This is the perfect short love story—sweet, sincere, and surprisingly profound for its length. Abby Jimenez somehow manages to pack an entire emotional journey into just a few chapters, and I’m still in awe of how much depth and meaning this story held.
Seth and Charlotte’s connection feels instantly genuine. Their flirtatious banter sparkles, and Seth’s romantic gestures had me swooning. The chemistry between them is magnetic, and I found myself smiling through so many of their moments together. For such a brief read, the story feels full and complete, which is no small feat. That said, I wouldn’t have minded just a touch more spice!
What truly elevates the experience is the narration. Connor Crais and Julia Whelan are a dream team. Their voices bring Seth and Charlotte to life in such a vivid way that I felt like I was right there with them. The emotion, timing, and delivery were pitch-perfect from start to finish.
Whether you’re a longtime Abby Jimenez fan or new to her work, The Fall Risk is a must-listen—a warm, witty, and heartfelt love story that lingers well after the final word.

I can't get enough of Abby Jimenez. "The Fall Risk" will have you falling in love with Abby if you haven't already! Her writing is fun and full of entertainment. I think Abby and I must just have the same sense of humor. If you enjoy books, you'll find this such a quick, happy read.

Book: The Fall Risk
Author: Abby Jimenez
Rating: 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Omgosh! I loved this book so much!
This book was short, sweet, suspensful, and full of so much tension between the main characters.
Even the side characters were perfect.
The FMC was such a bad$$ and I am so proud of her.
Let's be honest .. I wouldn't expect anything less from Abby!
You get:
• Novella
• Neighbors
• Forced Proximity
• Stalker
• He Falls First
• Banter
• Bada$$ FMC
I highly recommend this one! Available on KU, ebook, and audiobook.

If you need a little Abby novella to hold you over until her next full length novel is out in April, here it is!!! This book was SO CUTE! Adorable. She packed so much heart into this tiny little package!
•Forced proximity/neighbors
•LOL moments
•Romantic suspense
•Great banter and chemistry

I pressed play on The Fall Risk by Abby Jimenez expecting something quick and cute—and ended up completely charmed. This novella may be short, but it packs in all the warmth, wit, and emotional depth that makes Jimenez’s books so addictive.
The story centers on Charlotte, who’s been isolating herself after a traumatic stalking incident, and Seth, the sweet, recently divorced arborist next door. After a freak construction accident traps them in their apartments, the two strike up a connection that’s full of banter, vulnerability, and slow-burn charm.
What really made this one shine for me was the audiobook—Julia Whelan and Connor Crais are so good. Their narration brings the characters to life in a way that’s funny, heartfelt, and completely immersive. I could’ve listened to hours more of their back-and-forth.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for sending an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Rating - 4.5 stars rounded off
There’s no doubt you would “Fall” for this novella!
Thanks Brilliance audio and Amazon Original Stories for the ALC!
The narrators Julia Whelan & Connor Crais suited perfectly for the protagonists’ characters and rendered them so well even within the short duration.
Valentine’s day weekend is round the corner. When their apartment’s flight of stairs is knocked off by workmen, neighbours Seth and Charlotte are stranded with no way out. Charlotte is wary of men and is always armed with a bear spray. Seth is just divorced and is not looking to make his life any more complicated. But will this situation break the ice between them? Will they “Fall” - for each other?
You know the thing about novellas. Yes, they make us want more. But, #TheFallRisk is refreshingly just enough! The latest short story offering by #AbbyJimenez is sure to get you swooning pretty quickly.
The forced proximity trope is played cleverly with the building’s staircase getting removed. Jimenez packs so much backstory and builds character depth despite the short length.
Though the plot deals with a heavy subject matter like stalking, the lighthearted banter, the easy chemistry and witty humour balance it all out.
Cupid certainly hits the mark with this one towards the end and while true love shines through, some might feel things move unrealistically fast between our love birds, but it was a necessity given the nature of the genre and its innate essence.
The novella explores confronting and overcoming our fears, emphasises the importance of self-reliance, self-defence, the joy of reclaiming what's rightfully ours and gaining back one’s lost freedom through sheer bravery and conviction.
Another winner from the queen of soulful rom-coms!

This was a perfect little novella! The characters were well written and Jimenez was able to add in her brand of harder topics so easily. My only issue was I wish it was longer!

This was such a fun and quick novella that kept me engaged the entire way through! For a book of this length it actually had such great depth to the story and characters. I enjoyed the forced proximity situation the main characters found themselves in and the instalove to go along with it! I loved how Seth planned to step in and protect Charlotte but in the end she found the strength to do it herself with his support!
Julia Whelan and Connor Crais did a wonderful job portraying the characters with their narration.

Valentine’s Day Novella

This was a lot lol But I chalked it up to it being a novella. It needed to be as weird and insta lovey as possible to keep people interested I thought. It worked for me anyway lol
Ok so the reason I say this was a lot was because it was for it to be a novella. The whole back ground with both characters and then there was them falling in love. I thought this was gooing to be an HFN lol But I can’t say I was mad. I didn’t think it was that bad. But I can say I know there will be some that are upset by this. But like, you gotta understand this isn’t a fleshed out complete story. It’s just a snippet so she only had so many words.
The characters were cute tho. I liked the MMC. He was funny and immediately looked out for her, even when he didn’t know the whole story. And then there was the FMC and her back story. I liked that it was included because it gave her a way to not only show her soft side, but also her bad ass I’m not playing with you side lol And the supporting characters, like the old ladies? Top tier lol Comedy. I can only imagine how they were acting once they got out of the apartment lol
This was a lot, but it was enjoyable for what it was. I thought it was fun enough. I hope y’all at least try this. But read it with a grain of salt. Or not lol

💭What I thought would happen
I really had no thoughts but Abby x pink x novella. Like I’m about to snub that biatch..,
📖What actually happens:
⚠️Stalker
❤️🩹Divorce
🌳Tree facts (looooved)
🔥Instant chemistry
🤏🏻Forced Proximity
🗯Thoughts/sassy musings;
How is it freaking possible to write such a dramatic story in so few words?! A telltale sign of some talented writing (duh obviously)
As Abby’s biggest fan, I 10/10 recommend. I mean I rec all of her books (except The Friend Zone…don’t even get me started). So nugget is no different!
I was provided with a new creative way to hide a body so that was fun. IYKYK and if you don’t, you better find out 😉

I gave The Fall Risk a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars—not just because Abby Jimenez’s storytelling never disappoints, but because the audiobook production was absolutely stellar. Julia Whelan’s name alone guarantees an excellent listening experience, and she once again proves why she’s one of the best in the industry. Connor Crais was a fantastic complement, and together, their dual narration made the dialogue feel effortless and natural. The way they played off each other added so much to the humor and chemistry between Charlotte and Seth. Their performances felt authentic, making it easy to get swept up in the story, even in such a short format.
I was initially unsure how a novella would work for me, but Abby Jimenez has a way of making readers (or listeners) fall in love with her characters in no time. Charlotte and Seth are such fun, layered characters, and despite the short length, their journey felt fully developed. As expected from an Abby Jimenez book, there was humor, heart, and plenty of emotional depth. She also managed to weave in real-world issues, like the complexities of the justice system when it comes to stalking cases, without it ever feeling forced. Plus, I learned some unexpectedly useful things—like the self-defense tactic of putting a sock on a baseball bat, the importance of bear spray, and fun facts about trees!
The pacing of the audiobook was perfect, and the transitions between sections were seamless. The story flew by, and I honestly would have loved to spend more time with these characters. The best friend side characters were just as entertaining as the leads, which is another Jimenez signature. If this ever became a full-length novel, I’d be the first in line to read it.
If you’re considering which format to choose, I highly recommend the audiobook. The dual narration brings the story to life in a way that enhances the humor, romance, and tension, making it an even more immersive experience. Whether you’re a longtime Abby Jimenez fan or new to her work, The Fall Risk is a fun, fast, and engaging listen that delivers everything you’d want from a rom-com novella.
Goodreads Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you @BrilliancePublishing for providing this book for review consideration via @NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

My only complaint is that this was a novella??? Yet the story felt so deep in complete? HOW did Abby manage for such a swoon worthy and beautiful story all within less than 45min of an audiobook?
And I mean Julia Whelan and Connor Crais as narrators?? Yes this audiobook was pure perfection and my heart feels so much lighter today having devoured this gem 💕

I usually do not like short stories because it is hard for me to connect with the characters in a short time, but I absolutely loved The Fall Risk by Abby Jimenez. The main character, Charlotte has a backstory that is deep and Seth is male character book boyfriends are made of.
I needed this short boost of light in my life and I am so thankful to NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing for my gifted copy.

Thank you Brilliance Audio for my ALC!
The Fall Risk is a novella and I listened to it in just a few hours.
Short in length, it still packs a punch.
In just a few pages Abby Jimenez makes us fall for Charlotte and Seth romance and cheer for Charlotte’s triumph against her stalker.
Charlotte has been traumatized and on the run for a few years now as someone is stalking her. Even with a restraining order, he escaped the police and she never knows when he will come for her. She doesn’t live anymore. Homeworking, no dating, no social media, always living in fear.
Yet she hasn’t been idle as with her best friend’s help Izzy she now knows how to shoot and she has learned self defense.
On Valentine’s day, she wakes up to no stairs at all! She is trapped on her floor with her handsome neighbor “eight pack” Seth. What will follow is a sweet and whirlwind romance that I truly enjoyed reading.
Abby Jimenez writes such fantastic characters it’s a delight reading about them in this sweet and heart-warming story.

This had everything I love about Abby Jimenez’s books—sharp humor, quick wit, and a golden retriever book boyfriend who is peak green flag. I ate this up. The banter was top-tier, the chemistry was there, and I found myself laughing out loud more than once. I also loved the side characters, swim shady & the unfiltered old ladies!
If I had one complaint, I just wish it was longer. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters. The duet narration made it even better—it brought the story to life in a way that had me completely hooked. Fun, heartfelt, and effortlessly entertaining, this one was a win from start to finish.
Thank you to NetGalley & Brilliance Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5⭐️ same abby love story that we all know and love with a bit of a thriller twist?? i really enjoyed this and hope we get some more books like this from her in the future

“If you ever come back here,” I whispered, “you won’t find her, you’ll find me. And then no one will ever find you.”
Okayyyy Mr. Seth, I didn’t know I was reading a dark romance… 😂Jkjk.
This book was so cute and although it did have some dark themes Abby did her thing and still made me crack up like always. Highly highly recommend this book if you want a quick easy cute read that has you falling in love with characters and wanting more of them by the time you finish.

Super cute and super quick book. Even thought it was a novella the way Abby writes is amazing because when she was describing the stalker and all the feelings that come with it I was like yea girl I feel you.

This novella was really lovely and the audiobook was excellent. A quick but wonderful read and definitely deeper than one might expect. The audio narration made for a better experience, truly excellent. This was my first Abby Jimenez (I know, I know), but it's definitely not my last!

Such a cute novella. I love all thing suspenseful romance, and I cant believe Abby got everything in this short story! That is truly an achievement. Typically the pacing is weird in novella, but this is perfect and left me wanting more. Julia Whelan and Connor Crais did amazing bringing this short story to life.
