What a great thriller story, I devoured it and loved every minute.
Three serial killers and one cartel boss are on a prison bus when they escape. The hunt is on for the detectives as they follows clues through the woods. Dead bodies are piling up and they seem to be one step ahead. If they hit town no woman will be safe. On the other hand one of the escapees has a person vendetta. Will Dave and Jenna make it out alive?
This was one action packed, suspenseful read. My pulse was still racing long after it was over!

Fear For Her Life is book 25 in the excellent Kane and Alton series by D.K. Hood. This book had me up until 3 a.m. the night I started it because it grabs you immediately! Sheriff Alton and Deputy Kane are notified of a prison bus that is found in the forest. The bus has crashed it looks like and the driver is dead. The four prisoners, who were violent serial killers, are now on the loose. A young female prison guard was on the bus, but there's no sign of her anywhere. The prisoners must have her with them. Jenna immediately fears for the young woman's life. Jenna calls in for help with the search as the forest is huge and they could be anywhere! One of the prisoners was Souza, who Kane had testified against. Souza has threatened Kane and the fear is will now come after him and his family. Jenna and their son, Tauri, could now be in danger too.

The prisoners are making their way through the woods and using the prison guard to get people to open their cabins doors. They then barge in and kill anyone in their way. These men have been locked up for years and are the worst of the worst. Amy Clark, the prison guard, is horrified at their violence. As the search continues, familiar characters arrive to help Kane and Alton. This book is very suspenseful and you will be stressed out until the end! As the killers get closer to Sheriff Alton and her family, will she and Kane be able to protect their home and Tauri? Alton is very pregnant and due in 3 weeks, but she's still out there doing her job. That will worry you the entire time you're reading the book as this will be their first child. If you love a good thriller this is the book for you! It is available now and I rate it 5 stars! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Fear For Her Life in exchange for a fair review. #FearForHerLife

Another good story with all of the characters from their other books, as well as Beth Katz and her partner, being in this book. Here, the book starts with a group of prisoners escaping from a transfer and then causing havoc in the woods and also terrorizing the female prison guard whom they took. Jenna remains pregnant throughout the story, but you are dealing with that, and with Dave and Wolfe being gone, searching for another escaped prisoner. Overall, a good story.

I don't know how but this series keeps getting better! And if I didn't already love him, this story would put Kane in my heart. The suspense is pulse pounding. I really felt for Jenna. And my favorite aspect was the appearance of all my favorite characters by this author. Oh Beth! I can't wait for the next book.

So much to unpack with this book! So much is going on, and gosh, it got dark! Plus, it mentioned that Styles and Beth have a new case. I hope that means a new book is coming soon!

I blitz through the audiobook in one day, it's the only way I read these books, as I love the narrator. We have the serial killer central living it up to its name, as we don't just one or two, but three in town and another elsewhere. The team have to split up and yet work together, and with Jenna in her condition, she is reluctantly forced to hang back. Luckily, she had Jo and Beth on hand to help with Nanny Reyes and Tauri. I do love how Jenna is beginning to question Beth and her behaviour! This is making me tingle with excitement about what could happen in the future!!!

I loved seeing all the faces from this "universe", and Raven's logical thinking could be dangerous going forward, too. Especially if he clicks as to who "Junior" is!

I am excited, even after 25 books, to see what happens next, and I can't wait to see what the fallout could be for some characters. Each book is so fresh, and I feel like we are still only just starting a series, not 25 books in a series!

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this awesome book

ohhhh warning this one is dark and gritty..... and might cause triggers....

when the fire started in the prison it was a case of moving prisoners out so when the call came for 4 men to be moved to black rock falls a driver and a prison officer took them.... these men were the worst of the worst....

nobody expected what happened next apart from the one man.....

this is not a light read but its gripping and gritty and it brings all the characters together ... man dk hood isnt easy on her main characters at all but she sure can write a book that keeps you reading right to the end...

cant wait for the next book in this amazing series

I couldn’t love his series anymore than I do!
Having all the teams working together to bring down the scum of the earth was so deeply satisfying.
I wanted Beth to go all dark on at least one of the killers!
Every chapter was so tense sometimes I had to flip over to something else for a mini break but then I was right back to inhale the next word.
Kane’s masculinity was off the charts and made me a puddle of swoon in the very first chapter. The final takedown was the best!

As Jenna gets closer to her delivery date, she has to make some changes in how she handles cases. For example, no more trudging through the forest on extended searches. But she has done a good job of training her team and providing for a line of command for when she goes on maternity leave. And this is just the case to test her team - while Jenna runs point from the police station.

There are definitely some heart stopping moments throughout the story as the search for the escaped prisoners takes place and the violence that the escapees do. Another storyline follows one of the prisoners who was behind the escape and who is a definite threat to Jenna and her family. I loved how everyone pulled together, including bringing in the FBI, to help with the case.

Another great case for Kane and Alton. I love this series and can’t wait to see what they get up to next after.the killing of Sousa. Plenty of twists and turns and suspense to keep me hooked. Well rounded characters. Great writing style. Eagerly awaiting the next adventure. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Simply fantastic!! This was a refreshing/different experience reading one where you know who the bad guys are from the beginning. I'm used to having to try and figure out who the killer will end up being. DK has created another masterpiece, new well written characters added to the mythos. The regular cast of characters shine as always. A satisfying end to each of the villains made the end feel complete. Regular readers of this series will love this installment!!

Shut the front door and the back door! Black Rock Falls has always been known as Serial Killer Central, but in this latest thriller, there are many killers to apprehend. With three escaped prisoners who are serial killers, an unforgiving and violent cartel member, as well as a kidnapped prison guard, the chase is on. But it will not be easy. There are a lot of places to hide. I guess this is why all of the reinforcements (characters) that I know and love from the Kane and Alton series are present, including the dogs, as well as Dax Styles and Beth Katz from the Beth Katz series. This is a dream team of law enforcement, profilers and the kind of people you definitely want in your corner. To add insult to injury, Jenna is very pregnant, and therefore not very mobile, which is driving her crazy.

This story starts out crazy and just keeps trucking to the end. Spooky, creepy and downright evil individuals make this storyline more than a little disturbing as these men have no regard for human life. But yet I ate it up, hook, line and sinker. If you are a serial killer book reader, you will devour this newest installment, even though you may shiver a few times.

I felt compelled to read this book, even when I knew I needed to go to bed. I just could not put it down. I also had to think happy thoughts after finishing it, to get those evil men out of my mind. You better buckle up before you start this wild ride that is ticking with suspense and intrigue and abject evil. It is no surprise to me that this is another winner in the Kane and Alton series.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book chills you to the core. It is so cruel, and no soul is left behind. The enemy of Kane is in town, and he's not a nice man. Several murderers are on the loose in the forest, and the team is about to go through a hellish time. Kane has to protect his wife and kids, because his enemy is ready for whatever it takes...
Another great story, and as always excellent writing. This book will keep you up all night, haunted, and you will not be able to put it down until you've read the last word.

(4.5) Held my breath afraid to fall over the edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop. From page one you knew that transport was not going to end well. Page turner running the gambit of emotion, fear, terror, horror, relief and off again. Jenna is sheriff and even when things come to light about who escaped and what's going down, she's out and about. It's all hands-on deck Rio, Rowley, Maggie, the ME Wolfe and his family, her husband Dave Detective. Assisting are Styes and Katz, Jo and Carter, Raven and the K9's. There is a lot going on. Snuggle in, lock the doors and treat yourself. Thank you for the advanced copy. I freely volunteer my honest thoughts and opinions. #FearForHerLife #DetectivesKaneandAlton #DKHood #Bookouture #NetGalley

As Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy David Kane rush into the remote pine forest surrounding Black Rock Falls, Jenna’s pulse races when she sees the glint of metal behind a line of a prison bus, the lifeless body of its driver slumped over the steering wheel, and its four prisoners escaped into the wilderness. Jenna’s heart pounds at the thought of the violent murders each of the fugitives committed, among them the The Ice Pick Killer who drove women to remote locations before taking their innocent young lives. And worse, female warden, Amy Clark, is missing from the bus. Amy is new to the job, and her family have been calling for news on the lost van for hours.
Jenna & Dave are back for the twenty fifth time & another edge of the seat book. I’m so glad I don’t live near Black Rock Falls (LOL). I love Jenna & Dave not only for their grit & determination but also how their relationship has grown, changed & deepened throughout the series. Well written, this page turner had me reading well into the night to finish it, roll on book twenty six
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own

Detectives Kane & Alton #25

As Sheriff Jenna Alton and he deputy Dave Kane the remote pine forest surrounding Black Rock Falls, Jenna's pulse races when she sees the glint of metal behind a line of a prison bus, the lifeless body of its driver slumped over the steering wheel, and it's four prisoners escaped into the wilderness. Jenna's heart pounds at the thought of the violent murders each of the fugitives committed. among them The Ice Pick Killer who drove women to remote locations before taking their innocent young lives. And worse, female warden, Amy Clark, is missing from the bus.

Although she is now heavily pregnant, not even Dave can persuade Jenna to take it easy. All Jenna's team are back alongside Jo, Carter, Beth Katz, Dax Styles and Jenna's new recruit, Raven. They are all chasing the missing prisoners while Dave and Wolfe are off on a top secret mission. This is another fast-paced read and it's action-packed from beginning to end. I could not put this book down. I was fully invested from the first page, knowing I wouldn't be disappointed.

This is a brilliant crime thriller, and one of my favourites in this great series.
I think I enjoyed this one so much as there was lots going on and Jenna and Dave called on their friends and acquaintances to help.
With Jo, Carter, Styles, Beth and Raven on hand, the escaped criminals were on borrowed time.
I really felt for the prisoner officer they held hostage after their escape and the others who were victims of their twisted ways.
With Jenna being heavily pregnant, Dave tried to keep her protected, but if someone needs her help, Jenna will do all she can to get to them.
This is an action packed crime thriller that I’d highly recommend.
Thanks to Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

I was lucky to be an ARC reader for this book. This was my first read by D.K. Hood and I have to say, I was hooked. The story was gripping and there was so much going on that I was constantly wanting to find out what was going to happen. Even though this was a series, I think the author did a good job with background information on all of the characters where I could read this as a standalone. However, I think reading the books before this one would help a reader have a better idea of who the characters are. I’m a big fan of true crime stuff and having a book with 3 serial killers and a cartel boss as the villains was crazy!! I could vividly picture everything in my head for this book so I would recommend to anyone who enjoys thrillers or true crime

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Fear For Her Life’, book 25 in the Detectives Kane and Alton series written by D K Hood, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

A fire has been started deliberately in the prison at Deer Lodge, Montana, and four of the most dangerous prisoners are in a bus heading for Block Rock Falls County Prison. As a helicopter hovers over the bus there’s the sound of gunfire and the driver is shot dead and the men break free taking with them the female prison officer who was accompanying them. These men are dangerous and Sheriff Jenna Alton with her husband Deputy Dave Kane gather everyone available to help capture them before there’s more killing.

‘Fear For Her Life’ is another heart-stopping thriller and probably the most intriguing and scariest yet. Based at Black Rock Falls, or Serial Killer Central’ as it’s often called, are Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane who I love to read about, and it’s great to have them working again with FBI Agents Jo Wells and Ty Carter together with Agents Beth Katz and Dex Styles based at Rattlesnake Creek. Although this is book 25, this series never gets stale as there are always new characters and new situations to get my heart thumping and my pulse rising, so please Ms Hood never stop writing about them especially as Jenna and Dave are about to meet the newest addition to their family.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

I have followed this, and other D. K. Hood series, and I have enjoyed them, however, with this one I found the writing slightly awkward, and it was more romance story then I personally enjoy.

Looking forward to the next one in this series, and thanks again for the eARC.

Crazy exciting & crazy dark😳

Dark suspense through & through😰🏞
4.5🌟 stars
Thrills and unpredictable killers run rife in this latest in the Alton and Kane series based in Black Rock Falls, Montana.

Sheriff Jenna may be weeks away from giving birth to their anxiously awaited child, but no one can stop her from getting in the mix when escaped serial killer convicts wreak havoc in her neck of the woods and start murdering locals. Hubby Deputy Kane branches off with Dr. Wolfe in their own thriller subplot. Both sides of the story are heavy on action, deadly deeds and victims, both innocents and dangerous criminals . From the moment a young girl sees her murdered grandfather dragged away and a female prison guard escort finds herself at the mercy of sadistic killer convicts, this story had me totally immersed.

An added thrill: cyber expert Agent Beth Katz/aka the vigilante Tarot Card Killer, a main character in a break off series set in Montana, gets involved and ready to exact deadly justice if the opportunity arises. With so many serial killers of women about the area, how could she resist!

When I'm reading a DK. Hood thriller everyday concerns slip away and I'm there. The author is so good at creating suspenseful, life and death plots.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
