A beautiful tale of redemption for a shady character amid his pursuit of love. The byline should be "morally ambiguous demon meets their curvy fate". I loved the continuation of the stories of the other demons from the previous book as well as Mist's starring role. Also, love the representation of the curvy female and her right to be loved and worshipped just as she is.
The story had a few heart-palpitating twists that made me want to yell out loud (as if the characters would hear me?!), which was a unique experience I usually reserve for sports on the television.
Highly recommend if you love some sass, romance and a devilishly good time!

ARC / ALC Review:

This book was AMAZING. I loved and enjoyed the ins and outs of the book and how great the storyline merges with the first book story. It left me wanting more, although it wasn't super spicy, the comedy of it makes up for it.
The narrator did such an amazing job with the story of the book, and with it being just one narrator the range was outstanding!

Thank you to Aurora, Kensington, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

It was nice to be back in the quirky Montreal of Ascher's demon series. This time, demon hunter Mist has been trying to adjust to living amongst humans when he meets Irish witch Lily. But will be be able to escape the the underworld he's bound to as a demon hunter?

I would definitely recommend that this book be read after My Funny Demon Valentine - it has more of a background on the fight that is brewing in the underworld and Mist's friends, the four princes of hell. But it was great to visit with these characters again (although I'm still waiting for Belial to try making poutine) and I loved the introduction of Lily, her twin sister Iris and their coven. I'm excited to find out more about the interactions between witch covens and demons. I also really appreciate that Ascher's characters promote body positivity. It's a novel where the heroine loves her body, which made for an accepting, fun read.

Despite being a book about demons and witches, it really is a light and fun book with a sweetly poignant monster romance. I'd recommend to anyone who likes the lighter, cozier side of dark romance.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for the arc of this book. My Demon Hunter is the second book of the Hell Bent series. I absolutely loved the first book in this series. This book tells the story of Mist and Lily. I want to keep this review spoiler free. This book brings back the four demons and Eva from book one in the series. This book gives us a story from Mist's point of view along with Eva's. Mist is definitely a swoon worthy hero. Once I started this book, I did not want to put it down at all. I loved this book as much as book one in the series. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

My Demon Hunter is the second book in the Hell Bent Series by Aurora Ascher. If you are a fan of reading an engaging romantasy with demons, witches, and a fight for freedom, you need this one in your collection.

Lily is a curvy, introverted clothing designer who denies her witch heritage and tries to lead a normal life while ignoring the power she possesses. What happens when a witch in denial gets tossed into a world she is running from while buying ice cream?

Mishetsumephtai (Mist) is a demon hunter who is bound to serve a ruler of hell. Mist has stayed on earth with a group of demons he was hunting to see how life would be if he could be free even though he knows he has to return to serve his ruler. However, things begin to change when Mist runs into Lily and asks to walk her home.

I really enjoyed reading My Demon Hunter. From the first page to the last, I was entertained and completely engrossed in Mist and Lily’s story. I love that Lily is an introverted, curvy girl, which made me feel seen and connected to this character as a reader. Mist is slightly awkward with human interaction which is endearing and reading his struggle to want to be able to interact with Lily is touching. One of the best parts of this book is being able to watch as both characters grow from having self doubt and insecurities to being able to be themselves and grow stronger because of their connection.

Another part of this story that made it fun to read are all of the supporting characters. If you read the first book in the series, you have already met the demons and Eva. I promise they are just as entertaining in this book. I enjoyed their banter and interactions throughout. The addition of Iris, Lily’s twin sister, was a great contrast to Lily since her personality and attitude are the complete opposite, but their love for and loyalty to each other is very strong. Paimon, who is a ruler in hell, is a formidable foe while the Necromancer is an enigma that I’m curious to see what happens if he is in future books in this series.

The world building that is used to create hell was well written and made it easy to visualize what that world looked like. From the underground caves to the fortress, everything is described in great detail and fits with the atmosphere created. I am excited for the continuation of this series and look forward to the next book.

💜 Chocolate ice cream is the key. Happy Reading! 💜

This is a 4.75 for me and it was such a fun and cute read. I can't wait to buy a physical copy for my shelf. I know this is only book 2 of the series so it's silly to have a favorite demon when I am sure I will love the other's stories as well but omg I just loved Mist, and I loved mist and Lilly together. First their first 2 meetings were just so cute and sweet. One of the things I loved about mist is that yes, he is clueless like the other demons in some ways, but his cluelessness combined with his limited exposure with the human would (hasn't been on earth and mostly staying in his apartment) meant he just unabashedly himself not taken on human habits. Like you would think as a demon he would be well versed in lying but honestly, he was honest to a fault but not in a way to be mean. What i mean is he said what he meant and meant what he said and didn't try to live by societies silly rules like trying not to seem overly eager when you're interested in someone. It was so sweet and refreshing.
I also really enjoyed Lilly who seems like a softer and sweeter FMC, and she is that but when Mist was in trouble, she literally jumped into the situation with no thought really to how it would affect her. All she knew is he needed her, and she was going to be there for him. This happened a couple times that while maybe not fully thinking things through she was willing to do anything when it came to Mist, and I just loved that about her. The two of them were equal parts so sweet and also spicy as well.
As I said this is the 2nd in the series and I really enjoyed the first but this one not only was my favorite story, but I think this was my favorite couple too, but I can't wait for the next book to see if I am proven wrong as this is turning into a really fun series to read.

This book is about Mist who is enslaved to an evil demon queen of hell for millennia serving as her hunter. Bringing back those who try to escape her to stand in judgement. He has a nearly perfect record is tested when he finally gets a small taste of freedom on earth that has him abandoning his purpose. Especially he runs into a human female whose smile makes him want to do anything he can to possess her just so he can keep her smile for himself. Now, for Lilly what she thought was maybe a questionable possibly dangerous a midnight junk food run to the corner store turned into an unusual encounter with a beautiful man with unusual tattoos and amber eyes stalking her though the ice cream section asking her opinion on flavors. The connection between the two of the is undeniable but something Mist knows all too well is that one way or another he will be called back to tell and will face punishment for his defiance, a punishment that is worse than death for an immortal being like himself. But he can't seem to care when her sweet scent calls to him like nothing he has hunted before.

This series is so much fun. I was really looking forward to My Demon Hunter and I am glad to report it did not disappoint.

I really liked Mist and his character arc. He just wants freedom and happiness which we can all relate to. I liked seeing him form friendships and romantic love. His literal approach to things was funny. Plus he had an animalistic side to him that was really hot. His "you're mine" was so sexy! Mist was a strong character. I also liked Lily. I liked that she felt realistic. Her reactions to the supernatural was real and so were her insecurities. Both Mist and Lily have great character growth by the end of the book.

The romance here was so good. I definitely swooned over these two. Their relationship felt real in that they both had insecurities to work through. Their relationship was built on respect and trust which I loved. Plus their steamy encounters were quite spicy! I mean when a tail is involved so ya know it's going to be spicy!

The plot is compelling and filled with enough twists to keep it interesting.

Cannot wait for the next installment. Would recommend if you like paranormal romances.

She's a witch who was just looking to get ice cream but finds herself running into an extremely hot and sweet tattooed guy at the store... who just happens to be an infamous Hunter and demon from Hell. Lily Donavon has a tragic past and has done everything in her power to forget about her heritage as a witch. Mishetsumephtai "Mist" is a demon that has been enslaved to the evil demon queen for years, he is forced to be her hunter... he is known as "The Hunter" the best there ever was in Hell... but he finds himself questioning his duty and wanting a companion for himself... so he hides and takes a "leave" of work.... and then he meets Lily. Mist and Lily immediately hit it off and she doesn't know he's a demon... but his clock is running out as his queen is demanding he return to work... and when his secret comes out can Lily still love him? This is the second book in the series and what a delightful one it is! I've loved reading this series so much and each book is such a great time. It's romantic, it's funny, and it's got heart. It's seriously such a fun time to read and a paranormal romance series I would highly recommend!

My Demon Hunter was such a fun time! This story is based around a Demon named Mist who has gone rogue from his duties as Demon Hunter for the Queen of Hell, but is still bound to her against his will. When he meets a seemingly ordinary woman, Lily, his world turns upside down because she too has a tormented past and a secret she’s tried to forget.
I fell in love with Mist the second he meets Lily and asks for her help choosing an ice cream flavor for another “menstruating woman”. Mist’s lack of human customs and primal demeanor give him an element of innocence that make me want to hug him. And once he started to let his guard down and express his own struggles, I melted. I’m a sucker for a tormented soul who needs fixing… and a good, rumbling chest growl.

"I'm purchasing ice cream for a menstruating female. She demanded chocolate. But both have the word "chocolate' in the title, and I don't know which she would prefer"

"But you should refuse because it's not wise to allow a stranger to discover your lair"

This series is so funny, yet so heart warming! I love the awkwardness of Mist and the shyness of Lily. In this installment of the series the demons not only continue to fight for their freedom but a set of twins as well. The continuous episodes of "Mine" were pretty cute as well.

The main couple and their journey are extremely sweet. It was great that they were patient with each other, explained things and problems to each other, and evolved as characters. The ending was extremely sweet. I do wish there was more of the magic/witch content.

Spice 4/5

This goes extremely slow at the 60% mark. I wasn't a fan of the lagging and it going nowhere for a good portion of the middle. It was really annoying as well that at EVERY instance of danger the characters stopped and bickered or asked questions. Seriously, SHUTUP AND MOVE!

There’s just something about a demon pretending to be human, but having no clue how a human talk, acts, or engages with other people…I will eat this up every single time!!

Mishetsumephtai aka Mist (thank GOD for the nickname because that is a mouthful) just wants freedom from his hunting binds, to understand what love is, and to exist as his own being for the first time in millennia. Enter Lily, a fashion designer who’s not quite as mortal as she seems, the human of Mist’s dreams. The two find each other, find acceptance of themselves, fighting both inner and outer demons in the name of love!!

This was such a fun second book, I loved getting to see the demon brothers back again, expand our paranormal world, and build the bigger mystery of what the Hell is happening in Hell!! Thanks so much to Aurora Ascher and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review!

🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 (4.5/5)

Aurora Ascher delivers a gripping paranormal romance in My Demon Hunter, blending dark intrigue, sizzling chemistry, and a world teeming with danger and desire. This book hooked me from the very first page with its rich world-building and compelling characters.

I loved how the author crafted a dynamic relationship that evolves naturally, with trust hard-won and betrayals lurking at every corner. The writing is immersive, the pacing tight, and the twists kept me turning pages late into the night. Fans of enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance, and paranormal intrigue will devour this book!

This book was so fun...I read it in one sitting. Mist was such a marshmallow for Lily. I liked that there was adventure and suspense, not just romance. I never buy e-books but I bought My Funny Demon Valentine after reading My Demon Hunter. That's how much I loved the world that Ascher has created.

So far this is my favorite book in the series. I really enjoyed Mist’s character. And there was a lot more world building and Hell politics which really added to the story. I might be hooked and want to know what will happen.

You can’t hide from your destiny. Lily has always kept away from her powers and she never wanted to believe in them. But now that she has met Mist who happens to be a demon. She realises that she can use them to save him from hell. Mist knows that he will never be free from the queen of hell but he wanted to live a normal life on earth. But everything is lost now as he will rather die that let Lily be taken by her. But he forgets how strong Lily is & with the help of a friend she is able to save him. But can they really ever be free from Hell?
A great read. Excellent storyline and characters. Lily is a fierce plus size witch that doesn’t give up on saving the demon that she loves. No matter how stacked the odds are against her she refuses to give up on Mist.
Mist has been the queen of hell’s hunter forever and he has always known that he could never be free. But he will fight to the death if needed to keep Lily safe. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the ARC copy. This is my voluntary review.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Hell Bent series. My Demon Hunter was even better than My Funny Demon Valentine. I’m a sucker for demonology stories, and these are filled with all kinds of interesting characters. This one features a plus-sized FMC, and I’m so excited about this because I identify as a curvy girlie. There is something about reading characters with whom you connect and share the same experiences that change your whole perspective. These books have such great banter, and the spice is SO GOOD. Mist has a tail, btw 🥴 If you’re looking for a fun read, I highly suggest this series.

Thank you NetGalley for the ebook arc. I love this series, following demon brother each falling in love in their own still stories. This one follows Mist as he falls for Lily but she’s a witch and he thinks she is repulsed by him. He decides to go back to hell and serve out his penitence. She decided to summon him and tell him the truth. The banter and spice make this series 5 stars, and defiantly a book you can binge.

Loved it! I honestly didn’t think it could get any better than the first book! I was wrong. Truly amazing. Loved mist! Can’t wait for the next book!!!

My Demon Hunter by Aurora Ascher is the follow-up in the series.
It is also written in third-person POV. The pacing and style kept me focused throughout the story.

Mishetsumephtai, or Mist, is the hunter from My Funny Demon Valentine. He was previously tracking Ash and after observing them realized he might want what they were enjoying. Enter Lily Donovan, and everything Mist thought he knew shifts.

The way that Lily sees herself was so raw and realistic to me. I felt like I could see myself in her, and I am so appreciative for those moments.

I loved watching their story unfold, and yet again the banter and friend group was top tier. Aurora is such a talented author and I love this series so much!!!

I am a die-hard fan of paranormal romance and you better believe I ate this book up! Aurora Ascher has such a witty writing style and voice that you can't help, but laugh at every page. The characters are all-around lovable and snarky, which is definitely a plus to any story (at least, in my opinion). The romance between the characters was also very tender and light-hearted. Their personalities were polar opposites, yet the chemistry was scorching hot. This was an overall fun, quick, and swoony-worthy read! I would highly recommend this book if you are in the mood for a fast-paced paranormal romance read with hilarious characters.
