Really good book. This was action packed from beginning to the end. The characters were well written and the storyline was very intriguing. I really likely the undercover proceedings and I enjoyed getting to know all the characters. I didn't read the previous three books in this series, but I didn't have a problem with following along either with the character arc or the main characters backstory. I would recommend this book to my friends and family and I look forward to what's next from this author.

Had to reread book 3 as I'd forgotten how it ended. Found this a bit hard going to start but as id liked the other books I persevered. In the end ot was worth it. The storyline became quite tense wondering if Ryan's cover would be discovered and what the terrorists were up to. The personal situation between Ryan and Allyson was a bit fraught as well. I wasn't too keen on the way this was resolved. Ryan does seem quite self centred at times. Even when she is portraying it as for Allyson's own good you have to wonder is that really what she means or is it what she (Ryan) wants. So I feel the solution to their possible problem was in Ryan's best interest. Although the immediate terrorist situation was apparently taken care of we are left wondering if it really has. Possibly to be further addressed in another book.

The fourth book McLeod's series. I did go back and read the previous one's but I think that this book could pass as a standalone. The story starts just as the title suggests...undercover! I really enjoyed the relationship between Allison and Ryan and appreciated the history of their relationship more having read the first three books! I look forward to reading more by McLeod.

It might have worked as a standalone, but I read the first chapter then wanted to know more so went back and read the first 3 books before continuing. I should say when I got into the first 1, the next 3 only took me 2 days.
This is a series featuring Secret Service Agent Ryan O'Connor - written by a former Secret Service Agent - so expect action and reality - not all of it pleasant.
This story jumps straight in to Ryan being in deep cover (I lack the technical knowhow of Ryan - so she is living as her undercover character ), something she is not trained for. You'd like to think that wouldn't happen in reality but who knows.
You would also like to think that someone who had been in the news before and all over the press wouldn't be the ideal pick for the job!
Allison is not happy when she tracks Ryan down.
It's topical though - she's investigating a group of national patriots - people who are ideologically opposed to much of what makes life great - diversity.
As seems to be the norm for Ryan, she ends up in the hospital. She doesn't ever follow the rules though - but she is the good guy and will come out ok at the end.

These books are action packed - and full of interesting scenarios. They also depict secret service staff as humans - the full variety of them including arseholes.

I would definitely recommend reading this series - start at Book 1 though and you won't be able to resist reading the lot.

Deep Cover by Kara McLeod was a fast paced action packed book. Ryan is an undercover secret service agent working with the ATF. To say she is definitely in over her head, is an understatement. I fell in love with the characters in this book, and hope there are books in this series in the future. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

One of my favorite federal agent books, Ryan.is back, or so she thinks, and this time she’s undercover. This part of her story has a plot shattering bomb or two that I never expected, and the author hints at much more to come. Pieces of a puzzle were laid out and I can’t wait to find out what’s next. Thank you to the author, Bold Strokes Books, and NetGalley for the advance read in exchanged for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book, as I did the first three in the series. Hopefully Ryan will get a chance to heal, and Allison as well. I’m still upset with Allison as far as the jerk Beau is concerned, but hopefully she and Ryan can have a HEA.
I forgot to mention that it would have been nice if Ryan had visited Lucia’s grave. Just sayin’.

Agent Ryan O'Connor is a Secret Service Agent under deep coverwith the ATF in New York City for which I might add, she's not trained. However, I found the story quite engaging and was hooked from the beginning to the end. This is the 4th book in the series but I had absolutely no problem putting the pieces together. It can be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed every minute of it. Buckle your seat belts and enjoy the ride! I recommend.

Agent Ryan O’Connor is a secret service agent and currently undercover in NYC working with the ATF. The target is a disgruntled domestic terrorist group. Very quickly you’re drawn into the tediousness of undercover work, waiting for trust to be built, and something overt to happen. Ryan’s girlfriend Allison enters the picture with a new promotion that puts her over the operation for the secret service. Ryan isn’t really trained for this type of work and it leaves you on edge wondering if this will be a success or guessing the many ways it can go sideways.

I liked Ryan. She is earnest and dedicated. This is the first book I’ve read with this character but it is the fourth in the series. There is catching up on past events so I knew there were books I’d missed. Allison is concerned for Ryan’s safety but also going through some issues of her own. The pair have only been back together three months and the love word is used, although there is no intimacy in the book. The case itself is exciting. I enjoy police procedural novels. This one is less about putting clues together and more about waiting for things to happen.

I was engaged from the beginning and now will have to search out the previous books in the series. I enjoyed the author's writing style. And where she previously worked for the secret service she brings authenticity to the storyline.

Deep cover is as title suggests agent O'Conner goes under cover in a assignment she isnt very well prepared for. She has her personal life and her demons to deal with too.
This is book 4 which i never realised i did however go and read book 0ne first but it would be better to read in order. A good book. Thank you for advanced copy.

There are several places in this book where I had to pause and take a breath. Agent O’Connor (and the author!) puts us through the wringer… in a role she isn’t really trained for, and doing things she’s uncomfortable doing, means Ryan is in trouble and is struggling to remember what’s right and wrong. The tension ramps up beautifully and we’re never sure whether Ryan’s undercover role will see her end as a hero or a seriously injured, compromised agent (or worse).

Ms McLeod knows what she writes about and it shows. Very complex plotting is masterfully handled and you feel Ryan’s pain ~ physical and emotional.

If you’re new to the series, start with book one. If you don’t want to (what’s wrong with you?) then at least read book three as it does feed into this one. But it’s well written and you’ll follow even if you’ve never read Ms McLeod before… but do yourself a favour and read the whole series.

What would it look like if a (former) secret service agent wrote a story featuring a secret service agent? Oh wait a second, that‘s what the Agent O‘Connor series is about: real, gritty, no punches pulled - literally. All trigger warnings apply.
Ryan O‘Connor, always the maverick, somehow ends up in deep cover and as her maybe-girlfriend ever so unhelpful points out is neither trained nor suited for it. But here she is! Trying to find out about a domestic terrorist plot. We get a good glimpse into undercover work: the mundane, the ever-present fear of discovery, the watching and waiting, the nasty parts. Not much glory until there is and it turns out to be tainted.
Life is at the same time throwing Ryan and Allison a curveball - there never is the easy road for Ryan and their relationship.
If you have been waiting for #4 in this series, you might want to refresh you memory and reread at least the last book. If you‘re new to this series start with #1 you won‘t be disappointed - it‘s a wild ride.
