"What If I'm an Atheist?" by David Seidman provides useful context for those teens looking to understand just what atheism is, what its relationship with organized religion is, and whether or not it has a place in their lives. Seidman asks some truly tough questions (such as: "Are there atheist-friendly religions?" and "How do you tell your parents?") and always frames the answers in accessible language. Seidman's approach leaves room for teen readers to make an informed decision without feeling as though Seidman himself is guiding them to one specific conclusion, making this a fantastic fit for a library collection as well as a great gift for that questioning teen who simply wants to know more. The appendix and glossary at the end provide additional useful information, both for reading the book and finding more information on the subject.
