3.5- I liked the book but it felt like a million years of build up. I wish we’d had a more impactful climax but it was kinda meh. I also think a last minute twist/who done it? Would’ve really put it over the edge. Resolution was mid.

I'm so happy I don't have a twin!
Mia and Chloe are sisters - twins, in fact. They have grown up together, Mia the more outgoing of the two, popular and outgoing while Chloe is quieter, more reserved. But Mia is a master manipulator, and her behaviour has not made for a smooth relationship and Chloe has been more than happy to build a life of her own, away from Mia. Until, that is, Mia returns and she hasn't changed a bit; she still covets everything and anything which Chloe has - including her fiance, Scott. But Chloe won't allow that to happen, not again . . .
This is a gripping tale of sisters where one deliberately overshadows the other at every turn and it makes for compulsive reading. I was in it's thrall from the beginning right through to the very end. I'm very glad I chose to read this one, it's really well written and merits all five stars and my recommendation.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley.

The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone had a compelling premise and some genuinely tense moments. However, I found myself struggling to keep the twin sisters straight towards the end, which unfortunately detracted from the final impact. Secrets, lies, jealousy … this book had it all. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release. Looking forward to more books by this author.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an Advanced Readers Copy of The Quiet Sister. This is a fast paced thriller about twin sisters with extremely different personalities. But things turn when one twin disrupts the life of the other. This book has lots of twists and turns with the tumultuous relationship of the sisters.

Full disclosure, this isn't the first Alex Ston I've read and after reading her latest offering, The Quiet Sister, it certainly won't be the last.
Difficult to review without giving spoilers away, but the author has absolutely nailed the sibling/sister's relationship. The twists and turns were all there making it a page turning roller-coaster of a ride and, as with the previous novels, there was hope and the ending was particularly satisfying.
A great read.
Highly recommend.

Family dynamics are unique to each family. Some weird. Some wonderful. Some all of the above and more. And there is always what only "your" relationship can fathom. Outsiders just wpuodnt get it. So when this book on sisters came about my interest was piqued. Definitely because it didn't hide the fact this wasn't about liking a sister and the possible nit picking of usual family dynamics. No no these two weren't on each other's side at all.
It was twisty. Pushed you then pulled you in all directions. And what you assume it then hands you a completely different outcome in terms of who's side where we on.
Definitely a great psychological thrill.

I had high hopes for this one—twin sisters, long-buried resentment, secrets, betrayal, murder, and plenty of bitterness—the perfect setup for a gripping psychological thriller. Unfortunately, it took until about 65% in for the story to truly pick up. While the twists were intriguing, the characters were more frustrating than anything else. It left me more irritated than invested, making it hard to fully connect with the story.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for providing an advanced reader’s copy 🤎

Twin drama promised fireworks, but this book fizzled. Mia, the golden twin, and Chloe, the simmering shadow, quickly became a predictable loop of manipulation and resentment. Think of it like watching a hamster on a wheel – you get the point fast, and it doesn't get more exciting.
The characters? Let's just say they weren't winning any popularity contests. Mia was a masterclass in selfishness, and Chloe perfected the art of passive victimhood. The supporting cast felt like cardboard cutouts, popping up only to push the plot along, which, by the way, was about as surprising as a sunrise.
"Twists" were telegraphed like a neon sign, and the pacing? Imagine trying to wade through treacle. The story dragged, repeating itself like a scratched record, leaving me wondering if the manuscript could have benefited from a more rigorous polish.
This book had potential, the whole twin rivalry thing is juicy! But it landed with a thud. Predictable, unlikable, and repetitive. It wasn't a total write-off, but it definitely needed a serious tune-up.

Interesting twist on twins and domestic abuse. I thought this book ultimately gave more than I expected.

Initially I thought that the reliance on the twin connection was a bit overdone, but halfway through the book I ended up loving exploring that deeper connection. I was rooting for Mia then Chole and it kept switching as the twists kept coming.
I was really impressed with how the ending played out and (not included in the Goodreads review because of spoilers), but Mia was an absolute peice of work and I am so glad that Chloe got her happy ending after all she went through and with the release of guilt as well)

This book is so good. it makes you wonder if you know what you think you know. I got invested in the characters Mia and Chloe and had to know what happened. There were twists and turns that made me wondering if I knew who the murderer really was and the motive. I really want to see what else this author has written.

This is a good story.
Dark telling of domestic abuse.
I loved how it unfolded.
I loved how it showed how insecure both women were

Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC of this book.
Sadly this book did absolutely nothing for me. Found it very confusing and an unsetling read. The twins who seeming have never been happy with what life has dealt for them.
Sorry definitely won't be hurrying to read this author again.

A strong premise which ended up stretching the bounds of credibility for me. That didn’t detract much from my enjoyment of a well written book with some interesting characters.

Twins Mia and Chloe are not the close twins at all. They are so very different. Live totally separate lives. Parents both dead, they have grievances towards each other. Can they repair their relationship. Scott comes into Chloe’s life, but he is everything that he portrays. Secrets and lies lead to devastating consequences.
Great read. Thankyou.

Thanks to NetGalley for the early access. While I feel that putting this book in the Thriller category is a stretch, it was a good storyline.
Mia was a bully. Chloe was the ultimate people pleaser. They may have been twins but they were night and day different and their relationship was tumultuous to say the least.

The premise of the book is unique and I enjoyed parts of the story, overall I found the book far fetched and the mystery of their mother dying underwhelming. I appreciated the ARC from the publisher and Net Galley

The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone
Although this was a book from a writer I had never known before, when I read the description I really wanted to read it and was really pleased when I got that chance with an ARC from #NetGalley and the publisher Bold Books. All opinions here are my own.
This is a book about an identical twin who changed places with her sister and it takes place after her sister's murder.
I soon became totally engrossed in the story which was told almost totally from the perspective of the surviving twin.
Instead of using memories like have been used in many books the author used the mechanics in which entire chapters were flashbacks. This at first surprised me and it took me a little while to understand what was going on.
At the start it was a bit confusing since the chapters kept flashing back and forth from then to now but once I read for a,while I was able to truly understand the flow and became completely immersed in the story eagerly looking forward to my next reading time .
The book was filled with murder betrayal and all the best elements of a psychological thriller book.
Throughout the twists and turns and surprises kept me eager to read more and I was quite satisfied at the end.
The characters were well written and the descriptions made it very easy to follow .
I definitely recommend this book. I give it 4 stars and anyone that loves thrillers and murder mysteries will enjoy it.

Mia and Chloe are twins, but there is an undercurrent of jealousy running through their relationship. Chloe has longed to be close to Mia, so when she strolls back into her life Chloe is excited at the prospect of finally getting that. When tragedy strikes, Chloe is finally able to have the life she has always dreamed of, but at what cost?
I really wanted to love this book. I felt it was predictable and it lacked the twists I was looking for. It wasn't a bad book, but I just found it lacking.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC.

I had trouble staying engaged in the book due to the fact it kept jumping around so much. It was such a struggle to finish, I would not recommend this book to my friends or family. And I would not read this author again.
