I am so disappointed 😞 I downloaded this when I first got approved but it was just before I went overseas so didn't have time to listen to it until now. And I found that my download was gone 😢
I tried to buy the audiobook to listen to it but it is not available in Australia. I was so excited to listen to this.. I hope it comes out here soon and I am so sorry I didn't get the chance to review it properly

I’m in love with this unique thriller that kept me turning the pages. The historic aspects really enhance the mystery and was a thrilling ride.
You won’t want to miss this thriller that has a historical twist!
****Many thanks to Jenn Bregman for my gifted copy in turn for an honest review.

The Last Hamilton by Jen Bregman and narrated by Leanne Woodward. The book is about the mystery of Elizabeth Hamilton Walker, who sends her best friend Sarah a message saying call Ralph he knows and then jumps in front of a train or did she? The mystery starts off with a bang but sadly when it gets into the stuff about the bank towards the end of the book my eyes were really glazing over and although I thought it was a good mystery very deathly plotted I just think the ending was quite abrupt and after that great beginning felt like a letdown. leanne Woodward has narrated some of my favorite books and I love her soft melodic tone and have always enjoyed her performance in my writing really has nothing to do with her I think this is a mystery for the thinking reader and or those who can use both sides of their brains at the same time. i’m not going to say I didn’t like it because I am a big fan of our founding father and found all the history of him his cello and the other members of the Hamilton family very interesting but when I got to the secret society in the financial happenings many times I got lost and didn’t know what they were talking about. having said that it would always come back to something that got me back into the story, I just don’t think this is a mystery for those who are fans of cozy mysteries I just really hate to say anything bad about a book but sadly I wasn’t the biggest fan of this one.#NetGalley,#DreamscapeMedia, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #JenBregman, #TheLastHamilton, #LorraineWoodward,

I really struggled through this book. The beginning was so intriguing. Who is Elizabeth really? What were her motivations for jumping in front of a train? What secrets were worth her life?
I liked Sarah and Ralph. I thought their characters made sense to be in the positions they were in. Elizabeth trusted them with the potential future of America.
Once it got into Pierce and Timothy’s parts, things went off the tracks for me. I was disturbed by the casual self harm and found the explanation of Pierce’s anxiety to be lacking.
60% of the way through the audiobook, I asked myself “do I even care what happens in the end?”
Unfortunately, I think this story is hindered by the narrator of the audiobook. Her tone strikes me as AI generated and lacks the appropriate emotional depth for the tragedy of Elizabeth’s death. I think alternating male/female narrators might’ve given characters like Pierce and Ralph more believable performances.

A Gripping, Fast-Paced Historical Thriller with a Modern Twist
Jenn Bregman’s The Last Hamilton is an electrifying blend of history, mystery, and suspense that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. With a compelling premise rooted in the legacy of Alexander Hamilton, the novel masterfully intertwines past and present as Sarah and Ralph race to uncover the truth behind a secret society and a shocking murder. Packed with intrigue, historical depth, and unexpected twists, this book is smart, thrilling, and utterly unputdownable!

A fun, fast-paced contemporary thriller with a believable premise and likeable main characters. While the dramatis personae were rather simplistically divided into the Good Guys and the Black Hats, I did appreciate the fact that the ‘Good Guys’ were, or at least tried their best to be, genuinely committed to doing good in the world. Unfortunately, this was counterbalanced by a set of almost Cartoony ‘bad guys’ with the Big Bad having an unfortunate propensity to monologue at the slightest opportunity. Despite this weakness, the book kept my interest till the last and left me satisfied despite the odd loose end.

I generally love all things Hamilton, and was ALL IN for this historical fiction. Unfortunately the lackluster dialogue heavy writing could not hold my attention. I was simultaneously annoyed by the characters and annoyed that I felt like I had the mystery figured out halfway.

I received this to review as a audiobook from NetGalley. This book grabbed my interest from the beginning. It is paced well. I hope to finish it in print one day, but the audio version is unbearable and I had to stop by Chapter 7. The narrator enunciates clearly. That’s the positive. Imagine Siri reading a book. The dictation is almost robotic and lacks engagement. The additional attempt at a male character voice shift is dreadful. If this book had a different reader, I’m sure I would’ve been enthralled.

Such a fun and quick thriller, a must for Hamilton fans! Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an audio copy of this book!

What a fun book! A twisty ride, perfect for finance and/or history wonks. The pace was relentless, from the shocking beginning, all the way to the final surprise—I devoured it in one day. Hats off to the narrator for delivering the urgency of the story while balancing an impressive cast of characters.

The last Hamilton has died. Yes, that Hamilton. But she's left some clues for her husband and best friend, leading not only to ancient secret society, but also the treasure it holds.
It's an enjoyable mystery, giving the DaVinci Code Vibes - quite good.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the digital copy of this audiobook; I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you like Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and the National Treasure movies, then The Last Hamilton is a book you’ll be sure to want to pick up. I highly recommend the audio version narrated by Leanne Woodward, who does an excellent job with this fast-paced, clue ridden novel.
There are no extraneous characters in this book–everyone introduced serves a purpose. There’s the best friend, Sarah, and grieving husband, Ralph, the detective, the neighbor, the killer, and more! They all added to the story which added to the overall pacing and movement of the story. Because there were so many characters, and each one was important for some reason, the reader/listener is really kept on their toes!
One of the reasons I loved this story so much is the tie-in with actual historical events, blended with the fictional story. It gives me Noah Wyle’s The Librarian movies vibes. Is the book perfect? No. But it was engaging enough, and this American history buff appreciated the effort put forth. This would be a great beach read or something you could knock out in a day. Oh, and you’ll love the twist at the end!

Thanks to Dreamscape Media for the ARC!
The Last Hamilton is a fast-paced, history-infused thriller that delivers intrigue, mystery, and adventure. While I don’t usually read historical fiction, I found myself completely drawn into this story of secret societies, hidden treasures, and a modern-day race to uncover the truth behind Alexander Hamilton’s legacy.
The novel follows Sarah and Ralph as they unravel a conspiracy linked to Hamilton himself, diving deep into a world of cryptic messages, ancient documents, and a dangerous pursuit through New York. The blend of historical details and suspense kept me engaged, and as someone who has the Hamilton Broadway soundtrack memorized, I appreciated the nods to his legacy.
Bregman’s writing makes the history feel alive without overwhelming the reader, and the twists kept me hooked. This book made me want to visit New Jersey for something other than Wildwood! If you’re ready to RISE UP, you should give this a read!

This was just ok for me. I felt like the need for suspension of disbelief was a little above my comfortable threshold. The story was interesting, but for a book with such a high octane pitch, it took quite a while to get going.

I went into this hoping for something as compulsive as National Treasure, and I blame my own silly expectations for letting me down. While it started with a compelling first chapter there was just not the kind of energy I was hoping for and characters that didn’t feel fully developed to allow the connections needed for a story like this.
It seemed well researched and I appreciate all the author put into it but it wasn’t a good fit for my particular reading style.
Thanks to the publisher for the alc via Netgalley.

I loved everything about The Last Hamilton. It was an Alexander Hamilton version of National Treasure. I couldn’t it down and didn’t want it to end. I’m tempted to start it all over again. Highly recommend.
What a fantastic book by Jenn Bregman. Leanne Woodward excellent job with the narration.
Thank you to NetGalley & Dreamscape MediaHarlequin Audio for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was instantly captivated by the premise of this book; Elizabeth Hamilton-Walker, the last living descendant of Alexander Hamilton, jumps in front of a train, to her death. Her best friend, Sarah, is certain that foul play is involved and vows to find out who would have wanted Elizabeth dead and what they planned to gain.
A fast paced and twisty ride that leads us across NYC, as Sarah peels back the layers of the secrets Elizabeth was holding, with some fascinating historical information and a brilliant ending!
Leanne Woodward did a fabulous job with the narration, skilfully portraying the tension, grief and the humorous bits.
4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Jenn Bregman and Dreamscape for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I’d give this 2.5 stars. It had so much potential with a National Treasure type plot but it never really got off the ground. I was hoping for more of a treasure hunt and less of the confusing gold market scenario I never really understood.

Alexander Hamilton, was the first US Treasury Secretary, he created the institution that manages the money supply for the United States. He was smart and knew steps had to be taken to protect now as well as into the future.
Elizabeth Walker is he last heir of the Alexander Hamilton line. She was killed by a subway train in New York and foul play was suspected.
Strange things had been happening to Elizabeth during her last days- she went going on mysterious errands searching for an antique key.
After her death, her best friend, Sarah Brockman gets a box of old documents
Sarah and Elizabeth’s husband Ralph discover Elizabeth had been a member of a secret society established by her uncle Hamilton to keep the US the land of the free.
Needless to say I was drawn to this as Hamilton was a very interesting person and this story had the makings of the mystery and intrigue of “The Da Vinci Code”.

First of all I really enjoyed the national Treasure vibe it’s really fun .
I love a good mystery and treasure hunt.
Unfortunately I didn’t like the narrator they didn’t pronounce words correctly and sounded robotic.
I honestly had to check to see if they were AI at first .
I wouldn’t listen to anything this narrator narrates.
The only criticism for the actual book is it seems to repetitive and can sound slightly sloppy.
But I’d give it a chance if I had the written version.
