to Rose herself. Rose also receives a small wooden box containing a wooden horse and a piece of silk. Rose initially believed the inheritance was a scam but once she receives the box believes the items are connected. Rose travels to Argentina where she is determined to learn more about Valentina who the inheritance came from. When she arrives those who work at the property are dubious that they have never seen Rose but all of a sudden she seems to be turning up to claim the Santiago family estate. They were very protective of Valentina, especially Benjamin who Valentina sponsored and whose family she helped a lot. Will Rose discover more about Valentina? Will she ever be welcomed? Will she stay or will she sell her inheritance? Valentina dotes on her Father who she lives with alongside her Mother and step-brother Bruno. Her Dad Basilio teaches her about Polo and the estate as he wants her to take over when he passes away. Valentina falls in love with Felipe who works with the horses and is also Basilio's best friends son. However, when Basilio passes away her Mother forbids Valentina from seeing Felipe and also completely overthrows Basilio's will, taking over everything herself. Will Valentina be able to save the Santiago estate? Why does she disappear to London? Is there any hope for Valentina and Felipe? Grab your copy and follow Valentina and Rose's journeys to find out for yourselves. I promise that you will not regret it and you may just discover your new favourite author and/or series!!! It is an absolutely emotional rollercoaster ride where one moment I was crying with sadness and the next with joy and happiness!!! Seriously make sure you have the tissues at the ready as very rare I am emotional unless there is animals involved but this book even had me blubbering it was so raw and emotionally packed!!! What happened to some of these characters was unbelievably cruel and I had tears streaming down my face. You will also want to book the day off whatever you had planned as once you pick up this book and turn the pages I can guarantee you will not want to put it down!! I found myself picking it up every spare second I had and not wanting to put it down so ended up reading it in one sitting in the end!! The storyline was filled with a range of emotions and was heart-warming, devastating and had lies, secrets, relationships, family, friendship and history all going on in this beautiful atmosphere. I loved the fact that we get to read both past and present time lines and Soraya has woven them together absolutely perfectly!! It felt like a lovely break away from a rainy Wales!! I loved how the story ended and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring Santiago in the past and present. An absolutely stunning read!!!
It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.
Clear your schedules, grab your tissues and get ready to go on a journey of a lifetime!!!
Although this is the sixth book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without any of the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
The characters were all unique with their own realistic traits, strengths and weaknesses. It was intriguing to watch Rose and Valentina's personalities, friendships and relationships grow, develop and change throughout the the storyline. I was completely invested in them both and my heart broke for what Valentina had to go through in order to try to live her dreams for herself and her Father while her disgraceful Mother cared only for herself, Bruno and money. It wasn't just these two amazing characters I was intrigued and invested in but every character I met throughout the storyline and each and every one of them had their own unique personalities, flaws, strengths and weaknesses ensuring they were realistic. It was absolutely amazing to watch the personalities and relationships between all the characters grow, develop and bond. Soraya's vivid and evocative writing skills and descriptions made each and every single character jump out of the pages where you could see and feel everything that they could see and was feeling. All characters worked perfectly with the storyline and I would love to meet them again and hope to see this made into a series or even a movie!!!
Well done Soraya on yet another absolutely stunning addition in a gorgeous series, I will definitely be looking for your books any time I need to be swept off on a memorable journey or to another country!!!
A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Soraya on yet another HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more of your past and hopefully future books. This is the exact reason you are one of my favourite authors! Here's to your next success 🥂
Overall a true page turning, perfect and stunning romance that will sweep you off your feet and land you in Argentina and in the past!!

Book 6 in The Lost Daughters series and each seems better than the last. Though I'm sure I could go back and read anyone of the previous and feel the same.
This book is set mainly in Argentina. Both in the late 1930s and partly present day. It's also set in England in present day.
A story of a girl and boy who loved each other for many years. They were in their early teens when they feel head over heels in love even though they both knew her mother would never allow it. Would never approve.
A story of a young women who recently lost her mother. She had lost her grandmother the previous year and felt so alone. Then she received a box from a lawyer with clues to a past she had no idea about. And a fortune that she certainly never knew about. It was in Argentina. A sprawling ranch filled with so much beauty and history. And her heritage that she had no idea existed until now.
Rose travels to Argentina and meets Benjamin. Benjamin has always been a part of this area. His father and his father before him worked for the Santiago family. Benjamin's great grandfather had at one time loved Valentina Santiago more than anything. But it seemed their love was not meant to last. Rose uncovers so much during her time in Argentina and she finds a love story of her own.
What happens to Valentina in this story was so sad. Her whole life seemed to be set before it ever had a chance to start. Her mother was a cruel woman. Her step brother was selfish in every way. Valentina lived a full life and was kind beyond words. She loved some from afar and others close and personal. But my heart wept for her. For her and Felipe. For a child that had to be given up. And for what might have been.
Ms Lane takes us into this story filled with so much love, loss, and tragedy to find what was and what could have been. To a family torn apart after a tragic death. To a young lady who is stronger than she thought. To one who took on her family when she had nothing left to lose. I rooted for her strongly.
Well done. Loved the characters. This story developed perfectly and both love stories keep you on your toes. This book will make your heart ache and bring tears to your eyes. It will also give you hope and a knew belief in things. It was just that good.
Thank you #NetGalley, #Bookouture, for this ARC.

The Spanish Daughter by Soraya Lane.
I did like the cover and blurb of this book. I really enjoyed this book. I liked the writing style and the story. It went between Valentina and Felipe then Rose. I did like the characters. I loved the setting. It did sound beautiful. I loved the ending.

This is book 6 in a series, but, as far as I'm aware, they all work as standalone stories and can be read in any order. They are linked by Hope House. This is the only Lost Daughters book I have read, and I didn't feel anything was missing by not having read previous stories.
The Spanish Daughter is a dual timeline, dual POV book, told by Valentina in the 1930s-1940s, and Rose in the present day. This is the kind of book that I refer to as a "you know what you're getting" kind of story. I don't mean that the entire story is obvious, or that it is boring. But it feels comforting, like an old blanket. There's an air of mystery, but ultimately you know that there will be a happy ending and that nothing overly terrible will happen. Of course a young woman being forced to have a baby adopted is terrible, but you know what I mean.
The writing was wonderful and transported me to Argentina, I could almost see and smell the flowers, I could feel the warm breeze on my face and hear the horses in the stables.
The plot was a nice, gentle easy read which everyone needs from time to time. I absolutely adored Valentina, she was a strong woman who must have been very unusual for her time. I'm sure women like her were few and far between, but they must have existed. The romance in this kind of book is always slightly too perfect to seem real, but maybe that's just because I've never experienced it myself!
This isn't my first book by Soraya, and it won't be my last.

Yet Another Solid Entry In (Loose) Series. This is one of the more standalone entries in this loose series, where all the books share a common starting point - a group of women meeting with a lawyer after boxes are discovered with their family's names on them when a London building is being torn down, then each woman beginning her own path to discover the significance of her box. While some of the previous stories have more of the story of how those boxes came to be in them and are thus more essential to read in order, this one was one of the more complete standalones that could very well be read immediately after the series introduction and still make 100% sense with virtually no spoilers for the rest of the series at all.
So for those considering this series, this could actually serve as a decent starting point, if you don't want to start at the beginning/ if this book happens to be on sale when you come across it.
The story itself is the same solid blend of both sides of Soraya Lane (romance) and Soraya M. Lane (historical fiction) tales, while this one perhaps leans a touch more to the romance side given the lack of war dangers given the setting (and also the similarities even in the historical side to some of Lane's cowboy romances as Soraya Lane in particular). In other words, yet again, if you've never read Lane's work and happen to come into this book completely blind, this really is a solid introduction to her overall style of storytelling in both halves of her writing career.
Ultimately this was likely a much needed break - for both Lane herself and for readers - as I very much suspect that the most difficult, most harrowing book of this series is still to come... the actual origins of Hope's House and the mysteries therein, which have been hinted at in the prior books to more or less degrees, though it is still unclear exactly how many stories Lane has planned before executing on that particular tale, which I expect to be the finale of this series. (But who knows, I could be dead wrong about that. Not claiming any form of knowledge of Lane's plans, to be crystal clear.)
Very much recommended.

The sixth book in ‘The Lost Daughter’s’ series by Soraya Lane. Like the other books in the series it tells the story of a box from Hopes House for unmarried mothers being handed over to a family member. This box was left for Rose’s grandmother who was adopted but Rose’s family had no idea of the adoption. Rose is on a quest to discover why the box was left what the contents of the box mean and who her family really is.
A letter from a law firm in Argentina arrives advising Rose that she is the beneficiary, through her mother, of the Santiago family estate in Buenos Aires. Rose flies to Argentina to discover where her family came from. The dual time line of Rose’s search for answers in the present day and the life of Valentina, Rose’s great grandmother, during the late 1930s onwards is a wonderful read.
This is a story of family secrets, a love story that spans decades and the courage of two woman who live life to the fullest.

Valentina is ready to marry the love of her life, but it means that she must give up her family.
Rose recently lost her mother and while she is still grieving she feels so alone because she doesn’t know about any other family she may have. But when she receives a box containing a horse figurine and a beautiful piece of glittering silk she immediately has hope of family she never knew she had.
In search of her family, she arrives at the most beautiful estate in Argentina. When she befriends Benjamin, a local resident, he does everything possible to help her find answers to the questions of her past. But uncovering the truth is not something she is ready for.
The Spanish Daughter, written by author Soraya Lane, is an amazing time slip story of the past meets the present in hopes of a future. Lane is an amazing storyteller. She paints a beautiful picture of the story that plays like a movie in your mind. I felt like I was in Argentina watching the amazing sun sets and smelling the aroma of the beautiful flowers.
I loved everything about this story from cover to cover. It is a heartbreaking and heartwarming story with a completely unexpected storyline. This phenomenal unputdownable read is one that will remain in my heart for a very long time. I loved this book and highly recommend it, ten stars for sure.

Soraya’s books are my absolute favorite historical fictions. This book did not disappoint. This is Rose and her family’s story. Her item from Hope House sends her to Argentina and a house she inherited from her great-grondmother. It happens at the perfect time in her life when she needs a change. What Rose doesn’t expect is Benjamin. I love how Soraya adds in a bit of romance to her stories. Rose and Benjamin at the perfect pair. Of course they have obstacles to overcome to be together, but that just makes the story more interesting.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of this book.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Normally, I’m not a fan of dual timelines, but this one was easy to follow. It’s rich in depth, blending romance and drama seamlessly.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for providing an advanced audiobook copy 🤎

The Lost Daughters is now on book six with The Spanish Daughter by Soraya Lane. Once again, I enjoyed the search to uncover and understand the past with the letters from the lawyers, the meaning of the box and the inheritance which is an ocean away. Also like the previous books, Hope’s House has played a part in this sad yet uplifting story.
The story switches back and forward from 1939 and present day. However, the transitions are smooth, so it is a wonderful connection seeing great grandmother, Valentina and granddaughter, Rose in the same places. Romance is heartbreaking for one but heartwarming for the other, which was a pleasing conclusion to the book. I would recommend this book to all historical romance readers. The perfect amount of angst, drama, surprises, and wonderful romance.

This is the sixth book in the Lost Daughters series, and I've read them all. The series is absolutely amazing and not to be missed. A time slip, multi-generational book they all revolve around adoption, family secrets starting several generations and a different time in life. Life was slower then, more proper then and people cared what others thought so secrets were kept so as not to bring shame to families. As the secrets now come to life sometime later heartbreak is once again upon us. If only we could go back in time and make a change with things. Such an excellent read, I simply couldn't put this down and read it in a day. I fully recommend the author's books.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Bookouture.
This timeslip novel is part of the Lost Daughters series, and I haven't read any of the previous books, or anything else by this author before.
The story takes us to Argentina in the 1930s, where we follow Valentina. Valentina and Felipe have fallen in love, and want more than anything to get married, but Valentina's mother doesn't approve of their relationship. In the present day, we also follow Rose, who is grieving for the loss of her mother. When a letter addressed to her late mother arrives from Buenos Aires, Rose has some questions that need to be answered.
I connected with both characters differently. The bond between Valentina and Felipe went to my heart, and I cared about Valentina and her relationship with Felipe. I was also excited to see what Rose might discover, and to find out how Valentina's story was connected to her.
This was the type of book that really sweeps you away; it was romantic, heartwarming, and a tearjerker as well.
Thank you to Bookouture, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

A beautifully written, meaningful book with lots of emotions.
It was a captivating book, I was quickly drawn in, engrossed, and couldn’t put it down. Gorgeous setting in Buenos Aires at a beautiful estate, exhilarating Polo matches, deeply heart touching not one but two love stories set in two timelines makes it a wonderful read.
Admirable characters and easy flowing writing alternating between Valentina and Ross. A perfect happy ever after ending.
Thanks to @Netgalley and @bookouture for the eARC.

I think this one is my favorite book of this series.
It’s about love lost and love found again. It’s tender, sweet, yet sad.
Valentina endured more losses than most people and had to look from afar to see her two loves. She did have a happy ending.
I thought Rose was going to blow it but thank goodness she had Jess who ,add her see the light.
I loved the setting of Argentina because not many books I read are set there.
I’m eager for the next installment in this series!

THE SPANISH DAUGHTER is Book 6 in the outstanding Lost Daughters series by Soraya Lane. I have loved every book in this series and this one is my new favorite. It is told in dual timelines, 1939 in Argentina and present day in London and it held me captive from beginning to end with the beautiful writing, lush settings and wonderful characters. In the present day, Rose is reeling from having lost her beloved grandmother and then her mother. She is surprised when she is called by an attorney to pick up a small box that was left for her grandmother. Inside the mysterious box, she finds a small horse figurine and a scrap of blue silk. She learns that because her grandmother and mother have passed, she is now the rightful owner of a massive estate in Argentina. Rose travels to Argentina with the hope of unraveling the history of her family and the meaning behind the intriguing clues in the box. In 1939, Valentina Santiago is poised to become heiress to her father’s thriving business and estate. But when her father dies unexpectedly, her cold and cruel mother forces her into a loveless marriage and takes everything meant for Valentina. Valentina is forced to make unthinkable choices that will change her life forever. The two intriguing storylines are seamlessly woven together. The pages are filled with mystery, romance and drama and I couldn’t put this book down. I truly enjoyed this sweeping and emotional story and I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read and review an early copy.

London, Present day. Rose once thought she was alone in the world, having just lost her beloved mother a few months ago. So, when she is presented with a mysterious box containing a small figure of a horse, a scrap of glittering silk and the hope of a lost family being found, Rose will stop at nothing to find them. When her search takes her to a sprawling and luxurious estate in Argentina, where the best polo horses in the world were once raised, Rose wonders if she’s mistaken. But when she meets a charming local, Benjamin, he takes her by the hand and encourages her to rediscover her roots.
As they spend long sunlit days riding horses, and cosy evenings eating dinner with his family, Rose wonders how she will ever return to the grey skies back home. But then she discovers a heart-wrenching story of two forbidden lovers: a wilful Spanish heiress and a hardworking stable hand, ripped apart by an arranged marriage and one of the largest inheritances in the country, which intertwines Rose and Benjamin’s families in ways she could never have imagined. As Benjamin’s family grow wary of the stranger in their home dredging up the pain of the past, Rose finds herself at a crossroads. Will her great-grandmother’s story give her the courage to fly in the face of convention and follow her heart? Or will she too have to give up the one she loves most to heal family ties.
Another poignant, beautifully written story that will tug at your heartstrings! I love Rose, and I love discovering her family history alongside her. Another enriching, satisfying gem from Soraya Lane! 5♥️
I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

This was not my fave historical fiction and this took me out of the story. I still enjoyed the story however i found it hard to connect with the characters however this will not stop me reading more from the author. The characters were well defined and i can not say what didn't make me connect with them. I loved the settings and that this was a dual time line. I will be looking to pick up more from the author in the future.

I had looked forward to the sixth book in the series and this did not disappoint.
It is very possible to read this as a stand-alone and enjoy the book but it is part of a series centred around Hope House - a home for mothers who cannot keep their babies in the 1930’s
Each story centres around someone being given a little wooden box - often containing 2 items which have relevance to the baby born and the contemporary relative who is called by a lawyer to collect it.
This time we meet Rose in the present day and Valentina - an Argentinian heiress of a Polo empire whose family originated in Spain - hence the title.
This starts a dual time line story - which, now are into book 6 there is to some extent some predictability to the story - there will be a daughter born in the past and a present day relative who endeavours to uncover the past and understand the contents of the wooden box.
So you begin to expect the inevitability that the modern day girl will meet the love of her life with the inevitable hiccups along the way.
But somehow that familiarity draws you into the story - knowing the premise whilst not knowing how Soraya Lane will get this one to pan out.
If you read Soraya’s more gritty historical novels then this is not the same at all - still well written but in a much more light way.
I think we are due least one more episode and personally I can’t wait
