I struggled a bit with The Spring Dragon (second book in the Dragos Primeri series). I found book one enjoyable, but the narrative shift in book two (from Quen to Aldewin/Ishna) didn't quite work for me. I didn't mind Aldewin's sections, but I never got into Ishna's POV. I confess I read only a little epic fantasy, so perhaps it was just getting behind a dragon narrator that put me off; I didn't find those scenes compelling and missed Quen's wittier narration. I am giving this book three stars, as it was still an action-packed story. However, I think I will probably end my reading of the series here. That's not a reflection on the quality of this book but rather based on my personal preferences. I see from reviews on Goodreads that many other readers liked this second volume as much as, if not more than, the first, so my rating is really because it didn't suit my tastes. If you are keen on dragon narrators and the higher end of epic fantasy, I am sure you will find something to like with this series.

OMG!! Natalie! You did it with this one!
I grabbed this ARC not having read the first. So, I was able to read the first and second back to back, and mannnnn I am so glad I did. This series has a special place in my heart.
The story building, the characters, and the overall vibe of the book is amazing and I can't get over how good these two books are. I find it hard to follow along to some fantasy, as the writing is a bit to drawn out, but this is well paced and easy to follow. I was entranced and had a hard time putting it down.
Dragon fantasy is something I am IN LOVE with and this just made me love it even more!
Thank you for letting me read this book and I can't wait to read what happens next!
Personal Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Don't get me wrong, I love fantasy, but I just could not get into this story line. Maybe it's because I didn't read book 1 (if that had anything to do with it), but I just felt really lost and couldn't connect with the characters. I finished the book, but it took much longer than anticipated

This was a very good book. It is the second book in the series and you definitely wed to read the first book before reading this one. But I highly recommend this series!

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for giving me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a fun sequel and I really like the expanded world building! The mixed POV is a little disjointed, but I can understand why it is there. I am so curious to see where the story is going to go from here.
