This was such a interesting dystopian romance that really made think about how I would handle the challenges Tuck and Emily encountered as they fought to survive their unique circumstances. I enjoyed Tuck's ability to adapt and thrive, and Emily's growth as she learned from Tuck's example. It's horrifying to realize that something like this could actually happen and that adds another layer to the drama. The audiobook was a great way to consume this novel and the narration very well done.

This book didn't feel like a romance, it felt more like a dystopia with a side plot of romance. It was more about self discovery and survival. With that being said I did like the chemistry between Tuck and Emily.
Both characters have huge development throughout the book. Even though it was a good read, I find myself not wanting to pick it up. It didn't hook me but I did want to know how it ended, so I powered through.
Thank you to Net Gallery for sharing this ALC in return for my honest review.

Please, this was soooo good!! I went in blind, honestly - and I do not regret that! It was so unlike anything I’ve ever read, and I was obsessed the whole time. The audio, the narrators, everything was so good!

I didnt really know what to expect for this one. I was thinking this was a romance/suspense/dystopia type but I am still unsure. It was still a good story and kept me hooked, but I feel a little let down? This was a first for me with Annalee Scott and Andre Santana as the narrators. They did a good job keeping me in the story. Thank you Harlequin and netgalley for the ALC.

This was my first Mia book, and I admit I may have had some hugh expectations after all the rave reviews on her other books!
"Heart of the Sun" isn't a book I would typically read, but I was excited to give it a shot!
It presents an end-of-the-world scenario intertwined with a second-chance, childhood best friends romance. While not entirely unenjoyable, the romance felt underdeveloped; the foundation was strong, but the romantic storyline could have been explored much further. The whole solar flares and total power outages were unsettling, tapping into a fear of events that feel eerily plausible in our current world - however, I also found that aspect of the book lacking as well. I think it would have been much more enjoyable had it stuck to either the romancantic storyline or life in a world of darkness.
I found the audio characters very hard to connect with as well.

3/5 stars
This is a beautiful cover and despite it stating "A Love Story" right on the front cover this book is so much more. This was defintely not what I was expecting from Mia Sheridan. When I first started this book I was blown away by the dystopian type world. This beautiful story is about childhood friends, Tuck and Emily, who are separated by life happenings. Thirteen years they are reunited and they quickly realize that they both had led completely opposite lifestyles. Emily is an up and coming pop music superstar and well Tuck is an ex-con who recently got released back into society. Tuck is serving as Emily's bodyguard when a dystopian/post apocolyptic event happens. They along with Emily's boyfriend are on a plane when the plane goes down. They surrive the crash but together they have to learn and work together to navigate this is unknown yet new way of life.
I really enjoyed the audiobook narrators, they did great putting a voice to these characters. Mia Sheridan, is known for her heartwarming books and this one is no different. There were in moments in this book that I wanted to holler at these characters, others where it had me laughing, and others that had me swooning.
A special Thank you to Harlequin Audio and Netgalley for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This review is in my words and are those of of mine and mine alone.

☀️ Heart of the Sun by Mia Sheridan
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Childhood friends. Second chance romance. A solar flare that knocks out the entire power grid. This book had me hooked.
Emily and Tuck are forced together when the world goes dark, and what unfolds is a tender, emotional journey of survival and reconnection. The chemistry is real, the stakes feel high, and the quiet moments between them hit just as hard as the tension outside.
Mia Sheridan balances romance with just the right amount of apocalyptic chaos. Tuck is everything you want in a second-chance hero, and Emily’s strength makes her easy to root for.
If you love emotional depth, forced proximity, and romance set against a crumbling world, don’t miss this one

I really enjoyed how unique this story was!! This was my first read that contained a nationwide blackout/emergency- and I thought that it was very well done!! This was one of those stories where there is so much plot! I did not think that it would end the way that it did- but I loved the romance and the complex characters!! This was a change in pace to a normal second chance/body guard romance- but I adored Emily and Tuck!!

The audio book was perfectly paced and the did a great job of bringing the story to life.

I loved the narrators of this book! The premise of the book is pretty promising and sounded very interesting. However, I felt like it's too much of a slowburn for me. This was my first book by Mia Sheridan (haven't read Archer's Voice) and I personally feel like maybe I'd enjoy it more if I read it instead of listening to it. The emotions would've hit harder imo.

This was insane. Not at all what I expected. I would’ve liked a little more romance. I wasn’t expecting it to be so apocalyptic. The audio was really great. Would recommend it to someone who’s looking for a suspenseful romance & story.
I did enjoy Mia’s writing in this one.
Thank you for the arc & audio!

firstly, thank you to the publisher for an alc!
sadly dnf @ 20% and i’m sad because this is my first book by mia sheridan, and i was excited to dive into her work after hearing all the love for archer’s voice.
unfortunately, i just didn’t care for the plot or the characters.
as for the audio, the narrator was ok!

In Mia Sheridan's new novel, she ventures into dystopian fiction, which appears to be different from her previous books. A love story that unfolds by a strong connection and undeniable chemistry between the two main characters. I was engaged from the first page. She explores themes of appreciation and gratitude, leading us to reflect on the simple things in life that often take for granted. With a narrative that makes it hard to put down, this book is a must-read. Overall, it stands out as a thought-provoking book with adventures and survival.

This book just wasn't for me. I haven't read anything else by this author so I don't know if the author isn't for me or if just this book isn't for me. Honestly I really didn't like the FMC. She felt very immature and they way she was judging the mmc very harshly for being a felon felt kinda icky for me personally. It felt like assumptions about him rather than actually knowing him and I didn't like that.
I am open to trying other books by this author in the future

Welp. I spent 70% of the book wondering wtf I signed up for and then the last 10% wondering how the heck Mia Sheridan was going to tie it all together… well written, sure. Relatable characters with depth? Not so much. Smut? For about 6%. Just a weird read overall.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for allowing me access to this book early in exchange for an honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sheridan strikes again with her gut-wrenching love story full of plot development, twists and turns, enemies to lovers, the whole nine. I felt such a wide array of emotion while listening to this book. Grief, anger, happiness... The reality of this story and how easily this could be a scenario to unravel in society is terrifying.
My one and only complaint is that I feel the ending was rushed a bit. I felt like the story was long and full of adventure, twists and turns, and then BAM, it's over, just like that?
Meh, it's still a 4.5 star for me. Overall, this was a great read! Highly recommend!!!

Thank you, Herlequin Audio and Netgalley, for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I love Mia Sheridan, but what the heck was this? Was it a romance, dystopia, who knows? I feel like the survival part was unique and cool; however, it took away from the romance aspect. I also found the characters hard to like. They had no chemistry and were annoying. I think this book was way too long at over 400 pages. I listened to the book and still found it too long. Overall, Mia Sheridan has many better books out there, and I would not recommend this one.

This book started off fantastic. I was hooked...until the crash... From that point on, the storyline was too farfetched for me. I became uninterested. I love this author and will try another one, This book just wasn't for me.

Heart of the Sun by Mia Sheridan (book cover is in the image) tells the story of how Tuck Mattice and Emily Swanson, childhood friends reunite later in life, and after a solar flare places the world in darkness, must find a way to come to terms with their past and future together.
The by André Santana and Annalee Scott are well done providing unique voices to each of the characters. They made the story engaging and easy to follow. And while I am not a fan of romance in my novels, here it is very well done and shares the stage with the impacts of this cataclysmic event and how it impacts the world. I recommend this book for those who like to mix their dystopian fiction with romance.

Heart of the Sun was a unique dystopian/post-apocalyptic story with an underlying love story between childhood friends.
This was my second Mia Sheridan book and after reading Archer's Voice I came in with extremely high hopes. In addition, I do enjoy dystopian books so I thought it would be the perfect blend.
Unfortunately this book and my expectations were not aligned. A majority of the story focused on the post-apocalyptic turmoil facing the country including violence and aggression breaking out everywhere. Our FMC and her current boyfriend as well as our MMC had to navigate this new world and the awkward dynamics between the three of them.
Personally, I struggled to enjoy the goriness that was outlined in this story especially with such a minimal focus on the love story. It truly felt like the love story was an after thought.
I think readers who enjoy post-apocalyptic books as a main genre would highly enjoy this book. I did consume part of the book on audio and the dual narration was done exceptionally well!
Thank you to the publisher for both the ARC and ALC of this book!

An unlikely story that is compelling and heart warming. Would you survive the end of the world? A second chance romance that has you exploring this question for yourself.
When Emily and Tuck are reunited in an unexpected way, they never could have guessed that the awkward reunion would be the least of their worries. Go on a transformative journey of reconnection that takes them across the country.
Thank you Netgalley and Canary Street Press for the opportunity to read an early copy of Heart of the Sun for an honest review.
