I have mixed feelings about this book.
First of all, the cover is gorgeous. It would look great on a bookshelf.
Coming to the actual story, I really like the premise of the book. The concept is something I haven't read before. Lynn waking up in a random girls body and piecing together the mystery of why this happened to her was an interesting read. I liked how she adapted to the situation and kept moving. I also like Lynn's fuck it personality that only comes with age and experience and of course being a slumlord. I like how she changed as a character and became more softer and empathetic while still keeping her fierceness.
What I found difficult to read and what made me almost DNF the book was the writing. It felt very wooden and the characters aren't fleshed out well. They're just..there you know? And there's a lot of telling not showing. It made it hard to sympathize with the characters. The two dimensional writing had me putting the book down a lot. I had to push myself to finish it. Only the plot and the mystery kept me going.
I think the book has a lot of potential. It has all the ingredients of a great novel, but it just needs some proper mixing to make it truly amazing.
Thankyou to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Broken Heart is Dead is an eerie, fascinating ride through second chances, identity, and the thin veil between the living and the dead. Lynn Moore, a ruthless slumlord, should have died, but instead, she wakes up in the body of a struggling witch whose life she once made miserable. Watching Lynn lose everything and slowly unravel the strange mysteries of Kinderhook kept me hooked from start to finish. The mix of supernatural intrigue, social commentary, and self-discovery made this a deeply satisfying read.

Ohhh boy, karma really came for Lynn Moore, and I was living for it! 💀🔥 One minute, she’s a filthy rich slumlord, the next—BAM!—she’s stuck in the broke, evicted body of a witch. Talk about a downgrade! My Broken Heart is Dead is like if The Devil Wears Prada got hit with a paranormal hex and thrown into a ghost-infested mystery. It’s eerie, chaotic, and downright delicious watching Lynn scramble to figure out who’s alive, who’s dead, and how not to get totally obliterated in the process. If you love your books with sharp wit, spooky vibes, and a heaping dose of "Well, THAT backfired," grab this one ASAP! 🧙♀️👀💰➡️💸➡️😱📖
