This book is great for adults who have to re-read books many times with their children. While the jokes and "snark" in this book will be above the heads of the target audiences, adults will get a good laugh.

What will happen when a snarky shark learns he may not be the biggest fish in the sea?
Kids LOVE shark books, so we'll be adding this one to the library's picture book collection. The illustrations by Nikolas Ilic are delightful! This is one of the punniest books I've read in a long time.

We are a shark loving family!! We fully enjoyed this book and will most likely purchase the physical copy when it comes out.

The word play in this book is exquisite! I reread it several times just to reveal more and more layers. I was delighted by the shenanigans of Snarky Sharky. Highly recommend for a fun and engaging read!

The biggest and the baddest is all relative.
Ungrateful for his situation, ungrateful for his fans, Snarky Shark learns the hard way that bigger isn’t always better. Fantastic illustrations and a story with great depth and delightful puns reveal how fleeting shallow bravado can be.
Thanks to @NetGalley for sharing this DRC with me for an honest review.

It is probably not good to start off a review by saying that the only thing that this book really has going for it is the illustration. But I have said it. The artwork was the star in this book, holding up what was a really disappointing story. There was a ton of potential for Snarky to be a better book, and I went in with high hopes because of the cover. Maybe it was my fault because I truly expected this to be a book in verse so that started a downward path to overall disappointment. Like why could this not have been done with a catchy rhyme. There were few enough words that it could have / should have been possible. The story never came together for me. Sure, Snarky learned a lesson, but I never quite got his snark or how it truly impacted the other fish in the sea.
Just meh. Not sure I would recommend this even to a parent whose child loves sharks.

Snarky Sharky is a funny little story about a not-so-nice shark who tires of his home and neighbors and sets out to find something bigger and better. Unfortunately, he finds a little more than he bargained for. This book was full of little puns that made me chuckle, but it seemed that most of them would go over small children's heads. I read it with my 7-year-old as a test, and while he either didn't understand or didn't care for most of the jokes, he thought the porpoise line was hilarious! I did enjoy the colorful, exaggerated illustrations, but unfortunately, I just did not love this one like I thought I would. I didn't care for the shark's behavior, and I thought the jokes were more suited to a slightly older audience.

Thank you to NetGalley and Publisher Spotlight for the eARC!
This one was a fun idea and had lots of cute sea creatures. I don't think the humor would work for most 3-7 year olds. The puns might be moderately funny for adults, but I think they would go over most children's heads.

So this one just wasn't for us...the shark was just a bit too snarky for us and the humor was not for my kiddo (age 4). I can see how it would be better for kids around the 6 year age mark; they may understand the humor a bit more. But for us, it was a miss. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book.

Hilarious. I love these kinds of thick bright illustrations, and who doesn't love shark stories? This shark is VERY snarky, and while a kid might not get all the pins, adults will giggle too. These are mainly puns, which can be groan worthy, but the wordplay is light and fun.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

The description of the Snarky Sharky book is…
“a hilarious book for ages 3-7 filled with quick wit and puns.”
No it’s overrun with puns that the majority of kids 3-7 won’t even get.
Here are examples of the Fishy puns: the octopus “suck”, the starfish are “always missing the point”, and the clams should calm down before they “pull a mussel.” Groan…
After eating and spitting out a clown fish that tastes funny, Snarky is fed up and heads out for open waters, boasting that he’s the big deal. But his famous last words find him near the mouth of a much larger and hungry fish. The story ends abruptly.
The biggest asset of the book is the lovely, lively illustrations.

This was hilarious!! I want to be besties with the snarky shark. My children LOVE this shark. Thanks for the laughs.

Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it. Thank you for this advance reading copy!

My kid saw this cover and asked to read it. We have been home with influenza A and I let him peruse the book covers on Netgalley.
We were a bit underwhelmed with this one. I get why it's "snarky" but some of it went over my kid's head. He's a smart five year old too. Some of the puns and jokes were a little too much. The best part of this book are the illustrations. The book is so gorgeous and we love anything that's under the sea. I felt like it ended a bit abruptly too.
Overall, I would probably pass on this one. We both agreed after we finished it that it was just okay.
Many thanks to Tiger Tales and Netgalley for an e-ARC. All thoughts an opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions written are completely honest and my own.
So many wonderful puns! Snarky is an awful role model, but his sea mate sure are funny.

My kid loved this book. I didn't find it particularly unique but he's deep into shark books with potty humor. Def a hit in our house.

Kids love shark books. You would have to teach snarky to younger kids so they would understand. It is a simple fun story.

This is a funny and cute picture book about a shark with an attitude! The text is very clever, but the illustrations is where this book really shines. This book is filled with puns and plays on words that sometimes don't connect with younger readers, but if you take the time to explain them, you'll likely get lots of giggles. This book will be very popular with Pre-K through 3rd grade!
