Another amazing thriller by Hendricks.
This short story is an intense thriller you will not want to put down!
Amazing story telling who weave prose and suspense together like it's her web.

The Sublet by Greer Hendricks is a mini thriller. It started off really intriguing but the end seemed a little rushed. A quick and interesting read nonetheless.

I read the story as a send up of wellness influencers, rental housing gone wrong and ghostwriting…three of my very favorite topics to skewer. Not sure what happened to the short story form there use to be something called One Story where you could subscribe and get a story a month..there also use to be literary magazines lots of them may we not forget. Given the decline of anything well written with the momentum of a plot I was
happy to spend an hour reading with focus. the family domestic scenes were fun…esp the twins left to there own devices with Pirates Booty and the
usual bickering via text. Three and a half plus plus stars because it isn’t Lauren Groff

Quick short story. Really wasn’t much to it. It felt odd and slightly rushed. Maybe short stories just aren’t for me.

I feel a little conflicted about this one. It was a quick read and obviously it’s a short story, but it felt a little too fast paced and rushed at the end. The beginning started off promising though and I liked the concept. The ending reveal just felt obvious and fast. Maybe this could’ve been stronger as a full length book?

Overall promising premise and held my attention for the short time it took to read this short story. It felt like there was some untapped potential here, especially knowing how much I have loved some of the author’s full length novels. Regardless, glad to have read this but it probably isn’t one that will be on my mind for too long.

This book was written by two of my fave authors. I am very thankful I got to review this book.
This short story was very good and left me stumped until tue end.
I can’t wait to read more by this duo.

The premise is great and the story caught my interest immediately. But it fell flat quickly. I expected a thriller, but only got a lot of fluff. I have read and really liked several books by Greer Hendricks, so I was a bit disappointed with this one.
Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

Anne is a ghost writer who has just signed an NDA to write a motivational wellness book for Melody Wells. A bit overwhelmed with balancing the demands of her job with married life and twin children, Anne and her family are in desperate need of a larger apartment. Melody assists her by telling her about an almost too good to be true sublet that is available. After she moves, Anne realizes all may not be as it appears in the new apartment and the history of its previous tenant.
This is a short story written by an author who has co authored a number of books I have enjoyed. This was a quick, but entertaining read. It is a mystery bordering on horror. I loved how Hendriks captured the “new agey” and cringiness of Melody, a wellness guru. I did think that the story wrapped up a very quickly.

The Sublet is a short story from Greer Hendricks.
"Anne is barely hanging in there. She's juggling nine-year-0ld twins, ghostwriting deadlines and a drifting marriage in a crowded Manhattan apartment. She gets a new client - Melody, a newly famous self-help guru. Anne thinks she might be able to turn a corner to a little success especially after Melody points her to a new apartment. But little things start happening and Anne wonders what she's really agreed to."
Hendricks packs a lot of activity into this short story. You can feel Anne's malaise, her borderline desperation and her fear about the unknowns at the new apartment. Melody's whole schtick is hilarious with the Lavender theme and motivational There's a couple of twists that Hendricks surprises you with that make this a great story.

The Sublet was a quick read that most likely will not stick with me. It was a good palate cleanser but it was hard to get too invested in a short story thriller

Super quick read with lots of potential. It starts off as a very strong thriller but just seems so rushed in the last couple chapters.

This book grabbed my attention immediately and didn’t let go until I finished it! The story moved at a rapid pace. Hendricks did a great job weaving the sublet apartment into the plot, actually making it a character as well, and tying everything up into a feasible resolution. My criticism is that I wish the plot went deeper, particularly with the two main female characters. It seemed too short, even as a short story. Overall, it was a fast, decent read as a time filler/waiting room type read.

Well this sure packed a punch for such a short story! Unique and captivating! Many thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this copy for read and review

3 stars - this should have been longer - felt like it had more to say than what was on the page. Thanks Net Galley & Amazon for the free "read now" ARC

This was a very quick and easy read, took me less than an hour. I did like the storyline but I felt the ending was super rushed and confusing and could have been much better.

A short mini thriller!
I was enticed to see something by Greer Hendricks - I have really enjoyed her other books. I love a short story too. I think they’re a great book palate cleanser. I was interested in how that would read as a mystery.
This story is about a ghostwriter writing a novel for an enigmatic and eccentric fitness persona. Her family also sublets an apartment that seems too good to be true and she starts noticing creepy oddities.
This book kept my attention, but it’s so challenging to write a thriller in the short story format. It all wrapped up so quickly that it was a bit unsatisfying. With that said, I tore through this!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are my own.

Suspenseful, but something was missing from the story to make it compelling.
Thank you very much to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for the advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was enjoyable to read and the characters felt realistic. I had some issues with the pacing, as I felt that it easily could've been longer and still kept up the interest and suspense. I do feel like the author did a bit of a cop-out in the end when it came to the reason for the death that occurred before the beginning of the story. It would have been better if the author had done some more research on the actual way a death like that would have worked. It also felt like a let down that the supplements were hyped up as so dangerous, but the main character didn't really experience any negative consequences for taking them. She didn't really experience consequences for any of the questionable decisions she made, including ones that impacted her relationship, and the ending felt contrived due to that.

the sublet is a short story that follows a ghostwriter, anne, as she collaborates with a wellness influencer, melody, while staying in a sublet apartment that feels unsettling.
well, it was a nice and short read. good for a break between longer books, but overall - nothing spectacular.
it was a bit short paced and not much happened in the first ⅔ of the story. there were slightly eerie vibes, but they fell flat to me.
i wasn't satisfied with the ending. it seemed abrupt and rushed and i think it could have been developed further.
the characters felt underdeveloped, but since it is a short story, i'm able to understand why.
i highly recommend it to readers who are looking for something easy and super quick to read!
