Jennifer Carr’s Let Me Love You is a gripping blend of suspense, mystery, and romance, following the journey of Kensi, a woman desperate to escape the oppressive grip of her father and husband. Fearing for her life, she flees to a quiet Texas town, hoping for solace and a fresh start. However, danger is never far behind, and as she struggles to reclaim her independence, she also finds herself drawn to an unexpected romance.

Carr masterfully balances tension and emotional depth, crafting a story that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. Kensi is a well-developed protagonist—her fear is palpable, yet her determination makes her a character worth rooting for. The small-town setting adds charm and contrast to the darker elements of the plot, while the romance builds naturally, adding warmth to the suspenseful narrative.

The novel’s pacing is steady, with just the right amount of twists to maintain intrigue. Carr’s writing is engaging, making the reader feel both the danger looming over Kensi and the hope she discovers in her new life. The emotional stakes are high, and the romance is not just a subplot but an integral part of Kensi’s journey toward freedom.

Overall, Let Me Love You is a compelling read for fans of romantic suspense. It offers a mix of heart-pounding moments, emotional healing, and the promise of new beginnings. Carr delivers a story that is both thrilling and heartwarming, making it a must-read for those who enjoy strong heroines and love stories woven with danger and resilience.

A woman outrunning her past, a small town providing a safe haven, and a man determined to protect a stranger.

While the very beginning of Kensi's story drew me in completely, the overly descriptive and repetitive narration started taking a toll on my level of interest. A quarter of the way into the book, all the secrets are on the table - something I anticipated to have more at the climax of the story than in the initial foundations of character building and scene setting. The author spent far more time waxing poetic than creating an actual sense of connection with and between the characters.

Ultimately, all things considered, 75% of this book could be removed and it wouldn't take away from the story at all - and in fact might increase the amount of readers who finish it.

This is an emotional and powerful story. It’s about Love, finding the strength and the true value of yourself and more. Kensi’s journey is deeply inspiring.

I loved the way how Kensi’s & Wyatt’s romance bloomed in the book. There’s no instant or rushed but it develops gradually, making it all the more believable and heartwarming and their love story feels natural, filled with small, meaningful gestures and Kensi deserves it. Not only the romance, the book is an action packed one that keeps you on edge.

With a perfect balance of emotional depth, and thrilling action, Let me love you is a must read.

After escaping a horrible situation, Kensi boards a bus to Houston and when she ends up at the Yellow Rose Inn in Liberty, Texas she finds solace, protection, friendship and home!

At The Yellow Rose Inn, she is welcomed and taken in by the owner Evelyn who happens to have a swoony, protective veteran/bartender/country singer of a son, Wyatt. 🫠 LOVED THESE TWO!

We get a bit of damsel in distress (always a yes for me), but Kensi truly finds herself, her passion, makes genuine friendships in Stephen and Missy and sweet Evelyn brings depth and meaningful moments to this story.

I felt swooned by this book. Which is a yay from me. I loved the strengths both our couple bought to the table. I felt such awe for the bravery of Kensi and her story added new depth to the read.
Wyatt was so lovely, tender and protective and their connection felt so pure and real.
I really enjoyed this book. Definitely a step deeper than a chic lit. Definitely a romance.

I received this book at an ARC. This is the 3rd of the Real American Country series & I have fallen in love with each story. Kensi & Wyatt’s story kept me in a hold. Kensi is coming from a horrible situation in life and steps into a small town to find Wyatt. Wyatt is super protective and so genuine. Kensi rebuilds herself after very traumatic situations and is slow to find herself but doesn’t push Wyatt away. I loved this story and cannot wait for the next book in this series.

3 1/2 Stars

I liked Wyatt and Kensi well enough ... I just didn't love them. I liked that Kensi was strong enough to leave her husband and felt sorry for her that she was always looking over her shoulder. Then there's Wyatt ... got that he was an ex-SEAL, a bar owner and owned a security company, but I just found it too much that he was an aspiring country singer as well. I know there are a lot of other people who would love it.

Kensi flees from her controlling abusive husband and ends up in Liberty, Texas. Wyatt was a SEAL but now he owns a bar in his home town and has a personal security company on the side. When Wyatt meets Kensi at his mother's bed and breakfast, he is smitten. Will Wyatt be able to protect Kensi and will Kensi ever feel safe?

Let Me Love You by Jennifer Carr is my first experience reading this author’s work but based on this book, I will most definitely be reading more from this author. This book is the third in the Real American Country series and even though I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the first 2 books, I had no problem so I would categorize this as a standalone.

Kensi and Wyatt’s love story is a heartbreaking story, as well as a thought-provoking story. I quickly became invested in these very well-developed characters. The story flows nicely and the author’s writing style put me right in the middle of this beautiful little town in Texas. I always enjoy a book better if there are secondary characters and storylines and this book didn’t disappoint in that area either. I enjoyed getting to know the other characters and their stories which just added to the overall delight I found in reading this book. I loved how strong and brave Kensi was and I really enjoyed experiencing her growth throughout this book. Wyatt is the perfect soul mate for Kensi–fiercely protective, kind, sweet and supportive. I most definitely recommend Let Me Love You if you’re looking for a clean, contemporary romance. I’m grateful to have been given an opportunity to read an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.
