This was such a fantastic first read for Abby Jimenez for me! I have been excited to read from this author after having them be recommended to me time and time again and I get the hype! The writing is witty, funny, endearing and engaging. It was easy to become invested even if this was a really quick listen. The short format in no way affected the story for me and I loved having a quick little pick me up filled with hope, strength and a good dose of female rage I’d been needing. I also am a sucker for anything where he falls first and Seth is absolutely THAT guy. With equally lovable side characters (please give me our BFFS love story next) there was nothing but fun here for me.
The narration was spot on as well and fit the characters really well, especially Seth, his humor really comes through here and the voices were even great for our side characters! I think this would be such a great into to audiobooks for anyone hoping to give the format a chance as well. You get it all, the great storyline with all the emotion and tone brought to life.
Thank you Brilliance Audio and NetGalley for giving me this audiobook in exchange for my honest thoughts

There isn't anything from Abby Jimenez that I will not read and give 5 stars!!
This was so short and so good!!!! As usual Abby Jimenez bring a swoon-worthy romance with important topics that should be discussed and romance as a genre is one of the best vehicle for this.
I don't want to say much about this novel because as short as it is it might give a lot of spoilers (and Abbby.. maybe you can make a full novel companion of this?? I'm looking at the side characters here?!!
Narration as always was great! I can see ALL the characters alive in front of me!
Thank you so much NetGalley for this ALC of The Fall Risk in exchange of my honest opinion

Listened to this in one sitting. Abby Jimenez has done it again!
Charlotte has an unhinged stalker for the past 2 years, has moved 5 times since, never living her life like normal people would anymore. So when the stairs at her apartment disappeared one morning, she was glad. She didn’t mind holed up in her apartment. One thing, though: her neighbor living across her unit is a man and she doesn’t know anything about him.
Closed proximity in an unfortunate situation makes them grew closer, until they realized that they’re actually into each other. Weirdly, though, i didn’t really mind that it’s insta-attraction because their chemistry was so good. But then the stalker issue’s still there, and Charlotte doesn’t want to bring Seth into her life until it sorted for real.
It was quick but the plot is solid, the character dynamics was amusing. I especially love the old ladies lol i wish their scene was longer. Overall it’s lighthearted but terrifying at the same time because of course stalking is a serious issue that usually wouldn’t be taken too seriously by the authorities until it’s too late. Loved this story, though! The narrators are amazing too I enjoyed their performance. I loved how Julia’s still narrating Charlotte’s dialogues even in Seth’s POV and vice versa. The details!

A small little story with a big heart.
Just like any other Abby Jimenez book this one will make you swoon and leave you with a big smile on your face.
There’s something about the way she writes that is uplifting and wonderful.
I loved it!

Abby Jimenez doesn't miss. I think I actually liked her work in a short story more than in a traditional novel because it was all action and no extended third act breakup. Jimenez perfectly and sensitively tells the story of a victim of stalking. I also appreciated how self empowered she made this character. All around, perfect!

I loved this audiobook so much! The dual narration between Julia Whelan and Connor Crais was perfect and I loved getting to revisit this story in audiobook form!
How Abby Jimenez is able to write the most full-bodied, hilarious, and swoony romance (no steam in this one), in such a short amount of words still blows my mind! I loved every minute of it!

This novella is nothing short of sweet! A super fast audiobook, with two narrators, including THE Julia Whelan, that is sure to bring you smiles and several lol moments
This synopsis was perfect to be placed into a shorter story. I loved the bond between Charlotte and Seth that felt immediate upon their meeting. For a novella, it perfectly captured the positive change in Charlotte’s life by befriending Seth. And I think we could all use a kick ass friend like Izzy

I love Abby's books, and this novella just proves that she's a master of her craft! Only 82 pages or 1 hour 48 minutes on audio, THE FALL RISK is such a delightful romance. Writing such depth into a situation and characters in such a short time takes such talent, and I loved every minute of this read! There's action, chemistry, good friendship, and the banter we all know and love from Abby's books. This is co-narrated by Julia Whelan and Connor Crais and they are exceptional together! This is absolutely worth the listen.

“She met him on 23 and Me”
“Pecker Family Reunion”
“Swim Shady”
“She’s a cousin fu@ker!”
I did this one as an audiobook and it was fun.
I really liked both of the MCs and their friends.
Seth is quirky & adorable. I sorta LOVED hearing him talk about trees.
Charlotte is a nervous wreck but I really sympathized with her character. Love her support bear spray.
The characters were totally endearing. Loved them.
The sweet thing that Seth did on the balcony seemed a little too fast too soon but given their circumstances it worked really well for this book and wasn’t cheesy or too insta lovey. The peeling oranges thing I’ve never heard of but…it makes sense.
Overall a cute read and I’m glad I picked it up.

Abby Jimenez is queen of romance and the fall risk was perfection! I loved listening to this on audio. I thought the narrators added so much to their story. I really felt like they matched the characters and they're personally through their narration and they added so much emotion and sweetness to the story. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook of this story because it was so fun. I was smiling and swooning while listening. It's a must read and the story itself is so quintessential Abby that you will love it!

The Fall Risk is a great romance short that tackles stalking in an empowering way. On Valentine's weekend, neighbors Charlotte and Seth end up stuck in their apartments because the stairs to the ground level were accidentally removed by construction workers. She's on the run from a persistent stalker and he's a super nerd about trees. They have clear chemistry, but she has a lot of understandable fear. This is short, so the romance feels more like the start to something than something fully fledged, but I like how the author is able to give us a peek into their lives and take on a more serious topic as well. The audio narration is dual and really well done. I received an audio review copy via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

I will read anything Abby writes. This novella was so fun. I was laughing out loud for much of the 100 pages. The chemistry between Charlotte and Seth was palpable and chefs kiss!

Two strangers spend Valentine’s Day together when their apartment stairs are removed during renovation, effectively trapping them.
I found this to be a fun and unique take on the classic Valentine’s Day romcom. While utterly charming, in large part due to the quirky cast of characters, this book hits some very serious notes as well when it touches on harassment and stalking, and the trauma it causes.
The romance between our MCs, Charlotte and Sean, is adorable from the moment they share a meet cute in the hallway, through their first coffee date and beyond. It was hard not to cackle when the group of bonsai ladies hit the page carrying their “whore” inscribed cupcakes.
Even though it’s short, coming in at only 82 pages, this novella still packs a pretty hefty punch. Also fabulous on audio narrated by Julia Whelan and Connor Crais.

the setup…
Charlotte has just moved (again) into her Burbank apartment, another attempt to escape her stalker. Seth, her neighbor across the hall, has just finalized his divorce from the woman he thought he’d be married to forever. It’s the start of Valentine’s Day weekend and, as if that’s not dismal enough, they walk out onto their shared breezeway and find the steps leading down from their second floor level are gone…inadvertently demolished by construction workers. And, it can’t be resolved until Monday.
the heart of the story…
Now that’s a unique “forced proximity”concept. Charlotte is skittish because her stalker is real and a threat. Seth is an arborist and is wearing a boot from a recent injury so he’s sidelined as well. But the missing stairs creates the opportunity for these two to spend time together without any pressure. And, their attraction to each other is very clear. While there’s lots of fun banter, the stalker situation offers some depth to the story. I appreciated how they dealt with the issue authentically.
the narration…
I was in listening heaven with Julia Whelan and Connor Crais! She’s one of the best in the business and he’s my new “ear-throb.” I could listen to him all day, everyday. Treat yourself to the audio edition.
the bottom line…
I loved everything about this little gem of a novella, including the little Easter egg from Worst Wingman Ever. It reads like a full length novel with two wonderful characters at the center. And, their two best friends add even more comic relief. No risk at all.
