It has been so long since I've picked up a Mia Sheridan book and while it didn't learn more towards the romance, it was still an enjoyable read. I was really glad I was able to get the audio, it definitely helped with reading this one since it has been tough to read with my eyes.
I usually don't gravitate towards post-apocalyptic books because they terrify me. But this one definitely made it firm that I would not survive at all. Just take me, I don't even want to try!
The first quarter was a bit of a struggle because I just wasn't a fan of the FMC, Nova/Emily. And while I understand her reasonings for being untrustful with Tuck. With his introduction and everything, he just wasn't reading the way she imagined him to be after all that time. There's a certain scene that really set me off from liking her, but she came back enough by the end in my good graces.
Tuck was definitely a fave and just with everything he's been through, he really paved his way in this one. And I just loved seeing his character evolve from beginning to end.
I definitely missed more of the romance, but I think many might enjoy this one.
Narration was pretty solid, while I did enjoy André Santana, he's not who I imagined for Tuck since he was described as tough and broody. Annalee Scott did great as well with bringing Nova to life.
Thank you to the publisher and HTP_Hive for the ALC!

When I think of Mia Sheridan, I think of wholesome, love stories that pull your heart in 30 different directions. While Heart of the Sun did not stray from typical romance storyline, it did throw me a curveball when it came to the setting and events. I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did as it is not my first choice. However, this book sucked me in and spit me out. I couldn’t put it down. Another mia Sheridan win!!

Ok guys, I love everything Ive read by Mia, and this book is no exception. This book follows our main characters, Emily and Tuck. Two childhood friends who's lived ended up going in very different directions. Emily is an on the rise pop star living the high life, and Tuck is recently released from prison and just trying to figure out how to live again. When Emily's mom convinces her to hire Tuck as her personal body guard, old emotions come back to the surface, and neither of them are ready to acknowledge. Then, out of nowhere on a flight to New York, catastrophe strikes and their plane crashes! Emily and Tuck (oh and Emily's boyfriend) find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere in a world suddenly left with no electricity. Now, depending on each other for survival, they must navigate this new world (and all the bubbling up emotions) to try and get back home.
This book was beautifully written and had me immediately attached to the main characters. The transition from a modern world falling into a dystopian existence really made me personally reflect where we are as a society. I will recommend this book to anyone who will listen!
Thank you to Netgalley for this audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mia Sheridan delivered a stunning dystopian romance in the Heart of the Sun. The audiobook’s narration enhances the story’s intensity, the tension, the romance, and the mystery bringing the characters to life. The audio production is crisp and immersive, for an engaging listening experience. Loved it in audio!
Thank you for providing me with the audiobook!

The narrators did a great job keeping me engaged and interested. Overall, this book just wasn't what I was expecting and my expectations caused me to be let down. I saw Mia Sheridan and immediately thought 'I've loved her other books, I will definitely love this', what I didn't realize was this was dystopian book that focused almost entirely on the world falling apart then it did on the romance. It is a slow slow burn, not even a kiss until 70% in. I did like the characters and I was rooting for them, I just think the book had too much filler for me. I think if you want a modern day, the world is ending dystopian book with a sprinkle of romance at the end, you'll enjoy this. I wanted a normal Mia Sheridan book, so I think I just wasn't prepared for what I was getting into.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a bit of a let-down. I am a dystopian lover and also adore a good romance novel, so I was stoked to see that Sheridan (the author of Archer's Voice) wrapped both into one book! However, the execution...not so great. There were so many opportunities to increase the stakes and make the setting feel dystopian-esque, but it missed the mark for me. I also felt like the sexual tension felt out of place in what was supposed to be a very dire situation, and that made me roll my eyes way too frequently. I loved the MC backstories and connecting small moments along the way, but it was not enough to keep me engaged. I attempted both reading and listening to the audiobook of this title, and still struggled to finish it.
Thank you to the publisher for a complimentary review copy of this title.

Heart If The Sun by Mia Sheridan
A very BIG thank you to #NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for sending me this ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.
About the book: The story starts off introducing you to two teens, Tucker Mattice and Emily Swan. Their families are best of friends and they’ve always grown up together. Tucker and Emily share an incredible bond.
But after tragedy strikes, Tucker’s life is turned upside down. His personality changes and he pushes those away that love him most.
The story skips ahead to 13 years later, and Tucker is being released from prison and is looking for a fresh start. He needs a job, but no one wants to hire an ex-con.
Emily is a rising pop star in need of a new bodyguard. After some convincing from her mom, she reluctantly agrees to hire Tucker. Of course they bicker and argue just like old times.
One day while traveling on a private plane, the plane loses control. The pilot manages to somehow safely crash the planes, and Tucker, Emily, and her boyfriend survive.
They soon release that the cause of the crash happened when a cataclysmic solar flare disrupted the entire electrical grid. The country in now entirely plunged into darkness and complete chaos.
Together they embark on a journey to get home. But the world is different now and everyone else is also just trying to survive. Will Tucker and Emily survive, and also be able to rekindle their relationship and feeling for one another?
What I thought: oh my god! Where do I start? This book…wow! I absolutely loved it! This is the absolute BEST book if read so far this year! This book seriously has it all!

Then this book is for you! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This isn’t just your typical romance. This is also a story of survival, which makes it super suspenseful along the way. I very highly recommend this book to everyone! Pre order it now! I already have!
André Santana and Annalee Scott both did an amazing job narrating this book!
I’m rating this book 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book releases May 19, 2025

I can’t believe I got this early! I started it ASAP. And Im just in shock finishing it. It is a little different than Mia’s other books but I loved it just as much!

I have read Mia a few times and listened as well. This story fell short for me. Typically I enjoy her stuff but this one didn't hit like all her others do. I did enjoy the narrators of this story and this kept me listening. Thank you for the opportunity to listen!

They grew up together, nearly fell in love until life pulled them in different directions. Thirteen years later Emily, now a famous pop star hires Tuck as her bodyguard. The two butt heads but a massive solar flare changes life as they knew it in an instant. Working together to survive in this post apocalyptic world changes one’s perspective.
I did not expect this from Mia Sheridan but I’m here for it. The solar flare changes the trajectory of the story and makes this book a page turner. You never know what they will encounter around the corner. Its impossible to predict how it’ll end.
Even though Emily and Tuck grew up together their lives are vastly different. The apocalypse teaches them a lot of valuable lessons about life and what’s truly important. Character growth and the power of kindness shown in this book is wonderful. The romance takes a backseat which I didn’t mind one bit.
I hope this will end up becoming either a duology or series because I have questions. What happened to the people they encountered on their journey, how Tucker and Emily’s lives look in future and we need too hear about Charlie’s inevitable demise. Please and thank you.
If you’re looking for a run of the mill romance novel this one isn’t for you. However if you want to try something different I highly recommend checking it out.

Did I remember what this was about when I started it? Nope. Was I immediately hooked? Yup. Obsessed with Tuck and Emily and the way he stayed true to who he was throughout the whole book. Usually going to prison changes people but for the reason he went was pure Tuck. How protective he was over her no matter how mad he was at her? Dead

I appreciated the dual POV, and the narrators did a fantastic job with the flow of the audiobook. However, this book was very majorly advertised as romance, and I felt like it fell flat on that aspect for me. This dystopian side of the plot was well done, and I enjoyed following Tuck and Emilie on their journey around the US. I also enjoyed all the twists and turns that came from every chapter. These characters couldn’t catch a break!

I am a big Mia Sheridan fan and will read anything she publishes. Heart of the Sun is not your typical Mia Sheridan novel. This is a childhood best friends, second chance romance in the setting of a cataclysmic solar flare that takes out the electrical grid and causes mass chaos. Although I enjoyed the main male character (Tuck), I can’t say the same for the main female character (Emily). She was a bratty kid who didn’t do a whole lot of growing up. It was hard to root for such an insufferable adult. Unfortunately, this dystopian fiction novel fell a bit short for me.

Not my first Mia Sheridan book but definitely my favorite so far!! I’ve always been a sucker for a story with a dystopian future, with or without zombies, so when I read the synopsis I couldn’t hide my excitement!! I pushed it up to the top of my TBR list and settled down for a listen.
I was given the audiobook version of Heart of the Sun by NetGalley to review. Not often but sometimes I’ll find a narrator I don’t care for, but this wasn’t the case. Both narrators were excellent with their delivery and inflections.
I was almost effortlessly pulled into the storyline and its pacing held my attention throughout, I didn’t want to put it down. The character development and world building, though similar to other stories of the same nature, there were sub plot lines not commonly used which help separate from the rest.
The building romance and both main characters dealing with their unresolved past while their world falls apart, was a slow burn but I like a good slow burn second chance trope. Throw in the end of modern society and I’m your girl!
Sheridan did a good job at showing that at the end of modern society good people can do bad things to survive and bad people become every worse. There was some intense moments that lent to a good underlying suspense.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ARC of "Heart of the Sun". This book was very enjoyable. The characters suffer and experience so much growth in this love story. Your heart really feels for everything Tuck has been through and what a wonderful heart he has underneath all of his trauma. I didn't love how the FMC treated him as her body guard and on the plane, but that quickly changed when she needed him to survive. I wish she would have trusted him from the get go about the drugs, for me, that would have been hard to just forgive and move on but Tuck is a beter person than I. This was more than just a romance!

Mia Sheridan is a favorite author of mine. I just finished listening to Heart of Sun and as all of her books were, it was great!

I initially read this book, and then I listened to the audiobook so I could compare the two. I think both were equally amazing and truly tugged at my heart. Tuck had so many layers and depths to his character, I loved him. It was intriguing to see about Emily/Nova. Seeing her true self and the difference of her and "Nova." I'm all for celebrity/famous characters, so it was intriguing to see both aspects of that character. I was shocked by the turn of events and the twists along the story. I absolutely loved it, though. The author has a magical way with words that make you feel like you're there, experiencing it along the characters. The narrators in the audiobook truly did these characters' justice. I felt the depth of Nova more in the audiobook than I did reading from the book. I think the narrators were amazing at providing that depth for the characters but also portraying the emotions of those characters. I loved both the ebook and audiobook so much!!
I received the ebook from NetGalley and Canary Street Press. I also received the audiobook from Harlequin Audio. Both formats were given to me to read/listen and review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book and listening to the audiobook.

Heart of the sun was nothing I thought Mia Sheridan would write. This is a total game changer for her, the narrators where so amazingly talented they totally made me feel like they where a part of the character they got so well. The pace of the story was fast and exciting with some apocalyptic moments and some interesting scenes came along that had me thinking about this story in my sleep. This is definitely a great one and we can’t forget the love between these characters it was truly a great read.

Thanks to Mia, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing both an ARC and ALC of this novel.
I was very intrigued by the premise of this book. However, I really struggled to get into it. It says it is a romance (Mia’s typical genre) but it just felt much more dystopian/sci-fi than romance. I applaud Mia for trying something new and I definitely think there’s an audience for this book, I just don’t think it’s me.

I was hooked, at first I was a bit hesitant because of the dystopian vibe the summary gave off, but it was so good. Obviously Mia Sheridan does not disappoint, the characters go through an obstacle of challenges and emotions that captured my heart. The romance was a second chance very slow burn because she had a boyfriend and realizes during this traumatic event that he’s not a great guy. As soon as he leaves the romance between Tuck and Emily begins to heat up. The audiobook did a great job capturing the characters emotions.
