This worked well and ticked all the boxes for me. This is a new detective series for me as well as a new author. I found the narration suited the style and worked well.
Yes there were loads of coincidences but that is part of getting involved in a story where you have to suspend belief and just get involved in the story.

Where Lost Girls Go is book number one in the Detective Casey White series. Fourteen years ago Casey was the mother to a little girl called Hannah. Until the unthinkable happened and Hannah was taken. All these years later Casey has never given up on finding her daughter.
Her obsession in finding her daughter comes to a head when she is forced to take leave from her job. She heads to the Outer Banks for a holiday. Even though this trip is meant to be relaxing she cant help but work on her daughters file. When a young pregnany girl runs out in the road , Casey is forced to intervene. It turns out she has been held captive for years . Then the body of a young girl is found Casey cant help getting involved in the case . Is it related to her daughter ? You will have to pick up a copy . B. R Spangler writes in some twists and turns. I did find it hard to warm to the character of Casey and felt the story dragged in places. Unfortunately i have to give this one three stars.

I tried, but I couldn't even listen to this book. The narrator's voice sounded more like Siri or Alexa reading text than a real person. I even tried speeding up the voice and that didn't help. The narration completely took away from the story, and I had to stop before the first chapter was over.

I so desperately want a series that I can sink my teeth into. I may have found it with Where Lost Girls Go and will definitely be reading book 2. Detective Casey White is such a likeable character. Here daughter was kidnapped 14 years earlier and she has never given up hope of finding her. When Casey discovers the body of a girl in the forest, she wonders if it may be her daughter Hannah. This begins a search for other local missing girls that people seem to have forgotten over the years. This book had a really good pace and was easy to keep up with. It kept me enthralled throughout and I look forward to reading the next one in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC. 3.5 stars.

I don’t read too many detective novels as o don’t tend to enjoy them as much as other fiction. However I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I liked that there was a vested interest in the case with her looking for her daughter. I was completely hooked and really liked the characters. I hadn’t guessed the ending at all

The book presents an intriguing premise and succeeded in holding my attention, although the pacing felt slow at times. Despite this, I am interested in seeing how the story develops and look forward to reading more installments in the series.

Casey White watched her toddler get abducted from her front yard. She spends over a decade searching for her, now from the eyes of law enforcement. On vacation, she follows up on a lead on the New Jersey coast, but instead of her daughter she finds a young teen beaten, dirty, and bloody asking about her baby.
Short on detectives, Detective White is also roped into helping the outer banks solve some murders on a luxury yacht with the help of a handsome cop who is local to the area and an expert on the ocean. As a Philly native, White needs some context on boats, tides, and currents.
I thought I knew the direction this book was going, but I sure didn’t. There are so many trails going on at once. This story somehow managed to twist into something even darker, and I was really impressed with the plot and the depth of emotions. I was wholeheartedly rooting for Casey to solve these cases and empathetic for a desperate mother looking for her baby, who would now be 16.
I was satisfied with the ending, but I’m definitely left wanting more. I’ll be looking out for when the sequel comes out.
The audiobook I listened to had a talented narrator and I liked their ability to make the different characters sound so distinct.
This audiobook was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for providing this story!

The first in the CaseyWhite series.
This is a little difficult for me to review, I'd give it 3.5 / 5.
The storyline is quite dark, interesting but at times a little disjointed. The other lead character appears to have some sort of superhuman ability. With one arm out of action he manages what most would struggle to do with three.
It is a fairly absorbing mystery thriller but something stopped me enjoying it fully. In fairness to the author I did struggle with the narration, it started off quite hysterical/ excitable and this continued to manifest at times. I understand that narration must be difficult when trying to get across an anxious state but it appeared that the narrator was trying to convey this in the first rather than first person. My ears didn't like it.
I'd reccomend this read, but as a read rather than a listen to make the most of it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC which was very much appreciated.

This book was so good at keeping my attention I love crime thrillers! The storyline was entertaining and I loved the main character trying to find her missing daughter while dealing with the main case. The narration was great too.

Detective Casey White is taking some time off after she makes a mistake that could have been fatal. While on her way to her destination she finds a girl who is in need of help. After speaking with the police it is discovered there is something darker going on in this Outer Banks town than anyone expected. Will this story lead her to finding her daughter who was kidnapped 10 years before?
A good thriller with many twists.

I loved this book and am fully invested in the series now. It has everything - solid police procedural elements, suspense, politics, romance, and a larger mystery that seems like it will span multiple books. The audiobook made it even more immersive, with narration that kept the tension high and made the characters feel real.
The narration is well done, with distinct voices that make it easy to follow along. The pacing is just right fast enough to keep me hooked but not rushed. It’s clear this is the first book in the series, and while Casey White is a strong protagonist, I can tell there’s more depth to explore in future installments. I’m excited to see how she develops over time.

I haven't read a crime novel for a while, and this one had me hooked from the very first page. It doesn't feel right to say I enjoyed reading about such a disturbing crime, but I couldn't stop listening and finished it in 2 days (with narration sped up). The plot is disturbingly plausible and made me feel ill at times knowing that such crimes take place around the world. The main characters are very 'real' and well-developed, and I could see it playing out like a movie in my head. I would have loved more depth for some of the other characters, and I felt the ending was a bit rushed - I wasn't quite ready for the story to end, I had so many questions. I can't wait to read book 2 in this series to see what else is revealed. The narration was enjoyable and gave the characters life.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio and the author for an ARC for review. All opinions are my own and unbiased.

Thanks to NetGalley for this copy of Where do lost girls go by BR Spangler
This was the first in a series featuring Detective Casey White , whose daughter was kidnapped when she was a toddler. She has taken a holiday but when she comes across a badly injured young girl she becomes involved in the police investigation and is seconded into the local police department .
There are several plots involving many twists and turns to keep the reader interested , human trafficking, kidnapped girls and Casey’s continuing search for her daughter.
Although there are maybe a few too many coincidences , the story is interesting and engaging .

3.75/5 stars rounded up.
Detective Casey White has been hoping that one day she will be reunited with her daughter who was taken from her 14 years ago. When she finds a teenage girl in the woods in nothing but a nightgown, she hopes that it’s her daughter, Hannah. Instead, it’s a young girl named Cheryl Parry who was taken 9 years ago with her sister. Cheryl’s sister wasn’t as fortunate and was found dead. The bodies of young girls keep being found in the woods and it becomes clear that there is a serial killer who is very good at what they do. Casey is determined to not only find the killer, but also to find her daughter.
I wouldn’t say that I “enjoyed” reading (listening to) this book as it was pretty dark and depressing, but I appreciated the story. It’s never easy to read stories like this but yet it’s something that can and does happen.
I kept rooting for all of these young girls and Detective Casey. I desperately wanted the killer caught, her daughter found, and these girls safe.
I thought the narrator did a pretty good job reading this story. It was pretty engaging and I thought the pacing was pretty solidly paced up until the ending. The ending of this book almost felt a bit rushed to me and left me feeling slightly underwhelmed. I think the execution could’ve been better and the ending could’ve been stronger for me.
I had trouble visualizing this as the Outer Banks and I kept forgetting that this was where the story took place.. I’ve honestly never been, but based off of everything I’ve seen in photos and movies, it didn’t align to me. A small detail but something that threw me off.

I honestly have no idea how this book is rocking such a high rating! I've read much better mystery/thrillers with much lower avg. rating! At first, the story starts with the narrator (MC) being in a panic state, and tbh the story continues to feel like that. The whole time the MC is on edge. I understand that due to the circumstances, she cannot stay calm and do her work; she is agitated and stressed, and not knowing what's next bothers her all the time. However, as a listener/reader, it starts to feel monotone if the MC is always giving off such a bothered energy, and will diminish the suspense factor. After a while, I lost interest in her mood and panic. Moreover, the revelations of one victim after the other were kind of expected, and the so-called "twists" did not really catch me off guard.
None of the characters stood out in the story. Other than Jericho pulling stunts with one arm! This wasn't believable at all. To me, a good thriller/mystery needs to be 99% believable and give me chills!
I wish I had a better experience with this book, but sadly this wasn't for me.

First book in a new series. It took me a bit to get interested, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. It’s about a mom, who’s a detective. Her daughter gets kidnapped in front of her eyes. Over a decade later, marriage dissolved, she’s still trying to find her.. she ends up coming across drug/trafficking rings and much more than the impact on her family. A lot of triggers. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series when it comes out. Overall pace, double timeline and POVs all made the book captivating.

It took me a few chapters to get into this audio book but I think it was the narration rather than the actual story.
Once I got into it I was hooked. I couldn't stop listening. I eagerly awake the next instalment

This book had so much going on that it kept me enthralled from the first page! The story is so twisty with a touch of darkness and all the right amount of twists and turns. It covers dark subject matter but has just enough light moments in it too! It’s a great start to what I believe will be an excellent series. The main female Casey is a breath of harsh air. She has flaws. She has real reactions to horrific events. She has a perfect amount of realism that connecting with her is easy. She could be your neighbor with how relatable she is. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading more of the series.

Where the Lost Girls Go was a 5⭐️ read.
Casey White is a young mother whose young daughter is kidnapped in front of her eyes. She has spent years following leads and working as a detective. After a situation with her job she has free time to go on a small vacation. She goes to a small beach town that she used to visit. Casey is not there 100% for rest she is following yet another lead in her daughters kidnapping years ago. Once she is there she is pulled into work with the promise of helping for a few day and then she can go. The case becomes bigger than anyone in the town can imagine.
This book has kidnapping, death, friendship, love, and betrayal. It is action packed and page turning.
I highly suggest reading this thriller/mystery book. I don't think you will regret it.

I was captivated by this novel quite simply. Detective Casey White is a bit unhinged, but I liked that her emotions warred with her common sense and her common sense didn't always win. Casey is a mom first, not a detective first and isn't cold about the case of her missing daughter like many books where the protagonist lost a loved one. Jericho was a good counter point to her and I hope to see more of them in this series. HOWEVER- why would you even name a character Ashtole? Particularly someone that you want us to like? It was so very distracting.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author BR Spangler, and Bookoture Audio for my advance copy of this audiobook.
