I absolutely devoured *I Bet You’d Look Good in a Coffin*! Katy Brent has once again delivered a darkly hilarious and gripping story that’s impossible to put down. This sequel picks up with all the chaotic charm and sharp commentary of the first book, and somehow manages to raise the stakes even further.

The humor in this book is perfectly twisted—witty, sarcastic, and just the right amount of outrageous. I found myself laughing out loud in one moment and holding my breath the next. Brent has a real talent for blending comedy with crime, and it makes for a wildly entertaining ride.

The pacing is relentless in the best way possible. There’s never a dull moment, and each chapter pulls you deeper into the madness. What I appreciated most, though, is that the book doesn’t just entertain—it has something to say. The themes around patriarchy, power dynamics, and the treatment of women in society are woven in seamlessly. It’s sharp, relevant, and adds real depth to the story without ever feeling preachy.

As someone who loved the first book, I was thrilled with how well this one continues the journey. The character development, the callbacks, the growth—it all feels earned and satisfying. Brent manages to balance continuity with freshness, keeping returning readers hooked while still making the story feel exciting and new.

I was lucky enough to receive an advance reader copy from NetGalley and Harper360—huge thanks to both for the opportunity. This book was a complete blast, and I’m already hoping there’s more to come. If you’re into dark humor, fast-paced thrillers, and feminist revenge stories with bite, do not miss this one!

Book: I Bet You’d Look Good In A Coffin
Author: Katy Brent
Publisher: Harper 360
Pub Date: June 10, 2025

How can you not love Kitty Collins? She’s a serial killer but not your ordinary serial killer. She only kills men who deserves it. So what’s not to love? Kitty is filled with murderous and if you are like me and are in menopause then you probably are also. (It’s a joke…calm down Karen.) Katy Brent is the queen of dark humor! Just like her previous two books this is just as dark and hilariously twisted. Kitty makes murder look fun and she is just what I am looking for. Think Finlay Donovan meets Dexter and you have Kitty Collins.

Thank you Harper 360 and NetGalley for this sneak peak! Publication date is June 10, 2025.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper 360 for gifting me a digital ARC of the second book in the Kitty Collins series by Katy Brent. All opinions expressed in this review are my own - 5 stars!

Kitty Collins is a serial killer, because some men just deserve it. She's trying so hard to be good, even joining a support group called Angry Women Anonymous. But Blaze Bundy, an anonymous influencer spreading misogyny who's stalking Kitty, is making it really hard for her to control. Her mostly estranged mother is getting remarried and Kitty doesn't trust him at all.

You must first read How to Kill Men and Get Away With It, not only because you'll understand this book better, but because it's so darn good. These books are darkly funny and you will love the characters. While this book is definitely improbable, it's fun to watch Kitty stick up for wronged women and make sure that these bad men don't hurt anyone else. Plus there's a mystery to be solved - who exactly is Blaze Bundy? Put this book on your summer reading list for sure. Meanwhile, I'm hoping there's another book to come in this series!

Loved the dark humor and character development in this book! Didn’t see the twist at the end of the book and I did not have Blaze Bundy identified correctly at all. I’m looking forward to reading this author again. Thanks to Netgalley for the digital ARC!

✨Thank you @NetGalley and @harpercollins360 for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And thank you to @but_katy_did_it for always keeping me gluttonously entertained!

✨Kitty Collins is not your average run-of-the-mill serial killer. She’s smart. Fashionable. Popular. An influencer. And sick of everyone’s shit.

✨Having had to curb her murderous rage over the last several months, she’s itching to get back to business. Especially when Blaze Bundy enters her life, a misogynistic Instagram influencer that spouts hatred with every blog post. He would make it easy for her to dip her toe back into murderous waters.

✨Juggling her loving and near perfect boyfriend, Charlie, her very best girlfriends, a delusional mother having a shot-gun wedding, getting back to the influencer scene, and men at every turn testing her ounce-sized patience, Kitty has her hands full.

✨I knew I needed to read this after having loved How To Kill Men And Get Away With It. Think of Finlay Donovan meets female Dexter and you have Kitty Collins, who is filled with a feminist, cynical hatred of all things bad and actually does something about it.
This is funny. This is dark. This is exactly what I needed and what you need to add to your TBR immediately. You will root for Kitty, laugh at her wit, and not want the story to end. In fact, I strive to be Kitty Collins when I grow up 👀
Katy Brent does satirical prose like an Olympian, and I can’t get enough. All the stars!!

this was a pretty good book! I think some parts were way too cheesy for my liking, but other than that, it was enjoyable and had lots of funny moments. There were also some pretty unrealistic scenarios going on, which is annoying, but if it were more believable, it would be more enjoyable. I think the premise was good though!

Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

‘My name is Kitty Collins and I’m a serial killer.’

I remember having such a good time reading the first book, How to Kill Men and Get Away with it, and found Kitty to be quite the witty, resourceful and entertaining character.
But here, I felt a slight disconnect with her. She wasn’t unrecognizable per say, but she definitely came across different in more ways than one. Her view on men particularly, seemed as though it had undergone a sizable shift. Like she decided all men were evil now, rather than lasering in solely on those she knew were veritable predators.

I just felt like I had to reacquaint myself with her…. Well, no that’s not exactly right. It was more like I had to get to know this newer Kitty, Kitty 2.0 if you will.

But I remained invested throughout, and in the end and overall, I enjoyed the it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper 360 for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is not a Serious Book, but that’s not a bad thing! For a book about murder, this would make a pretty good beach read. It’s fast, entertaining, and funny. I had a few real LOL moments. Some.. ahem.. plot events… turned my stomach a bit (I’m pretty sensitive), but overall it wasn’t too terribly gruesome. There is a lot of ‘down with the patriarchy’ energy to the point of extreme (surely this woman can’t be so unlucky to come across THAT MANY very bad men!), but again, not a Serious Book, so ok.

I did not read the first book in the Kitty Collins series, but I was able to jump in with no problem. This book does just fine as a stand-alone.

This book did read as very Millennial with the first person POV. There are only so many times I can read the unironic use of “unaliving” before I start to lose a bit of sanity. A lot of “tell” rather than “show”, and I do think this was a bit too long. I was somewhat grumpy reading this starting out until I put myself into Not Serious mode, then I was able to enjoy it more.

3 stars. ARC provided by NetGalley.

I received an ARC of this ebook from NetGalley and Harper 360 in exchange for my honest review!

If this book is not on your TBR list- add it right now. Do NOT wait. This was an easy 4.5 star read for me. Kitty Collins is back. She is still as feminist as ever, funny, and very angry. I literally could not put this book down. I read it in less than 2 days. Dark, comedic, and a quick read- this book is full of tension, complex emotions, murderous rage. I loved the character development of Kitty, her mother, and other very important characters in the book. For fans of thrillers, and dark humor, this book was a really great sequel to How To Kill Men and Get Away With It.

I am definitely adding both books to my "re-read" list. Thank you to NetGalley and Harper 360, as well as Katy Brent, for the opportunity to review this ARC and I look forward to reading more of her work!

Oh Kitty! I was highly entertained while reading this. Kitty really knows how to take care of men (or anyone) who doesn’t need to be a part of society anymore. I love the dark humor and lightheartedness of this style of writing. I will be following Kitty for more adventures.

This book is a quick, entertaining read full of wit and humor. Kitty is a relatable character, and while her methods are, let’s say, questionable, they’re motivated by good intentions. The story balances dark humor with macabre moments, especially when Kitty channels her anger at the type of man she despises. With plenty of twists and turns, the book keeps you hooked until the end.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. I Bet You’d Look Good in a Coffin by Katy Brent is a darkly comedic and thrilling book that blends elements of mystery with coming-of-age themes. The book does a great job of mixing humor with darker tones, making it both eerie and oddly relatable. Brent’s writing is sharp and witty, capturing the emotional complexity of adolescence with an edge. It’s a quirky, fast-paced read that will appeal to fans of dark humor and those who enjoy a touch of the macabre.

Kitty is back at it, and I’ve fallen in love with her all over again. While the first book felt tight and controlled, this version of Kitty leans more into a “things are spiraling, and I’m anxious” vibe. The tension in this book—especially during the final climax—is breathtaking. I was on edge, waiting to see how everything would unfold, and the reveals? Stunning. 10/10 for me.

We finally get to meet Kitty’s elusive yet fabulously lovestruck mother, Carmela, and watch as Kitty’s killing sobriety starts to crack. When she suspects her stepdad-to-be, Gabriel, might just be the Andrew Tate-esque threat lurking in the shadows, all bets are off. Blaze Bundy is at the top of her hit list, and it’s a race to the altar to make sure he’s handled before the vows are exchanged. Normally, I pride myself on guessing plots, but Katy Brent is a master of her craft—just when you think you have it all figured out, she rips the rug from under you. This book is such an amazing escape from the patriarchy that I, too, feel like I’m sunning in the south of France instead of the current American political climate.

I loved Kitty’s journey as she wrestled with her thirst to take out bad men. She’s usually so careful, so I was genuinely shocked at all her slip-ups in this book. Carmela’s quick thinking saves Kitty from herself—just like with her first kill. Her mother and stepdad are fantastic characters, and I’m glad they played such a major role beyond just the wedding. Carmela is so much like Kitty, and watching their relationship evolve was one of my favorite parts. I don’t know why, but she’s giving me serious Parent Trap mom vibes.
The murders in this book felt far more out of Kitty’s control, and I really hope we get a follow-up where her newfound family helps usher her into her next vigilante era.

This book is an absolute blast—dark, funny, and delightfully twisted. Kitty, the main character, gave me major female Dexter vibes, and I loved every second of her sharp wit and killer instincts (literally). The mix of humor and suspense kept me hooked from start to finish. If you love morally complex characters and a fast-paced plot with a wicked sense of humor, this book is a must-read!

Such a great book. Couldn't stop reading it. Thank you for my advance reader copy. Can't wait to look up other books from this author.

Never have I read a book simply from it's title but this is the one. I got quite a few laughs over this, and I'm pretty sure I'd wear a t-shirt with this on it. Anyway, this was definitely a book different than any other that I have read, and I enjoyed reading most of it. And I pretty sure you will too. Just remember it's fiction.

This book is FULL of trigger warnings full of abuse towards females. I couldn't finish. However I did find the main character and how the author writes enjoyable.

Kitty Collins has decided to make a change in her life. Previously, she'd made it her mission to murder bad men, usually as painfully as possible. After accidentally killing the wrong man and now being in a happy relationship, she decides to just attend women's trauma group meetings instead and swears off her former murderous ways. At one meeting, however, she hears a story about a traumatized young woman who has been victimized by a powerful man and she's unable to control her murderous impulses. She'll be doing the world a favor by getting rid of a predator. At the same time, her estranged mother has suddenly turned up to bring Kitty and her boyfriend Charlie to France for her upcoming wedding, and she's not going to take no for an answer, despite how this might mess up Kitty's murderous routine. Kitty and her mother inherited vast wealth after the death (assisted) of her abattoir owning scumbag of a father. This allows them to wear expensive designer clothing while not having to bother with a pesky job. When Kitty arrives in Cannes, she's immediately suspicious of her mother's fiancé. He's much younger and gorgeous. When Kitty observes him for a while, she notes some even more questionable behavior. Her mother is in love, but it's up to Kitty to make sure a potential bad man doesn't marry her mother. When Charlie is called away for a work emergency and is suddenly ignoring her calls, Kitty's panic and murderous rage will have to find an outlet somewhere. Oh, and she's also being targeted and antagonized by an online misogynist who claims he's going to murder her, so she'll have to get to him first.

I enjoyed the really funny situations and the way Kitty can rationalize even the most outrageous behavior. The only strange thing is that as she's swanning around Cannes planning various evil deeds, she seems to forget quite often that someone is stalking her. I guess since she's been so successful in the murder business it makes her feel invincible. Even though she's very morally questionable, you can't help but root for Kitty to get away with it all!
