This was a good fantasy book about gods and goddesses but a more mortal approach it also has amazing chemistry between all characters the only reason why this audiobook didn't get 5 ⭐️ is it started slow

This book remains my new second favourite book (book 3 is my favourite). First time listening to the audiobook, and holy hell the narrators all do a FANTASTIC JOB! I want to reiterate I will listen over and over again. THE NARRATION IS AMAZING! Caitlin does such a good job with Cece and she helps to convey all the emotions from the series so beautifully.
The 3 male voices are so distinct it’s so easy to tell them apart, and they also do an excellent job of showing emotions and different characters’ voices through their voices.
Amazing character development. Mental health struggles.. I have said it before and I will say it again… Be prepared to be hit by the Sheila-bus! It’s a wonderfully heartbreaking experience 💔❤️😍
I received this book as an ALC and this is my honest review.

The Godless Kingdom
I took my time with this one, knowing it’s the last book in The Lost God series. These characters hold such a special place in my heart. Sheila has done an amazing job at making complex characters and a great story arc. I’m sad the series is over, but the ending was so satisfying so I can’t be too sad.
Thank you for a wonderful series Sheila Masterson 🥰
Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC. The narrators did an excellent job!

This series has my heart and soul and this book is my favorite in the series. The story is so heartbreaking and heartwarming and I wish it never ended, but this is truly the perfect end. The narrators delivered a wonderful performance through all 4 books and made this journey even more impactful.

I made the mistake of requesting this book without fully reading the description and didn't realize this was part of a series. That being said, I am still rating this a solid 4 stars because I got about a good way through the opening chapters of this book before I had to admit defeat and go and add the ENTIRE series to my digital TBR. I will absolutely be follow up on this series. Since I did not read the entire book, I will not be posting a review to my socials out of respect for the author. It's not a fair review if I haven't read the whole book.

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

The Godless Kingdom written by Sheila Masterson and narrated by Caitlin Kelly; Will Damron; Tim Campbell; Rusty Mewha was a juicy and exciting listen from NetGalley. I love multiple narrators. The audio experience is enhanced tenfold when the depth of additional narrators is offered.
The Godless Kingdom is such a roller coaster. I mislistened the order of the series but it did not detract from the enjoyment of the world and the characters. I will absolutely be making sure the entire series is read in full.
Cecilia and Rainer are everything. There are so many characters but not too many to keep up with the story. Cecilia is what an FMC should be in all books. Five stars and spice on top.

Absolute perfection as always. Sheila's world is a place I wish I could live. This entire series has been so amazing. I have loved listening to the audio on my commute to work. I'm seriously obsessed. Everyone needs to read this series, immediately.

𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅. 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕.
I cannot say enough good things about this series. It is perfection. The Godless Kingdom is the kind of finale we wish we could have from every series. Sheila once again balances moments of gut wrenching agony with moments of pure joy and laugh out loud humor.
Once again, the narration is absolutely incredible. These narrators are perfect. I cannot get over how fantastic Tim Campbell is as Xander. And Will Damron is perfection as Rainer. This audiobook takes an already impeccable story to the next level.
The characters in this series are so complex. Characters you only have brief encounters with will still illicit emotional responses, while the ones you are with throughout the series latch onto your soul and never let go. Cece, Rainer, Xander, Evan, and Sylvie have burrowed their way into my hears and this series is one that will stay with me forever.

I'm not being dramatic when I say I hate the antagonist of this book more than any character I've ever read. I spent a decent amount of this book in an absolute blind rage. He is the worst. He deserved worse than what he got.🤬

With everything going on in this story I was truly not sure who was going to make it out alive. I shed more than a few tears while reading this and was stressed for at least 75% of the book. The way Sheila tells this story is so deeply moving. It pulled me from rage, to laughter, to sobbing tears in a matter of pages and then started over again. No series has made me sob uncontrollably the way this one has.

Despite the anxiety inducing turmoil our friends are living through, the relationships, both romantic and platonic, in this book were absolutely phenomenal. I love each and every couple in this book and I will forever be #teamrainer.
Oh, and the spice in this book is 🥵🥵🥵. Sheila gave us a GIFT in this book. Now go be a good girl and read it.😏

The Godless Kingdom by Sheila Masterson is a masterful conclusion to this Saga. Those who lived found happiness and it wrapped everything up nicely. I felt like this whole saga was believable, entertaining, and pulled on all the right emotions.
Cece is powerful and delicate in a dynamic and human way. She's an amazing heroine that is a joy to follow through her journey. This whole series is amazing and all the books are top-tier.
The audiobook for this and all the books was amazing and I would highly recommend them! Don't miss out on this fantasy series!

The work of narrators were not bad, I liked their work. I just think it would be better if you record more duet style books!
And now to the story.
I wasn't really invested in the story, and there was not much going on with the plot to keep mine interest. The pace was to fast and illogical most of the time for me. The characters weren't loveable, no strong character development. No world building.
I would give the book 1 ⭐ and for narrators work I would give 4⭐. Overall I would give 2,5⭐

The Godless Kingdom is book four and the tragically beautiful conclusion of The Lost God series. Being able to relive the series through audio was an absolute dream! I’m still in awe of how perfect the narrators are and the emotion they pour into the characters to bring them to life! I highly recommend this series in print and audio.

This captivating novel masterfully weaves together a tale of loyalty, duty, and the unbreakable bonds that form between those who find their way to each other in the darkest of times. It will resonate deeply with fans of complex, emotionally charged romance and fantasy, particularly those who crave stories of found family, self-discovery, and the transformative power of love.

As the characters navigate a world filled with both darkness and light, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, uncovering hidden strengths and confronting their deepest fears.
Through trials and tribulations, they learn the true meaning of family, finding solace and acceptance in the most unexpected of places. The transformative power of love is a central theme, as it mends broken hearts, heals wounded souls, and empowers individuals to rise above their circumstances.

KU✅ (just the e-book!)
I’m honestly not even sure where to start with this review. The book had me wanting to sob and throw up for like the first 3/4 of it lol. Sheila truly just has a way with words and ripped my heart out, stomped on it a bit, but then put it back together so beautifully! These characters go through so much and their emotions were captured so so well. The mental health rep in this series is unreal. TGK was such a perfect ending to this series and wrapped everything up so so well. Thank all the gods we got our HEAs after all the suffering 😅 but I LOVED this series so so much and cannot wait to read The Legacy of Stars next!! Sheila is for sure an auto-buy author for me forever now. The audiobooks were truly fantastic, so if you’re an audiobook girly I highly recommend!!
And to our lovely narrators, @caitlinkellyvo, @jwdamron, @timcampbellvo, and @rustymewha — thank you so much for bringing this beautiful series to life! All of the characters emotions were captured so perfectly.

Ambitious, Tense, but Still Not Winning Me Over
Sheila Masterson’s The Godless Kingdom is packed with high-stakes intrigue, courtly deception, and the ever-present threat of betrayal. The setup is solid—Cecilia and Xander, trapped behind enemy lines, a ruthless tyrant on the throne, and a rebellion brewing in the shadows. The tension is there. The danger is real. And yet, like the rest of this series, it just never fully clicked for me.
I’ve struggled through The Lost God series from the start, always hoping the next book would finally pull me in. And while there are glimmers of potential—sharp political maneuvering, a world teetering on the edge of chaos—it never quite sticks the landing. The pacing drags, making sections feel like a slog rather than the edge-of-your-seat tension they should be. The characters, while interesting in theory, never fully got under my skin. Evan’s subplot, which should have been thrilling, felt underdeveloped. And Rainer’s internal conflict? More like a half-hearted tug-of-war than the devastating reckoning it could have been.
That said, Masterson’s writing is immersive, and if you’ve been invested in the series so far, you’ll probably appreciate the intricate court politics and slow-burning strategies. But for me? This book—like the ones before it—never quite convinced me to care. I wanted to love it. I really did. But now that I’ve made it through, I think I’m finally ready to admit this series just wasn’t for me.

Disclaimer: I did not realize this was book 4 in a series when I requested the ARC.
For not knowing what books 1-3 were about, I found the plot easy to follow. The author did an amazing job with character plot catch ups, character growth and plot development.
The narrator’s had great range of emotion, pacing and storytelling.
It’s a 5 star listen and I plan on getting books 1-3 now too!!

This audio was simply fantastic. What an incredible ending to an amazing series. I can’t say enough good things about the narration, every voice actor did such an amazing job. I loved this story in print and I loved it in my ears too!

I am once again heartbroken and healed after enjoying this series. It's been amazing to experience it in audio. The voice actors were perfect in their roles and I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best audiobook I've ever read. I will read everything Sheila Masterson writes and ignore my love of physical book copies to listen anything Caitlin Kelly, Will Damron, Tim Campbell, and Rusty Mewha narrate.

This book I got is an audio. I loved listening to this story. The multiple narrators did a fantastic job. This story had me laughing, crying, clutching my pearls and trying to guess what was gonna happen next the entire time. This audiobook narrators and the story in general just grabbed you and held you and you had to hold out for the happily ever after.

These audiobooks are nothing short of devastating. The story itself is so captivating and adding in the multiple povs and the different narrators was such a fantastic touch. Truly brought the story to life for this listener!
