Magical fun!
Tina is a witch and also works for the police, so when their coven leader, and her mentor, goes missing she has to investigate and learn the truth. When a witch from another coven is acting suspiciously, and with Tina’s girlfriend belonging to that coven, Tina is faced with a life changing decision if she is going to save everyone.
Such a brilliantly imaginative, fun story packed with lots of magic and witchy moments. Tina was, as the title suggests, very innocent, but that was what made her perfect to be the one chosen to make the difficult choices and figure out what was going on. There were a lot of tense moments between Tina and Nikolette at first, but I was glad Nikolette was there for Tina when she also started to realise there was something bigger going on that meant things were not as simple for Tina as she perhaps thought.
Every piece of the puzzle deepened the mystery until Tina could start putting it all together and cleverly coming to conclusions. Clues had been left for her along the way, and with the help of her acquired familiars from her mentor, they were unstoppable. I admired her dedication to uncover the truth and get justice, and to protect those like her who were at risk. The familiars also ended up stealing most of show for me, and I didn’t think I’d find the empathy for Anansi, as like Tina I was wary, but I did in the end as did Tina and that surprised me massively.
A great story, a lot of fun to read, and I really recommend it for anyone who likes a little supernatural and witchcraft on a more lighthearted level.

I loved this book! The story definitely hooked me in and never gave me a reason to stop reading. The ending wasn’t as strong as I hoped. The lesbian relationship is annoying, but I personally do not like overly-sensitive or dramatic relationships. The MC also drove me nuts with her refusal to make decisions, complete tasks, and accept new information. However, this entire book was about the power of women. Each character is given a distinct personality, showing their individuality. The writing is magnificent, immersed me in the setting and conversations. The fantasy side is explained and portrayed well. I 100% recommend this book.

This book seems wonderful, unfortunately I am actively having a flare up and unable to review. I was quite put off by the publisher’s email notifying me of the approval for this read. I would rather make a purchase of this book than do an ARC review…..
I will look for this author’s work to purchase this book more directly from them and find their other books as this does not seem to be their debut.
(FTC guidelines dictate that reviewers do not to reviews in exchange for anything. It is left a voluntary feedback. Thank you. )
This is my honest feedback. Thank you for the approval.

struggled with this one at the start, for quite awhile I didn’t understand where the book was going but once it became clear it was an enjoyable read
I enjoyed how it explored how two people from two completely different covens can fall in love, I thought it was lovely even despite the hiccups.
I didn’t enjoy the ending, I don’t like books that end on a cliff hanger and this one did but I’m hopeful for a second book because I need to know how it all ends.
Overall a good book

This book delivers an engaging mix of mystery, magic, and romance. Tina, a witch and a cop, thought balancing both worlds would be easy—until a coven mentor goes missing. As she investigates, navigating both the supernatural and human realms, she and her love, Nikolette, grow even closer. It’s refreshing to see an already established couple working together as secrets and truths unfold. With witches, covens, and tea leaf readings woven into the mystery, this story pulls you in and keeps you hooked. A fantastic read!

Tina is a witch but also a cop she thought being both could be easy but when a mentor of coven goes missing she has her work cut out for her as she navigate not only the supernatural world but the human world as she and her love Nikolette grow more closer I like that they are already established and we get to see them work together as secrets and truths are revealed. I enjoy this read the characters were likable and the mystery was good.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

An enjoyable fantasy which is quite interesting. Both main characters are strong and have amzing chemistry. I recommend
Thank you Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley.

Could Recommend - A very readable and interesting read. Enjoyable for the right audience.
Paranormal. FF romance sub-plot, spice.
Key Points:
What a Wonderful World
I’m fuzzy on what defines something as paranormal, so hopefully I’ve got this right. But this is set in (what I assume) is some part of England where supernatural creatures somewhat co-exist alongside humans. Although it certainly isn’t perfect or idyllic, it’s reasonably functional and refreshing to see.
I enjoy this kind of setting, probably slightly more than I do the whole “we exist in secret” thing, and this was no exception. Human relations with the rest is clearly something that’s still being felt out, and those undertones are intriguing.
I’m In the Middle of Something
We have a romantic relationship! And they’re already involved!
Maybe it’s just my choice of reading but I feel like it’s so rare to see a relationship already in progress involving the main character. Although Tina’s relationship with Nikolette seems reasonably new, they’re definitely hot and heavy and I kind of liked that? It was good to see what happens after you find each other, and the resulting complications that can ensue. I wish I saw it more in books.
Am I Missing Something?
From the research that I did, this book was set in the same world as some existing stories that Young has previously written. It can, however, supposedly be read as a stand-alone as there were no outright series ties mentioned anywhere that I could find.
Although it wasn’t an outright obstruction to the events of the story, that connection was slightly distracting. I had this constant vague sense that there were elements I was missing, plot points that would make more sense if I read her other works. It detracted from my experience, somewhat, but the story itself was still enjoyable.
Can I Be More Obvious?
The one small hair in the meal, as it were, was the reveal. It felt to me as though the introduction, description, and characterisation of certain individuals made it quite apparent who was behind the disappearance of her mentor. It’s possible that I’ve just read too many of these. And certainly, I still wanted to find out the reasons behind it. But it did rather spoil the surprise, and therefore diminish the impact of said reveal when it occurred.
In summary, an easy and enjoyable read. Something I would recommend who enjoy the odd urban fantasy, just without the city as a character.

Witches, covens and reading tea leaves are part of Tina’s story. What happens when witch goes missing?
Truths and secrets are going to come out. Will the witches be safe?
Fantasy isn’t my usual read but I do enjoy stories about witches, spells, seeing things that others don’t and this story did not disappoint.
