Dead to Me by Mary McCoy is a gripping noir-style mystery set in 1940s Hollywood. It follows Alice as she unravels the dark secrets surrounding her estranged sister’s near-fatal attack. The glamorous yet gritty backdrop is captivating, and Alice’s determination makes her a compelling lead. Perfect for fans of classic noir with a YA twist!
First of all this cover is amazing, sadly that is the only thing that is great about this story. I couldn't connect with the characters and it just seemed very repetitive and nothing stood out about it.
This book had a lot of promise, but it just didn't work for me. The plot was really complicated and it was hard to keep all of the characters straight.
Dead to Me is very much not my cuppa. It's dark (very dark), and full of horrible people and a horrible situation that isn't really resolved at the end of the book. Or rather, elements of it are resolved, but the situation that caused the horribleness still exists.
But if you like dark mysteries, you might like Dead to Me, as it is well written and the characters are believable.
