this was a weird book to me,. It was a bit all over the place and confused me a lot. I think it was lacking and just not for me
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

This was a devastating book that spoke to me in numerous ways. I actually was unprepared in the emotions that Boris and Elodie brought forth.
Elodie has trauma, and it’s not something she is aware of. Boris is a stand in as a manifestation of that trauma, and basically no one can see him. He’s the manifestation of anxiety, depression, hurtful patterns. “I can never win with you, why do I even try” is something you will see at the beginning of each chapter. And with it, you see it evolve. The relentless of poor mental health and unresolved trauma, the exasperation of trying but never being good enough, and the outright frustration that encompasses it all.
Of course, none of this stated and it’s up to you as the reader to see it. Just like people can’t see Boris. Our struggles with mental health are quiet, relentless, tiring. We all go through life, like Elodie, white knuckling it, and learning to cope and deal as best as we can. And one day, you learn to let go and maybe see yourself and your mental health thrive.
This book was such an honest look at mental health and the impact it causes.
