I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved how supportive Imani's family was and how her heritage influenced her designs. The plot itself was a little unrealistic, though. It really seemed strange that her classmates never even considered that Imani was behind the Estelle account.

Imani and her family move to Brooklyn. Her dad owns a food truck and they help out on the weekends. Imani is worried about starting at a new school. Luckily Harlee befriends Imani. Both are wild about fashion and designing clothes. Harlee’s family works in the fashion industry. Imani finds out about the fashion competition with a prize of a full scholarship to the Art and Design High School. Harlee invites Imani over to talk designs for the competition. Later, Imani can’t find her sketch pad. To make matters worse, when she submits a design for the contest, Imani is accused of stealing the design from Harlee. Surprise, Imani is sure Harlee stole her sketch pad and designs. Imani is determined to prove she innocent and win the contest.
I liked this book and was eager to find out what was going to happen in the end. I did guess about Harlee true nature and immediately knew where the sketch book had gone. I could see a lot of it happening in real life too.
