My first encounter with “Tuck Everlasting” was the Disney movie as a high school student. I loved it so much that I rewatched it multiple times. It is a story of a young and innocent girl named Winnie is who fell in love with an immortal boy. She yearns for a life of adventure beyond her borders when she stumbles upon the Tuck Family and later on discovers their secret to everlasting life. She now faces the choice of returning to her simple life or continue with them on their infinite journey.

This classic novel turned graphic is exceptionally done. The illustrations were well thought of and captured the essence of the original book. I’m so happy they made this.

Thank you Netgalley for this advanced copy. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This was so lovely! A dream of an adaptation, Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel captures the strong language and story from the original while also adding in new ways of seeing the story. It's been a while since I read the original, but this held up to my recollection of events. I love the colors used and the watercolor style fits the story so well. My favorite added visual element had to be the pages with the profile of different characters while they give their own perspective on life/death/immortality, with an accompanying image that matches like a rollercoaster. There are also some gorgeous full page spreads, and I love the way Woodman-Maynard incorporates narration into the landscape. The illustrator notes that she used lots of circle/wheel imagery to mirror the motif in the book, and she also added some pinwheels associated with Winnie., which was a nice touch The story is as moving and emotional as I remember, although because of the format this version is more quickly paced - I got through this in an hour or two. So you might not feel as connected with the characters since we meet them so briefly. Overall, this is a lovely, bittersweet, nostalgic story and I love how the graphic novel adaptation was able to remain faithful to and add to the narrative.

I think this is a pretty decent adaptation of a more classic novel in to a graphic novel. The story moves really quickly as a graphic novel and as a result you lose quite a bit of character development. Still, I think that kids are going to like it. Many kids who never would have picked up the novel will know the story now.

I first read this book as a sixth grader, and I find I love it more each time I read it. There's just something about this story - It's love and friendship and hope and struggle and so many feels. I loved the chance to revisit it as a graphic novel and to see the emotion still rang through the panels. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the look at this September 2025 release!

I loved the novel when I was younger and was so excited when I saw there was going to be a graphic novel. I just worried that it would not live up to the novel. Well, I had no reason to worry! This graphic novel is everything I wanted. I love the use of text in a visual way that supports the story. The very first page pulled me in with the use of text and the relaxing colors. It helps to set the stage for this gentle tale of a girl taking her first steps toward independence in her restrictive life. Thank you to Netfalley for the opportunity to read a electronic copy of this book.

So I really enjoyed this book when I was a child, and this brought back all the nostalgia!

The only thing that still gets me to this day is the messed up age gap between the two kids, but that's the only thing you'll catch when you're older.

We should all know by now that Tuck Everlasting is a true masterpiece and everyone should read it. Now that we are on the same page, this review will focus heavily on the artwork created by the lovely and talented K. Woodman-Maynard.

Doing a little research on Woodman-Maynard left me enamored, from studying illustration at Harvard to doing her first big illustration of The Great Gatsby, the hopes were high for her take on this beloved classic.

I love the fact that this could have been illustrated in a myriad of ways, but her medium is water colour and nothing could have fit this story better. The choice of colours for chapters and scenes brings so much depth and the colour theory was impeccably chosen. Not only were the characters vibrant but the scenes that called for more life or darkness were done with extreme care. I especially loved the chapter headings and the little bits of fun and foreshadowing of what was to come.

This was such a fun revival of something that already has so much joy and care baked throughout that I’d recommend a reread for anyone who loves it or to sit down with your kids and read through this version for the very first time.

Tuck Everlasting is one of my all-time favorite novels. I've read it at least 10 times, maybe more! I was beyond excited when I saw that it was being adapted as a graphic novel, but also worried that it wouldn't meet my very high expectations for it. I am thrilled to report that K. Woodman-Maynard not only captured the original story perfectly, but she made it even better! I absolutely loved every panel. The illustrations are beautiful and capture each character, the tone, and the details of the story perfectly. I love how K. embeds some of the text within the illustrations, making them an integral part of the pictures. The graphic novel stays true to the original, but also adds new details that enhance the story. Readers who love Tuck will appreciate this book, and readers who haven't read Tuck Everlasting will fall in love with Winnie, Mae, Angus, Jesse, and Miles, just as they have for the last 50 years. I highly recommend this book for all MG readers and beyond!

It's been years since I read Tuck Everlasting, but I was thrilled to find that it also has a graphic novel adaptation.

The art was so beautiful, and the story was condensed yet descriptive enough that I want to re-read the novel. I loved the extras at the end - a page from Natalie Babbitt's early drafts, an interview between K. Woodman-Maynard, and the artistic process of creating a graphic novel.

This is a must add to every library, and a must read for fans of the original work.

Thank you, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for the opportunity to read this ARC!

“When Winnie closed the gate on her oldest fears as she had closed the gate of her own fenced yard, she discovered the wings she’d always wished she had.”

“Winnie saw again the wide world spread before her shimmering with light and possibility. But the possibilities were different now. They did not point to what might happen to her…but to what she herself might keep from happening.”

I first read Tuck Everlasting in 1997 as a 7th grader. The story immediately drew me in and I fell in love. I have to admit that I am always drawn into a story with a little magic and a wood where the story takes place. Sweet little innocent Winnie is such a precious main character and I also love the Tuck family. The idea of living forever is both enchanting and scary. I’ve enjoyed several graphic novel versions of my favorite classic novels over the years and this one is exceptionally well-done. The illustrations are beautiful and the story remains the same captivating tale, true to the original. If you’ve never read Tuck Everlasting before, do yourself a favor and introduce yourself to it! You won’t be disappointed!

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillian Children’s Publishing Group for the opportunity to read Tuck Everlasting: A Graphic Novel by Natalie Babbitt and illustrated by K. Woodman - Maynard.

Winnie Foster is very bit a young child of 11 years old. She is restricted to her home and yard. Unfortunately, Winnie feels lonely and lost and looking for an adventure. She ends up running into an older teen, named Jesse Tuck. Jesse introduces Winnie to his family and they share their life stories with her.

The story follows Winnie’s journey to personal growth and understanding life.

The images are beautiful and pleasing to the eye. Great emotions depict through the images.

I really really adored this graphic novel and the new life it breathed into a classic story.

The tale of the Tuck family is one that has stuck with tons of readers for decades. There are so many things that stick out: the family's desire for life even though they're stuck living, the tragedy of their loved ones casting them aside, Winnie's struggle against her own familial ties, the questions asked regarding a life's value, etc. And while these are all things readers consider long after the final page is read and the cover is closed, it develops a whole new meaning when paired with the art of this graphic novel.

The art in this adaptation is not hyper realistic, but it does a great job of giving the characters personality and depth. It's easy to see Jesse's almost disastrous childlikeness. You can tell by the color schemes when the scene is truly carefree or when it's intense. Each Tuck family member has their own silhouette page, and the designs, while very different, perfectly portray their differences and even their varying view of life. This also ties into Winnie's silhouette at the end.

I thought the use of visual art really helped to establish the highs and lows of the story, and it made it even easier to care for the characters. It was a quick read, and even in that small time reconnecting with this story, I was near tears by the epilogue. Tuck Everlasting is such an incredible book, and forming it into a graphic novel - especially one of such high quality - is going to make it so much more accessible to younger audiences. I can't wait for young readers to have this book in their hands.

This graphic novel adaptation of the Tuck Everlasting story is a beautifully reimagined version of the beloved childhood classic. From my recollection, all the main moments of the story were appropriately captured in this adaption while taking out some of the details making this a shorter and enticing introduction for new readers and a nostalgic revisit for longtime fans. .

The stunning watercolor artwork breathes new life into the story, with vibrant illustrations that capture the essence of the original tale. Notably, the integration of text into the scenery adds a poetic dimension, enhancing the narrative's immersive quality. The inclusion of charming chapter title pages featuring animals is a gorgeous and whimsical touch.

I would highly recommend this for all readers!

5/5 stars -- it would appear that i need to reread tuck everlasting because boy did ya girl cry. the graphic novel adaptation did such a beautiful job of conveying natalie babbitt's gorgeous prose and the themes and messaging of the story. i'm obsessed with the silhouette pages (iykyk) and i love how the color palettes were so integral to the setting/time of each panel. it's hard to trim down a story to suit such a visual medium but, in my opinion, it was done perfectly. finally, i loved the end interview between the artist and lucy babbitt (natalie's daughter). not only did it reinforce the beautiful themes of tuck, but it also pointed out a small detail in the illustrations that i had missed which (surprise!) made me cry even more.

Note: I received a DRC from NetGalley in exchange for a review.

When I was in 5th Grade, my class read “Tuck Everlasting,” and I absolutely loved it. And after reading this new graphic novel adaptation of the book, my love for the book has grown even more. K. Woodman-Maynard’s gorgeous watercolor illustrations bring this book to life, and I absolutely loved it. This is my favorite graphic novel adaptation of any book that I have read, and I would recommend it to everyone who read and loved the original book, along with kids and teens from 4th to 9th Grade. This book is amazing, and I hope it is shared with kids for generations to come.

3.5 Stars.

I first watched Tuck Everlasting as a young child, and I still remember being completely captivated by its aesthetic and the magical concept behind the story. Years later, I discovered that it was actually based on a book—and as a lifelong bookworm, I had to pick it up immediately. The novel left a lasting impact on me, just as the movie had.

Recently, I had the opportunity to be an early reader of the graphic novel adaptation based on the book. Revisiting the story felt deeply nostalgic, and I loved experiencing it in a new format. The pacing was fast, and the artwork was beautifully drawn, bringing the world of Tuck Everlasting to life in a fresh, visual way.

However, my only issue was with the dialogue—or rather, the lack of it. Many speech bubbles were left blank, and I wasn’t sure if this was intentional. I even flipped through to the end of the graphic novel to see if there was any note or explanation, but found nothing that clarified this choice.

Despite that one hiccup, I genuinely enjoyed seeing Tuck Everlasting reimagined as a graphic novel. It’s always a special experience to revisit a beloved story in a new form.
