The first half of the book is fairly slow going. If you enjoyed Clan if the Cavebear, then you'll get through this section fine. If you're not used to pre-history stories you may find it utterly boring. It's also reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe and Swiss Family Robinson. Just finding ways to make things work.
The second half is where the most action is. I found this half to be thought provoking and heartstring tugging.
I didn't think I'd like the final outcome of this book based on the first bit (I feel it ran a bit too long), but the last part pulled it out of the mud. If you are a patient reader, I 100% recommend this book! I really like the different survival aspect of the dinosaurs as well as other things I won't spoil. I do look forward to reading the next installment of this series, which I hope comes soon!

The plot sounded intriguing and I was eager to read this book. However, the writing was so clunky as to limit the ability to engage as a reader. I think this author deserves a chance and has a great imagination. I will not publish my review, and I hope V. Casa finds an editor to help them with rewrites. This book has a lot of potential.

I absolutely was floored by the description of this book. It sounded so interesting and different from many books being published these days. Unfortunately, I found it quite poorly written, so I did not finish it entirely. For this reason, I will leave feedback here but will not leave a social media review.
I can usually suspend my disbelief for fantastical plots, but I found the fact that our main character wakes up and almost immediately begins to strategically form a plan to survive in a world where dinosaurs are now alive (and she eats prehistoric bugs without even hesitating) too laughable. She somehow learns to make and throw a spear that can pierce a dinosaur hide without any practice. She has no trouble figuring out what things are poisonous and climbs trees to escape life threatening situations with no issue. She is not an interesting enough character to follow for the whole book--I would rather watch a character struggle and learn by failure rather than watch one succeed immediately when there is no basis for the success. I understand the whole plot is based on Lily learning to survive on her own and be a badass, but it was all too far-fetched for me how perfect she was at the very beginning.
There were also SO many adverbs that it was a bit painful, and the little bit of dialogue in this book was not well done. So I would not be interested in reading interactions with her and other characters in future books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author V. Casa for the review copy.

Vaieon was exceptional. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed myself so immensely while reading a novel! I’ll be picking up a physical copy ASAP. V. Casa takes us on a voyage to the Cretaceous era, party of 1.
Lily, our charming and delightful main character, must navigate life among the dinosaurs. That’s all it takes to get you enthralled right?
The writing style will quickly sweep you off your feet and teleport you right in to the story. It was truly immersive and thrilling. I found myself having so much empathy for Lily but also for every dinosaur we met along her journey. As Lily’s tale unfolded, I was taken over with pride for her. The plot will have you “awww-ing,” “waaah-ing”, and “haha-ing”.
My family is annoyed that I won’t shut up about it!
My only qualm with Vaeion is that I needed at LEAST 200 more pages!
Thank you NetGalley and V. Casa for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
