This was such a fun 2nd book in the You Wish series. This time Gribblet goes missing, and Avery has to go find him in the lamp world. She also meets a new friend who has quite the story to tell. And, hopefully, will tell that story in a third volume, because now I definitely need to have a third volume!!

I loved this book just as much as the first! You will want to read book 1 before this because it offers a lot of background on the main characters and the world of magic lamps. The artwork is once again engaging and beautifully done. I really liked getting a little more of a glimpse into Gibblet's life and history from before Avery met him in book 1. Seeing more of the magic lamp universe was great and made it clear there are a lot more stories to be told. The introduction of the new characters was well integrated into this story and brought with them new discussions about the need for escape and revenge. I cannot wait to see what is next in store for Avery, Gibblet, and their new friends!

A fitting follow up to You wish, following Avery and Gribblet's adventures, in this instalment Gribblet is nostalgic and misses his parents. This leads to him making an unwise decision and it's up to Avery to rescue him with the help of some new friends (Franklin and Solong). I really enjoyed this book especially the aspects of friendship and sacrifice. I loved Franklin, he was such a refreshing and earnest character. The art was eye catching and fun. I would highly recommend to everyone.

An epic adventure that picks up with our favorite Gribblet in trouble and his found family going above and beyond to bring him back home. I loved how fiercely Gribblet is loved by everyone in this book and to see a pretty mature way of communicating and working through grief. The ending of this was so wholesome and heartwarming which definitely helped cut through some of the darker topics in this one.

Following on from book 1 I love how you could read this separate or following book 1. This, similar to book 1, is lighthearted and follows a different characters path. Graphic novel format makes it easy to read and follow along with including the limited text.

In the second book, it’s now the young girl’s friend’s turn to search for his parents. After he is kidnapped, she sets out to rescue him, making even more friends along the way. This adventure is even more dangerous than the first, but together, they find a way to reach their goal and save their loved ones.

Another really cute story this time focused on Gribblet finding out the truth behind his missing parents. I really liked the story and art style of this and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more from this author in the future.

I adored the first volume of this graphic novel so I was really excited to get to the next instalment! Gribblet is haunted by not knowing what happened to his parents and gets lured to the genie world by the chance of finding out what became of them, but ends up getting kidnapped and held captive. Avery then sets out to find Gribblet, meeting another Wishborn human in the process. A light-hearted adventure that highlights the importance of friendship and found family.
Thanks to #Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review

This made me feel good, it read a bit slower than the previous one but I'm okay with that.
It's an amazing read for children!

I received an electronic ARC from IDW Publishing through NetGalley.
Avery and Gribblet are back for another adventure. This book picks up shortly after they rescued Avery's mom and brought her home. Now Gribblet gets kidnapped as he tries to find his parents. Avery and some new friends locate him and together, they defeat the monster holding so many hostage. The artwork is a joy to study and provides further insight into the story. The final chapter sets up the third book and I look forward to reading it.
Readers will appreciate the adventures and the way each character shares more about themselves as the story unfolds. Victor uses a steady pace to unleash action and drama on this journey.

Great sequel with a strong set up for the third book. Look forward to reading it whenever it comes out! Loved meeting new characters and an expansion of the world’s drawings.

Gribblet is everything! This is their story not Avery’s, a story with a tumultuous start but the most wholesome ending. Follow along in the duos latest adventure where they go in search of Gribblets family but find a lot more than they anticipated.
Family has never meant more or been bigger for Abery or Gribblet. A very charming sequel. I’d been expecting a bit more character development but honestly just clear your mind and enjoy the journey rather than picking at the plot.
Thanks NetGalley and TopShelf for the ARC

Just as cute as the first one with another great story for middle grade readers. I really like the illustrations and like that the focus shifted to Gribblet.

An adorable follow up to the first volume. Charming narrative and great character design abound made for a captivating read. I really enjoyed this. Thank you for the opportunity.

This was a really great sequel. It was well-written and great development of the world. The art is really good. I liked learning more about the characters.

Avery loves her little family. Her mom is in their lives again and her best friend, Gribblet, lives with them. Their little life is totally copacetic…almost. Gribblet’s past is haunting him more and more as he yearns for past days. When given the chance to learn the truth of what happened to his parents, he jumps at the chance and ends up getting kidnapped. Avery must journey back to the genie realms and save her best friend.
Loved the first volume, enjoyed the second one as well. A couple things kind of nagged at me during this read. Gribblet is not a pet, but he lays in Avery’s lap? How are Avery’s parents okay with her travelling to different realms by herself? Overall, it was cheesy and adorable and worth the read.

Enjoyed this second installment. The artwork was scary and the storyline was dark. A good reminder that you need your friends, but also need to suspend belief that parents will let you go in a rescue mission and bring 5500 of your friends to the house. Sad about the lack of concept art at the end

after a thrilling book 1, I couldn’t resist book 2. This continues Avery’s journey into her magic, and into the world of the genies. She makes new friends and fights some TERRIFYING monsters. Properly brilliant. Love the illustration style.

A delightful continuation of the You Wish series. The main character is brave and kind, and this book really champions helping those in need. It is also a celebration of family and community.
Light, playful, and compassionate. This was a fun and uplifting read.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me an early copy of You Wish: Wishborn.
After loving the first one, I was very excited to dive into book 2! It started off with Gribblet dreaming about his parents and what happened to them. Then a guy appears to him telling him that he knows what happened to them and that Gribblet has to come with him to know too. Avery senses that something is amiss and decides to try finding Gribblet.
Knowing more about Gribblet and his story was an amazing idea as I love this character and so seeing the story with his parents- albeit sad- was great to read about.
It was such a wholesome story full of adventure, and around the topics of family, and friendship. I would highly highly recommend it and hope there will be more books in the series!!
