I love a great psychological thriller and having read The Guests by this author back in December - and loving it! - I knew that I was going to get a great read.

Once again, this front cover drew me in. I hate reading blurbs beforehand as I really don't want to have any spoilers going in - but this cover and tag line looked like this was going to be another twisty and tense one.

This had me hooked from the first few pages and I was totally invested - I couldn't put it down and raced through this in only a couple of sittings.

I loved that this was told over the dual pov chapters which gave us insight into each character's minds and allowed the story to unfold gradually, leaving us on edge and just waiting for the twists.

This was a really relatable story for me as a mum.
I always think back to how I felt when my children were younger a d the idea of getting help sounds idyllic - but I certainly couldn't have trusted anyone else with my kids and definitely not living in the house with us ....
This book has left me knowing I did the right thing!!

I felt the tension early in but the writing style helped to build this up throughout the story right up to the final few twists - which I was still surprised by, even though I was just waiting for them to come!

This was another great read and I'll definitely be looking out for more by this author in the future!

A gripping, twisty psychological thriller that’s the perfect beach read…unless you want to go swimming. Then it’s a problem! You will NOT want to put this one down- it hooks you.

A glamorous mother who seems to have it all, living it up in the lap of luxury. The nanny who seems to be the perfect fit to help lighten some of the child-caring load. This addictive read is told from alternating POVs that’s effortless to follow.

Suspenseful with an enticing plot, solid characterization, realistic dialogue, and bonus: some surprises along the way, I confess I didn’t read this at the beach, but while flying, which is one of my least favorite confinements (i.e., nervous flyer). Don't Trust Her made me completely forget I was trapped on a plane at 21,000 ft for hours.

Well-done and interesting, I sincerely enjoyed this read..

5/5

Don’t Trust Her by Adriane Leigh.
So, after I read the synopsis of this book, I knew I had to read it. Who doesn’t love a good nanny story? This book is told by both points of views, the Mother Genevieve and her nanny Adeline. We meet Genevieve as a frazzled mother of two who is really struggling to get it all done. What she wants most is some help. Her husband is gone too often at work so it’s basically her job to do it all. She really wants help and hires Adeline as her nanny. What a difference Adeline is making in her life until things start going wrong. This is a twisty and fun read that will keep you guessing. Thank you to Netgalley and Joffe Books for the arc.

Don't Trust Her by Adriane Leigh is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The story follows a seemingly perfect mother, who invites a seemingly perfect woman into her home as a nanny—only to realize that the decision may be the biggest mistake of her life.

The narrator, a mother juggling family life while her husband is constantly away, is desperate for help. When she meets a young woman who seems to have everything—experience, good references, and an eagerness to work—she hires her to help with the children. But the new nanny has her own dark intentions, and the situation soon spirals out of control.

Told from both perspectives, the book explores themes of trust, vulnerability, and the consequences of opening up to someone who may not have your best interests at heart. The tension builds as the nanny’s true motives unfold, creating an unsettling atmosphere of suspense and paranoia.

Leigh’s writing is sharp, and she masterfully builds a story filled with twists and revelations. The pacing is fast, and the tension is relentless, keeping you hooked until the final pages. The characters are complex and layered, especially the nanny, whose chilling calmness adds to the intrigue.

Don't Trust Her is a dark, addictive read that will make readers second-guess who they trust in their own lives. A perfect choice for fans of psychological thrillers with a dash of domestic suspense.

Don't trust her by Adriane Leigh.
I loved the cover and blurb of this book. I really enjoyed this book. From page one I was hooked. I couldn't put it down. I listened to it on kindle unlimited. The story is between Genevieve and Adeline. Twisty and gripping. Lots of red flags. I was very surprised with the ending. I did not see that coming. Definitely recommend.

DON’T TRUST HER by Adriane Leigh is a contemporary, adult, psychological thriller focusing on Genevieve Moreau-DuPont, and the au pair Adeline.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Genevieve and Adeline) including present day and memories from the past, DON’T TRUST HER follows Genevieve Moreau-DuPont, wife and exasperated mother of two, as she struggles in her daily life to care for her children, and look after the house. Married to a prominent architect who is rarely home, Genevieve is desperate for help, and hires Adeline, who quickly becomes a source of contention for Genevieve and her husband Alexandre but as the story begins to unfold, not everything is as it appears to be. Genevieve begins to suspect her husband is unfaithful, and the au pair is adding fuel to the already simmering fires.

The world building focuses on the early life of one young woman as she struggles in the wake of debilitating dysfunctional family dynamics. As Genevieve battles to maintain her day to day tasks, her life begins to spiral out of control, while Adeline becomes disheartened as she finds herself taking on more responsibilities for a family that is not her own.

DON’T TRUST HER is a story of secrets and lies, mental and emotional illness. The premise is dark, dramatic and intriguing but several issues are never addressed, or lost in the melee that is a decent into madness; the characters are embattled and determined, broken and lost.

Don't Trust Her is the second I've read from Leigh and it's definitely my favourite to date!

Where do I even start?

I love a good cat and mouse chase, I mean who doesn't? But this was something else! I was obsessed!

The pace was perfect, a little slower than expected at times, but for me this just added to the nail biting tension as I prepared to expect the unexpected...OMG, I didn't see that one coming, not even an inkling...Wow! Excuse me why I scrape my jaw off the floor!

What a plot! Brilliantly twisty, told from dual POV with a great cast of imperfectly perfect characters.

The characters were so well-developed and the plot twists?  I did not see them coming! The way the story unfolded had me hooked from beginning to end. Plus, the writing style was easy to follow and really drew me in. I couldn't put this book down! Overall, "Don't Trust Her" is a captivating thriller that will keep you guessing until the very last page. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with this one.

This was such a great and twisty psychological thriller and I have to say I didn’t guess the twist coming at all! The writing is pacy and I loved the dual narratives/points of view. I did finish this in two sittings because I could hardly put it down. Tightly woven, Leigh keeps her cards close to her chest as she weaves the narrative. I was totally invested and needed to know what was going to happen next.
If you love pacy psychological thrillers this one is definitely one to consider.

When Genevieve first meets Adeline, she thinks all her problems are solved. Adeline will be her au pair, her driver, her chef and her best friend. Adeline has other ideas.

Don’t Trust Her, told in the alternating voices of the two women, is impossible to put down. Genevieve, a totally unsympathetic character with a usually absent husband and two unmanageable children, is at first stronger. Then Adeline’s machinations begin to cause cracks in Gen’s carefully constructed façade. No spoilers here. This psychological thriller builds to a conclusion that will be a complete surprise. Put this on the top of your TBR list! 5 stars.

Don't Trust Her by Adriane Leigh was a gripping read that held my attention throughout.

The story's alternating POV structure worked brilliantly, giving me insight into both perspectives. This back-and-forth storytelling style kept the tension high and allowed the characters to develop in interesting ways. Each chapter added new layers, making me question who to believe and what was really happening.

The characters were well-established, and I felt their emotions and motivations were clearly defined. The mother’s struggles, her vulnerability, and her desperate attempt to manage her family life felt realistic, while the nanny's calculating and sinister presence added an unsettling edge.

I must admit that some parts of the plot initially felt stretched beyond belief. Certain details and situations had me questioning their plausibility. At first, I attributed this to cultural differences between UK and USA lifestyles, but once the plot twist was revealed, it all suddenly made much more sense. The twist was cleverly executed, tying together those seemingly exaggerated moments in a way that felt satisfying.

The finale was particularly intriguing, with a conclusion that almost had me flipping back through the pages to spot the clues I had missed. The story’s pacing and structure kept me engaged, and while some plot points pushed the limits of believability, the clever resolution made it worthwhile.

Overall, Don't Trust Her is a well-written, suspenseful read with strong character development and a cleverly woven plot. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with alternating perspectives and twists that make you question everything, this is one to add to your list!

Don’t Trust Her is a suspenseful psychological thriller that keeps readers hooked with its dark twists and chilling sense of unease. The story revolves around a seemingly perfect woman who opens her home to a new caregiver, only to realize too late that her helper has darker motives. The pacing is steady, and the tension gradually builds, creating a sense of dread as the plot unfolds. While the premise is intriguing and the character dynamics compelling, there are moments where the story feels a bit predictable, and some developments could have been explored further. Nonetheless, the suspense is maintained throughout, and the book offers an engaging, albeit sometimes unsettling, read. Perfect for fans of slow-burn thrillers with a twist.

I want to start by expressing my gratitude to @netgalley and @joffebooks for the opportunity to read “𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘏𝘦𝘳” by Adriane Leigh ahead of its publication on March 13th.

This is my first novel by Ms. Leigh and, truthfully, I selected it on a whim as it was marketed as a “gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller” on Goodreads - it’s literally in the book’s title on the platform. Unfortunately, for me, I found myself putting this one down 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭 and not wanting to pick it back up again, viewing the task as somewhat of a chore at times.

This was due, in part, to the characters, all of whom I found very unlikable - with the exception of baby Laurent. While this may have been the point, and though I realized at the end that my view of Alexandre was warped by the main character’s view of him, it made it difficult for me to fully immerse myself in the story and enjoy it.

While figuring out the big plot twist ahead of its unveiling doesn’t always impact my enjoyment of a book, in this case it did as I found myself disappointed. I guess I was waiting to be proven wrong and when that didn’t happen, I couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.

Overall, this one just didn’t work for me. If I had felt more connected to even one of the characters, maybe it would have been different.

I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. It was just 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺.

Well I was not expecting that, it left me totally flabbergasted! Her husband is forever working so she hires a nanny to help but is she really there to help or hinder? A brilliant plotted and drawn drama that had me eagerly absorbing every word. I felt so much built up suspense building and it made me feel excited. The characters are well crafted and play their part well. The suprise twist at the end hit me hard and my jaw hit the ground!

When you are a mother with two young children and a husband working away the whole week, it can be very challenging. And then suddenly, out of the blue, the universe sends someone to help you out. Finally you will have some time for yourself whilst the au pair takes care of your little ones.

You have to be careful who you let into your home though. Before you know it, your world is turned upside down.

This book gave me  sense of dread from the beginning. How is it possible you can almost conjure the right person at the right time. Smells fishy in my opinion.  Although this person seems perfect on the outside, they really have their own dark agenda.

The dual perspective gives a voice to both mother and au pair, the first one growing more desperate and the second one more determined.

The intriguing story keeps you turning pages. Be ware, when you think you have seen the light, you haven't at all. The twist that is incorporated makes your head spin.

A gripping book that left me flabbergasted. 5 stars

Thank you

I usually love this author for the reason that the story is wild and crazy and the right side of too much. However, this one didn’t completely hit the mark for me. I really liked the idea of the plot, a split personality always hits. Maybe this is just because I am a mom but this was 80% someone saying they hate being a mom and all the horrible things that come with it and that was a little much. Indifferent about your kids while spilt into two different people, sure. Hating them the whole book then “realizing” you love them was not it. Anyways, still would read another by this author!

Thank you netgalley for the arc!

Well, I did NOT see that coming... Unpredictable is putting it mildly.

Genevieve is living a dream, so it seems. She meets Adeline at the school drop off, and impulsively invites her to become her au pair, as she's overwhelmed and needs help - lots of it! She's in a super wealthy gated community in Palm Beach, living in a mansion with everything she could possibly desire including a handsome architect husband. Except her husband commutes to Miami for work, staying there during the week, and only home on the weekends. What Gen doesn't know is that Adeline and her husband, Alexandre, have a past.

Adeline observes such an odd dynamic immediately. And this develops into so much more than the same old storyline of the husband and au pair. While it did start slowly, stay with it. It's hard to say more without spoiling things!
