Sarah Dessen is always an automatic read for me. I loved the character of Sydney, and how stifled she felt in her life. Her parents were suffocating, and she was being punished for the acts of her brother. I think teens will definitely relate. Thanks to Netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an unbiased review.

Sadly this book just didn’t grab as much as I hoped it would. I put it down and picked it up multiple times but I just couldn’t connect with it. Super bummed.

ARC read from Net Galley

So your older brother has done something criminal and your parents just don't accept it. It's making your life the pits. So you decide it's time for a change. You move to a new school, try to make new friends, etc. But what do you do when your family just won't move forward? Continue beating your head against the wall? Give in?

This Sarah Dessen novel is darker than her other books, and much more realistic fiction than romance.

This is also the first Sarah Dessen novel that I have really, really enjoyed and believe that teens will truly enjoy it as well.

Saint Anything is Dessen like we have never seen her before. This book is a bit darker, a bit quieter, and a bit slower - but in ways that make the build up feel more real. I loved this book.
