4.5⭐️ - Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for the ARC I received of this beautiful title that publishes on April 15th.
Fully expecting this to be like most other interior design books filled with advice on how that particular designer likes to decorate spaces, this creation by Olga Naiman was something I haven’t really seen before.
As a student of interior design once upon a time, I am constantly drawn to books, articles, posts that touch on how people create spaces. In Spatial Alchemy Naiman delves into why we create spaces and the power our spaces can have over us. This is a concept that I know all to well, but you rarely come across people who can speak in-depth about it. How our spaces can affect us on multiple levels, and that curating a space that reflects who we are and where we are going doesn’t mean we are superficial creatures (which I have been told in the past).
Naiman tackles home design how-to with the reader in mind. Questions are asked to allow the reader to evaluate what they may need from their space, and focuses on things that are readily available. No need to go on a shopping spree or pay contractors to demo your kitchen.
My favorite part: it is all very eclectic and not stuck to one design style. Much like our lives.
