In The Godless Kingdom, the narration draws you into a powerful story about characters navigating a world without faith, with a strong focus on their emotional growth during challenging times. Cece's journey from vulnerability to strength, as she faces loss and betrayal, resonates deeply, allowing listeners to connect with her experience and reflect on their own struggles. The narrator’s clear and engaging delivery makes this vivid world all the more immersive. This audiobook serves as a compelling reminder of our capacity for growth in tough situations, leaving a lasting impression as you consider your own path and inner strength. This story already gives so much depth but then adding in the amazing narrators is the icing on the cake. Phenomenal work!

The Godless Kingdom is one of my favorite books, and the narrators absolutely brought this to life. I am so impressed with the performances because this book holds some big emotions. I loved getting to relive this book through them. I loved listening to the final book in The Lost God series, and I know that I could revisit these audiobooks again and again. I loved them and would highly recommend the audiobooks.

This isn’t a book review. This is a letter to the author. SHEILA!! What have you done to me with this audiobook?! This was easily my favorite book of the series. I’m a sucker for emotional abuse from authors, but this wasn’t a mere beating — you took my heart and ran it through the blender. I should have been prepared with snacks, a box of tissues, and a bottle of wine.

I didn’t think you could write even more depth, personality, or growth into these characters, but you certainly proved me wrong. I feel like I know them personally. You’ve managed to make heroes into villains (okay, ish), villains into heroes (again, ish) and sometimes back again. Xander’s character will be a forever favorite. The sass, the incessant flirting, the way he has come so far *chef’s kiss* This entire story has been a wonderful journey, and I’m a little sad to say goodbye to these characters. I’m definitely going to need to re-read the series.

As for the narration on the audiobook- the multiple POVs were handled so well and the narrators were so emotive without overdoing it. This really brought the story to life. This audiobook is an easy recommendation for me.

Well, I don’t recommend listening/reading this book in public. You are either going sit there crying, look incredibly angry, or melt from the spice and hearing “good girl”. I will admit, I held a (loving) grudge against Sheila. Xander hung the moon for me. His heart being broken was too much to bear. Well, little did I know that she would rip my heart apart in even more ways. I mean, I should have expected it. ;)

Xander’s cousin, Vincent, is an evil man. The kind that loves to torment just for his own personal enjoyment. Using poor Rainer as a pawn, while he fights with why he cannot remember what is going on, or why his heart seems to remember what he can’t. He just wants to prove himself. Xander and Cece (Cecilia) are trying to keep it together and find out who can or cannot be trusted inside the court, while Evan works outside to pull together spies to form a plan. For anyone to be caught, it could mean being locked away or even worse, death. For Xander and Cece, the added level of having those they care for dangled as pawns to inflict more pain seems like such an added level of cruelty.

This one took me longer to get through. I had to stop to cry or let my hurting heart heal a bit. It is so worth all the tears. While we have heartbreaking ends, we also see beautiful conclusions. Even if they aren’t the ones we had been hoping for in previous books. I love that even through so much pain, Cece keeps up her feistiness. My favorite line is probably her letting a lady know that her a$$ would never look like hers, because she trains as a warrior, while the lady only sits on hers. I laughed so hard! Even if she paid for chaos she created, she had fun creating it.

This was a wonderful conclusion to the four book series. The audiobook narrators have continued to do an amazing job of pulling you into the story. Caitlin Kelly (Cece). Will Damron (Rainer), Tim Campbell (Xander), and Rusty Mewah (Evan), thank you for adding such an extra layer of emotion to the book. Especially Will. (IFYKYK…GG) Dreamscape Media also did a fabulous job with producing the audiobook. None of this would be possible without the amazing author, Sheila Masterson. Bravo!!! You can pre-order the audiobook (out February 11, 2025), or you can get the ebook, paperback, or hardcover now.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Sheila for giving me the opportunity to get an ALC/ARC of the audiobook, and give an honest review. Just let me know how to split up my therapy bill. :)

I devoted a good chunk of my day to this novel, feeling like I was always one step behind. Then it hit me - I'd jumped straight into the fourth installment of the saga. Once I realized my error, I promptly immersed myself in the preceding books. And let me tell you, it was an epic journey - easily one of the most captivating fantasy series I've had the pleasure of diving into.

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up. A wonderful conclusion to The Lost God Series. We continue with Rainer, Cece, and Xander behind enemy lies. Sheila did a wonderful job writing characters recovering from trauma and moving forward. I enjoyed Cece's journey to healing along with acceptance of the consequences from the previous book. Xander has grown so much as a character over 4 books, and becomes with fully realized man we all knew we could be while keeping his swagger and charm. The Epilogue ruined me in the best way. Bravo Sheila. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review your book.

Audio book review. The characters we know and love meet the conclusion of their story. The narrators brought the emotionally visceral story to life with such care and it broke my heart in the best way. Thank you for a wonderful adaptation and story.

This entire ensemble cast captured the hearts and souls of these characters and I am floored by how perfect this adaptation was for each book in the entire series!

The narrators deliver impassioned performances for their POVs and this audiobook took me through every emotion. I relived the moments each MC pieces together the missing and broken pieces of themselves. I felt their desperation, yearning, and unyielding devotion. And above all, I felt the power of their deeply rooted memories that bind them together.

The Godless Kingdom is a sweeping fantasy that masterfully explores each character’s intangible fears and invisible scars while piecing together the tapestries of their hopes, dreams, and intertwined fates. In The Lost God series, Sheila pens heartachingly beautiful romances that are simply unforgettable.

Thank you Sheila, Dreamscape media, and Netgalley for the ALC opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.

If I could give this a million stars I would. This was such an amazing conclusion to this series!!! It broke me in so many ways and put me back together. The friendships throughout this series have been so wonderful and the way that they supported each other through this one and into the end felt so raw and realistic. The way that she writes such heavy topics and dives into grief and trauma is so detailed and well thought out. Then the way she wove humor throughout this book specifically was a much needed relief but also felt real as a way for these characters to cope. I am literally SO sad to leave these characters behind every single one of these books made me love them more and more. I absolutely adored this entire series and this was the perfect way to end it!!!

“Sometimes love was holding someone’s hand in the silence and waiting for the storm to pass.”

“Brave with my hand, brave with my heart”

This was such an amazing ending to this series, after starting out the series with Cece’s journey, then xanders, it felt right to walk through a book in which Rainer has to find his strength and his way back home. And that ending OMG!!!

This series was an absolute masterpiece every single book a beautiful piece that dove deeper characters that wove this world together.

The way I devoured this audiobook arc and was checking NetGalley everyday to get the next day. I will be recommending to is series to everyone I know because I love a good fantasy story that makes you bawl your eyes out - audiobook recommended if you’re also a crier lol.

I am thankful to Sheila and Dreamscape for the opportunity to read this amazing series for my review and I can’t wait for everyone else to be able to read it as well.

Devastatingly beautiful 💖

This book absolutely destroyed me but then put me back together. This was such a beautiful final book and ticked so many boxes for me. I definitely wasn't prepared for the emotional damage that came with the events of The Godless Kingdom, but the ending was absolutely lovely. The multi POV was excellent and I was excited to read from each character's perspective when it switched, which doesn't always happen. My favourite part of this book was moving on from the love triangle which then allowed for the FMC/MMCs to develop in their own way. I'm an absolute sucker for a gushy HEA and this one was well deserved! I'm going to miss these characters and the audiobook made me that much more attached to them!

✨ Thank you Netgalley and Sheila for trusting me with this early copy of the audiobook. It was absolutely spectacular! ✨

I don’t have a lot more to say about these voice actors and the quality of this series. You have taken a series I have loved and watched Sheila write over the course of our friendship and have given us something so raw, emotional and worthy of the texts. Thank you. I hope you pick up Sheila’s future projects and give us the audiobooks for them.

Thank you netgalley for the audio arc in exchange for an honest review!

Well the finale was what all finales should be
EPIC
A beautiful conclusion to an under hyped series!

The narration was perfect and the character so well written

A book where you don’t want it to end and want to root and cry for the character all at once

Beautiful!

My heart hurt during most of this book, which is a testament to how much Sheila made me care about these characters through the last 3 books. I said in my review for The Storm King that our trio had been going Through It™️, but I didn't even know what was in store for me. So much angst, so many feels. Sheila is great at forcing us to deal with our discomfort (the characters were definitely more uncomfy) to make the story feel real, despite being a fantasy. The resolution was so so satisfying, and I did a literal excited fist up in the air when it all started to fall into place. I appreciated the care that Sheila took in addressing difficult subject matter and also how she wrote characters who were not immediately "fixed" with the completion of plot points. A lot of healing would need to be and was shown. Whew, what a ride.

Audiobook note: I didn't think it would be possible for my heart to hurt more for these characters than it did during my initial read, but oof, the audiobook did it. I love that the POV characters have their own narrator; it definitely adds to the whole production and links you to the characters. The quality of the recording is very good, and I could speed it up without losing clarity with any of the narrators. I loved the audio version of each book in this series, and this one was no different!

Thanks to Dreamscape Media, Sheila, and NetGalley for an ALC of this audiobook for an honest review.

I don’t even know where to begin with this one. It is perfection. Infinite stars. This is the final book of the series and when I say that I am so sad to say goodbye for now to these characters I am understating it. The finality of this story is perfection. Once again Sheila’s ability to write about grief and trauma is unparalleled. I’m so appreciative for characters who feel and process their emotions so fully. The journey this little family goes on is harrowing, profound, empowering, inspiring and beautiful. Thank you Sheila for writing a series that will be etched into my heart forever.

Updated Audiobook Review: I am so unbelievably in awe of this book and to have a cast of narrators bringing life to these characters was an experience I don’t think I will ever get over. It was insanely emotional and made an already fantastic book even better.

Highlights:
✨Found Family
✨Multiple POV
✨Unique Magic
✨Witch x Guardian
✨Vivid and Distinct World Building
✨Amazing Ensemble Cast

Favorite Quotes: “I am all of these broken things. I am all of my wounds and fears, but I am also all of my love and joy. I can be all of those things at once. There’s no clean slate and even if there was I wouldn’t want to forget, not really.”

“Sometimes the best we can do when we are the person with the most power is trust that the people we love deserve the same agency over their lives to decide what is worth sacrificing for.”

“Perhaps it is fine to you as long as there are no visible bruises. It’s the most common violence in the world, you know? The violence that disguises itself as love.”

Thank you to the author and Dreamscape Media for this advanced copy. My opinions are my own.

BREAK MY HEART again and again SHEILA! Then, patch it back together with your words for which I now have no words. You dragged me willingly through blood, sweat and tears and somehow made me (through your characters) feel stronger, more open to hope and possibilities, more accepting and understanding, more human, more real. This series and especially this book had levels of compassion that were enthralling and haunting. I cannot and will not want to forget what you've said so astoundingly and profoundly throughout this saga.
