As a fan of everything vampire related I was excited to give this a read! Sadly, there wasn’t a whole lot to enjoy for me. The plot and romance was extremely fast paced, so much so it became forgettable. I think I was hoping for a more cutesy shoujo-esque art style, so I didn’t connect with the illustrations. I feel that this story would do better as an anime of shorts than a manga volume.

This is so different from what my normal genre is it took me a second to get used to but I was pleasantly surprised that I was very interested, and that cliff hanger was so rude! Thank you so much for this unique experience I had a great time reading this!

I'm quite new to the work of graphic novels but the cover and description really caught my eye. I have to admit, it started out a bit slow and I couldn't really understand why Pako and Amelie fell in love....but once they were together - WOW! The story really kicked off and I couldn't stop reading until I'd finished the whole thing. The art style in this novel is stunning, I found myself just spending extra time on some pages admiring the art. Whilst this story is short, there are multiple plot twists that had me turning the pages for more. I just love a good vampire versus werewolf storyline - also Amelie's family is so cool - the individual styles they all had were very impressive.
Overall a short but punchy story accompanied by incredible illustrations. There are some graphic parts that include sexual/violent images - but it's sooo darn cool!! Very gothic and very cool. I would read another from this series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for an ARC!
Kind of loved this! Very fast paced romance about a vampire girl and the human boy she’s interested in. Lots of gore right off the bat with some really dynamic panelling. I will definitely be checking out the other volumes.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha for the ARC.
This story follows Amelie, a high schooler who is also a vampire. Amelie is in love with a human, Paco, which goes against the vampire's rules for living in the human realm. Some events lead to a surprise confession after school one day, but that is interrupted by an attack that outs Amelie as a vampire. Oh, and there are also werewolves.
It's silly, weird, bloody, gory, and a little over the top. The pacing is quite fast and the story and characters are a bit shallow (so far), but it's fun. It's a quick read that doesn't require a ton of thinking and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

A cute high school love story of Amelie and Pako, a vampire and human, with a fast-paced storyline accompanies a gruesome, but fun illustrations. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Thanks to both Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the e-ARC copy. This has not affected my review at all, which are my own thoughts.
And big thanks indeed because what an amazing story did I just discover with Dra-Q. This manga presents to us Amelie Kurosaki, an ordinary-looking high-schooler girl who is actually a 100 year old vampire. To navigate the human world, she must follow five simple rules, among which is never falling in love, for this will lead to bloodlust from her part. But she can't help it when her eyes always follow another student: Pako, a third-year boy who is the resident school delinquent. And when a confrontation reveals herself to him, they'll have to join forces and learn to accept the other as they are.
What I liked most about Dra-Q is how it didn't shy away from showing the most gorey aspects of vampires and other creatures that eventually get involve. How they can be nasty creatures, or the most subtle of beings until they've lured you to your death at their hands. All this follow closely by the main characters, and even the vampires themselves; Amelie's family, who gets introduce later in here.
Amelie is a young vampire that wants to experience and live in the human world, among them and interacting with them, not only observing. She's smart, she's a romantic at heart, and she's fiercely protective of those she loves, included Pako, the boy she likes, even if they haven't interacted much until the incident that makes them join forces and finally meet each other, making their hearts beat fast.
And our other character is the love interest, of course.
If he doesn't love you as a severed head, does he deserve the whole deal? I'd say no. So a point for Pako, who likes Amelie in all her glory, bloodlust included. I think Pako is an innovative character in the fighter/school delinquent archetype, where, even though he doesn't go looking for the fights, he doesn't back down for one when needed, more over if it's to defend his close ones. He also accepts Amelie as a vampire, not questioning it, and even helping her get her head back on her shoulders. Literally. He's a simple guy, now that I think about it, but he makes such a good pair with Amelie.
The romance starts strong, with the characters getting together in this very first volume, but the chemistry is seen, you can tell that these two can have one of the best romances ever, but there's going to be a lot of conflict and tension coming from outside parties that doesn't want them together.
Like Amelie's family, who doesn't approve of her romance with a human. The vampires' introduction was the best part of this volume for me. Their designs are amazing, they were as scary as vampires should be, and I want to know more about them.
Also, I liked that, for once, it is her not him who is the older "monster" of the humanxmonster pairing that's going on in Dra-Q. I think is somethings that is not seen much in manga (or in any type of vampire story, no matter the format), which make is fresh enough to not feel saturated even if it falls on other common tropes. Hopefully, we'll see it all develop and be its own thing in future volumes.
Finally, the art style was good enough for the story it is telling. It reminded me of older manga that also feature vampires, but with some modern touches. A style capable of showing the best and the worst of the violence of creatures and the sweetness of the main characters love.
To sum up: vampires, humans, werewolves and all the gore and conflict that stirs up among them, lace with some romantic drama and jealousy. Ultimately, a love story between two people who will take onto anyone and anything that will try to keep them apart.

Thank you Kodansha and Netgalley for the free copy.
I love paranormal romance and this one was no exception. The art style was so stunning and depicted the characters in such a vibrant and unique way. It was super easy to follow and quick to invest in as you kind of hit the ground running and get straight into it in the first chapter. I will definitely be continuing with the series and will likely pick up a physical copy of volume 1 for my collection.

Thank you, NetGalley for an advanced ARC of this manga for an honest review
I want to state that I am a fan of vampire stuff so when I saw this I was intrigued.
This wasn't a good manga, it had no character development at all, and it felt rushed to me because nothing drew me in to keep up my interest leaving me longing for a story that I didn't feel was flushed out enough or there

What a quick, fun read! I loved the art style as a whole, but especially enjoyed the way the beginning and flashback scenes were drawn. I did find the plot points a little far-fetched and dramatic, but honestly these added to the campy vibes. We're following a vampire girl chase after the human she loves while trying to balance the facade of a human life and a war with wolves. The only true gripe I had was the insta-love nature between the love interests. I feel as though their story would be more impactful if we had a little tension between them.
A huge thank you to Chiyo, Kodansha Comics, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this manga as an ARC.

I got the opportunity to ARC read this manga, and was drawn to it by the bright and colorful cover. I don't typically like vampire books, but I absolutely love the forbidden love trope. I also was drawn to the unique art style shown in this manga. The first volume was very fast paced and I cannot wait for volume 2! I can't wait to see where this forbidden love story turns!

This takes me back to the Old-style manga that I've ALWAYS loved!
90s manga art, that has that gorey, unsettling and mysterious vibe? this is the one for you. It's fast paced, daring, and has that right about of pacing action that will make you wish you had the next book in your hands straight away.
Amelie is a classic vampire, she's OLD-OLD but trapped in a young body. She's a vampire that wants so badly to enjoy living in a human world and do the things that humans do. In order to blend in with human society she has to follow 5 rules, but, unfortunately she breaks them pretty early on.
When the human world and school experiences a string of attacks that have nothing to do with her, she takes things into her own hands.
In a twist of fate she meets bad boy Pako, a guy who helped her out when he was younger (memory flash backs anyone? reluctant hero to romance?)
When she discovered its the werewolves attacking humans she is faced with a choice. Her first love, or her own identity to protect.
This was fast paced and exactly what I wanted from a manga! love that we are having a revival between werewolf vs vampire
Thank you net galley for this read!

What Twilight thinks it is. I absolutely loved how fast paced this way, and how easy it was to digest for a late night quick read to try to head to sleep. The gore isn’t too much, most people will easily handle it if not everyone. Love it

old school 90s manga art that is gorey and mysterious!!
Amelie is a 500 years old? (i may have misunderstood) vampire wanting to live in the human world as she appears to be in her teen vampire years and is allowed to attend a human high school as long as she follows 5 rules in the human realm
the human world is being attacked by a vampire and amelie knows its not her
when saving high school bad boy pako, she discovers the werewolves attacking humans, amelie must decide if her identity and life is worth more then humans and if first love is real

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Get you a man that kisses your dismembered head then sews it back on and loves you for you cause love ain’t about blood.
This was a fast paced, fun read. It was bloody and sweet.
Dra-Q is a story about a young vampire girl trying to live among humans after she fell in love with one and the hardships that comes with that for her. The art style it cute, and I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this series in the future.

Publishing date: 21.01.2025 (DD/MM/YYYY)
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the ARC. My opinions are my own.
TLDR: Vampire falls in love with a human. Queue the chaos, horniness, and craziness typical of these stories and you got this manga.
Amelie is a vampire who has fallen in love with the human boy Pako. Vampires are not allowed to do a plethora of things that most people do in a relationship, but that doesn't stop Amelie. Queue the chaos of a forbidden love.
These two are so horny for each other. Within a few pages we get a ... "wand" shot. Censored naturally, but regardless. This happens on a few more pages. Also, the "feelings" situation here is strange. I am still not sure if it was reciprocated, how long they have been feeling this, and so on. It came suddenly and no more explanation has been given.
Storywise this is very shallow. The only proper conflict here is that Amelie is not allowed to have feelings. Because it might have consequences of some kind. The other "conflicts" get resolved pretty quickly, so I am looking past them.
The artstyle is pretty nice, I haven't seen something similar to this in years so it was very refreshing. A little more refined than the usual manga style.
Also the vibes here are great, exactly my kind of vibes.
Audience ... Adult. There are some things that happen here that only adults should see. New adult is fine too, but definitely a more mature audience is needed.
I am shamefully giving this 4 stars. This manga falls into the group "fast-food reads" where the quality is questionable, but I had the time of my life regardless. Will I read more? Oh yes, the moment more comes out I will. Will I recommend this? To most, no. But to freaks like me? Yes, yes I will

This was a fun yet brutal and tragic love story.
True love is losing your head in a fight, killing a "creature" for the boy you love, and then him sewing your head back on!
Loved the art style and the love story told. Would love to read more like this!!

Okeeeeeeeeeeey. Strange. Disturbing and strange and at the same time I want to know what's going to happen next.
A bloody manga, a bit perverted and that has a lot to tell us or maybe... the first one went by pretty quickly, an introduction to what this story could be. Nothing out of this world, nothing we haven't seen or read. But it is bloody and disturbing.
Would I read the next one? Surely yes.
Thank you very much Kodansha Comics for the ARC that I read on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Trashy
Silly
Horny
I couldn't stop reading this. It's like stupid, but also, extremely fast paced and fun? Basically a vampire chick falls in love with a human. But they get attacked, and once she's revealed to him, it's up to him to decide what that means. Love is in the air! Horny fun happens with a vampire sex scene kind of? Blood sucking never looked so horny. And a ending that should leave these two at war, but we know they'll keep loving each other.
A 4 out of 5. Will read more.

Not really my cup of tea. The story seems interesting, but the dialogue is a bit too crass, as well as too many scenes meant to entertain pre-teen boys.
