I enjoyed reading this book and was honored to be chosen to read the ARC. This book kept me laughing with how comedic and witty the FMC was. The story line was particularly relatable as I have also related to domestic abuse, but aside from that, the story in of itself was relatable. There was definitely a plot twist throughout it all. It got me twice while I was reading, and I literally never saw it coming. I will say I wanted more of the ending but that's also because I expect every book to end in a marriage or babies. I will defiitley reread this book as well as recommend it 10 times over!

this was such a cute book!! i adore marlee; she is so strong, and i literally just want to give her a hug 😭 this book covers and explores a topic -- violence against women -- and i think explores it beautifully. sebestian was so good to and for her, and i absolutely love their relationship! peters definitely knows how to write and make me love (and hate!) the characters in this book.
thank you to netgalley & vyk peters for this arc!

I enjoyed this book and am glad the author touched on domestic violence issues. I’m grateful Marlee was able to escape from her tormentor. My one complaint would be when mentioning having sex, to not use the “f” word. In my humble opinion, making love is preferable to vulgarity. Don’t get me wrong, I’m hardly a prude, but when two people are in love, I think it makes a difference.

This book has given me a whole new meaning to reviewing books. The story of Marlee and Seb is heartbreaking, funny, romantic and suspenseful all at once and I lapped this book up like you wouldn’t believe. Lord of trigger warnings but nothing I felt uncomfortable even with trauma backgrounds.

I loved King of Hearts so I was excited to get my hands on King of Clubs!
When we left Marlee in book one, we could see something wasn’t right in her relationship with Lucas and it’s discovered pretty quickly here that we were right. As Marlee is getting back on her feet after leaving her abusive ex, she crosses paths with Seb, the broody bar owner who is also a friend of her BFF’s fiancé. They are instantly drawn to each other, but Marlee finds it hard to trust and Seb has never had an actual relationship. Seb is really such a sweetheart with her…he’s patient, supportive, protective, and really tries to be what she needs.
These two had great chemistry and tension from the start and the spice scenes were a good mix that reflected the feelings at that point of the storyline. Some were fast, some were slow, some showed a willingness to take some risks.
The only thing that threw me was her BFF’s lapse during the plot twist. I won’t say more, but it really didn’t track with how protective of Marlee she had been up to that point.
A change-up from the first book, this one comes with some trigger warnings, a little suspense, and a plot twist. While it’s a standalone in the connected series, I would really recommend reading King of Hearts first.
A big thanks to Vyk and Netgalley for this ARC! I’m really looking forward to Cooper and Eva’s story 😊

I have to say that I enjoyed this book more than book 1. Marlee and Sebastian’s relationship was beautiful and I loved how they grew together. I liked both of these characters in book 1 so was excited they got to have their own story for book 2. The spice was great and the story was also good. Can’t wait for more in this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the characters were loveable, the storyline gripping and the writing was fantastic.
The way the author wrote with such care about such a sensitive topic as DV was amazing. They really showed what it was like in the aftermath for a victim and had me feeling all the feels for Marlee’s character.
And the spice, it just HIT *chefs kiss*, I loved it. I absolutely adored Sebastian, I mean when the MMC’s say things like “Without even trying, you buried yourself in the depths of my bloodstream until I felt as though I couldn't function without you.” How can you not melt a little?
Highly recommended, but as always check the trigger warnings and look after your mental health first.

Let me start by apologizing because I remember absolutely nothing from the first book. Oops.
This one? It's fine. Not bad, not amazing—just okay. Sebastian and Marlee were clearly meant to be, and the tension between them was thick from the very start. But the storyline? Took some weird turns. And honestly? It dragged on a bit too long.
Also, fair warning—there are some pretty heavy topics in this one. So, if you’re picking it up, be prepared.

Read this so fast I almost forgot to eat! More than a romance, some tense and serious topics of domestic violence, battering, stalking, kidnapping, and mental illness are handled well and create a complex plot around regaining trust and self confidence. Of course not without friends and love in the mix. Great cast of characters round things out.

Vyk Peters is at it again with a story that grips you with personal growth, communication, a little sprinkling of drama and a lot of stream. Seb and Marlee sound great together and sebs house sounds like my dream! It was great seeing arna and Andy blossom in the background!
I wondered what king of spades would be so I am excited to see copper introduced as the owner of spade distilleries and I look forward to seeing the potential relationship with Eva. Who will flix get with? How will it involve diamonds?
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.
