This really was just the cutest perfect palette cleanser. A shirt and sweet novella, with just a hint of spice. A fun paranormal romance about a leprechaun and he soulmate.

Short & sweet! This was a pretty cute second chance, soulmates, dual POV romance.

(spoiler: I am personally not a fan of the soulmates trope)

The FMC Holly is a real life leprechaun! that was such a fun little addition but I wish the magic played a bigger role and I wish we’d gotten to see her and her sister's powers more. Overall, I just wished the book was longer! Would have liked more development of their relationship.

I liked this book. It had a unique premise that immediately made me interested It had elements of magic that I thought were intriguing. I only wish we got more information about how it worked. The romance was cute but it felt a bit rushed and I don’t really know the deeper motivations of the love interest. I also didn’t understand the deeper rooted issues of the MC and why she was so hesitant. Overall, it felt like the story could be fleshed out more but it was still a nice read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc

This was such a cute book to read right before St Patrick’s Day. This was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed the premise of the story and how the main character was a female leprechaun instead of it always being a male. I liked the love story between the two main characters and the magical aspect to it.

A cute little St Patrick’s Day novella!
Perfect for this time for year ☘️

Holly and Liam are super cute and I would love to see more from them, I liked the plot as it was different to my usual reads with a little spice I feel more would have taken away from the story so I think this was more than enough 🤭

Thank you to NetGalley and the author Bailey Black for the early arc! 📚

I was drawn in by the cover and premise of this book immediately! However this novella fell short. I liked the characters but the plot felt rushed for a short read.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’m going to be honest—I knew going into "Lucky in Love" that this kind of book probably wouldn’t be my thing. The premise of a leprechaun who grants wishes with dangerous consequences isn’t usually up my alley, but there was something about it that intrigued me enough to give it a shot. I love a good fantasy romance, so I figured, why not? Maybe it would surprise me. Unfortunately, I was right about not vibing with it. While the concept had potential, the execution fell flat, leaving me frustrated more often than entertained.

Let me start with the premise, because I can see how it could work in the right hands. Holly Flynn is a leprechaun, and every wish she grants comes at a dangerous cost—once a wish is fulfilled, the person who made the wish forgets everything before it, including Holly. It's an interesting twist on the idea of wish-granting magic, but it didn’t feel as fleshed out or compelling as it could have been. I was hoping for a deeper exploration of the consequences of these wishes, but instead, it felt like the book just skimmed the surface.

The romance between Holly and Liam, which should have been the heart of the story, just didn’t click for me. I wasn’t expecting a grand love story, but I did expect some emotional depth and chemistry. Unfortunately, that was missing. They didn’t have enough meaningful interactions for me to feel invested in their connection. The book told us they had this strong bond, but it didn’t show us why they were drawn to each other in the first place. Moments that should have been charged with tension or emotion felt rushed and underdeveloped. I couldn’t really feel the connection between them, which made it hard to care about their relationship.

Then there’s Liam’s bet. Supposedly, it was supposed to be a major conflict in the story, but there was zero urgency behind it. Liam puts something incredibly valuable on the line, but we don’t even get a clear explanation of how or why this bet came to be in the first place. Was it a drunken dare? A careless mistake? We never find out. On top of that, the supposed sabotage from Liam’s brothers felt like a plot point thrown in for drama’s sake, but we never actually meet these brothers or understand their motivations. The stakes didn’t feel real, and I found myself losing interest every time the bet was mentioned.

Holly’s secrecy about being a leprechaun was another element that didn’t sit well with me. I understand the need for conflict, but it felt like Holly kept important information from Liam for no good reason. As the story went on, her refusal to be honest about who she was felt more and more frustrating. It wasn’t like this was some big emotional struggle—it just seemed like a manufactured conflict to stretch out the plot. And when Holly finally started accepting their bond, she still didn’t explain what it actually meant. It felt like she was avoiding the issue for no reason, and it just didn’t make sense.

The world-building was another missed opportunity. We’re given glimpses of Holly’s family history and her father’s reputation, but none of it is explored in any meaningful way. There’s also talk of Liam’s brothers, but we never get any sense of who they are or what role they play. These vague hints could have added so much depth to the story, but instead, they just felt like unfinished ideas that didn’t go anywhere. The world felt underdeveloped, and it made the whole book feel shallow.

In the end, I just couldn’t finish the book. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good either. The plot felt confused and inconsistent, and I was never able to get invested in the characters or the romance. I knew going into this that it probably wouldn’t be a story I’d love, but I gave it a try anyway. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me. The pacing was off, the stakes were unclear, and the characters were flat. If you’re looking for a whimsical, lighthearted romance, there are definitely better books out there. This one just didn’t do it for me.

Ultimately, "Lucky in Love" felt rushed, underdeveloped, and superficial. There were glimpses of something interesting, but the story never fully delivered on its potential. For me, it was a miss, but I can see how it might appeal to readers who enjoy lighter, more surface-level fantasy romances. If you’re looking for something with more depth or emotional engagement, though, this probably isn’t the book for you.

This was a short and easy read. Perfect for when you're craving something light and cute or when you're in between books. Multiple perspectives are always great too.

I really enjoyed the magical aspect of the story and wished that it was developed a little more. Maybe because it's my first St. Patrick's day story, leprechaun magic felt unique and I loved everything that happened because of it.

Having said that, the magic created a few scenes/dialogues that felt forced to me. For example, Holly should have been aware of what was happening once she found out Liam remembered because she is familiar with her magic. Instead she seemed completely oblivious. I also would have preferred to see Holly freak out over her magic not working right away instead of later in the book.

Liam's dilemma was a good part of the story too. It didn't get fully fleshed out and ended up being more gimmicky which was a shame. Also I loved the sisterly scenes. I adored that Holly was the youngest out of the four. Their dynamic was great. Only if this was a longer book! I feel like there is so much left to be explored.

With a super cute cover, this book has great timing for not only Valentine's day, but also Saint Patrick's Day, and includes a mix of the two holidays in a cute little romance story. Though there is a lot of ads in the beginning of the book, it was cute enough to hook me from the beginning.

Holly, a leprechaun in the flesh, powers and all, is out flirting at the bar on the only night her magic works a year; Saint Patrick's Day. Her game is that she can trade a secret for a wish, but she always has the choice to decline it after being told the secret if it's not good enough, for instance. Her sister, however, always throws things for a spin, and tonight is no exception.

This is when Liam comes into the picture. He just wants a night off from his crazy bet he made with his brothers. Find a wife by the end of the year, or he loses his fortune to them. Though he was confident at the beginning, finding a woman he likes enough to wife up is proving to be a lot harder than he thought, and it's stressing him out big time.

That is, until he finds Holly, and when she grants his wish of spending the night with her, no pressure. Holly finds that she really likes him, like really likes him, and he feels the same. But Holly is terrified of love. Her mother had always told her the only way to get rid of her powers for good, is to marry for love. How will she know for sure?

This book is short and steamy, and I really enjoyed getting to know the characters. Though there is graphic sex scenes, they are also very short, and the story tells a lot more than you'd think for such a short book. I loved the characters, especially Liam for being so open and honest about his feelings. That's not something you always see today, guys being in touch with their feelings like that. Overall, I really liked this book, and I would absolutely check out another book by the author. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a new book to get into that isn't in a series or anything, just a standalone.

Lucky in Love is a cute read that will appeal to fans of contemporary romance. It's a story that is both heartwarming and thought-provoking, leaving readers with much to love long after the final page is turned. Just lost interest.

I abandoned the book (novella? It's only 100 pages) halfway through. The plot is inconsistent, the obstacles made up, the writing is all over the place. The book constantly makes you feel like you are reading the fourth installment in a series and you're supposed to know all these characters already, without filling you in on what they do or what is their relationship. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

This was a cute novella just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

Holly is a real life (half) leprechaun who reconnects with her college crush. Their connection should be erased once Holly grants Liam’s wish, but for some reason it remains.

The book was light and fluffy and a perfect palate cleanser between books. As with most novellas, I found the storyline to be a little rushed BUT it did not impact the character development.

I would recommend this magical St. Patrick’s Day read!

This book had an interesting premise, but unfortunately, it fell flat in execution. While I usually enjoy light, whimsical romances, this one felt underdeveloped, rushed, and lacking in emotional depth. It wasn’t that horrible, but it also wasn’t engaging enough to leave any lasting impression.

Liam’s bet was set up as an important conflict, yet there was no urgency behind it. He put something incredibly valuable on the line, but there was no explanation as to how the bet even came to be. Was it made in a drunken haze? Was there a deeper reason for it? His brothers supposedly sabotaged his chances, yet we never actually meet them or understand their motivations. It was difficult to care about the stakes when the story failed to establish them properly.

Holly’s secrecy regarding her true nature as a leprechaun was another frustrating aspect. Liam had every right to know the truth, yet she kept it from him for no clear reason. Even when she started accepting their connection, she avoided explaining what it actually meant. Instead of feeling like a real emotional struggle, it came across as forced conflict that could have been easily resolved with honest communication.

The romance itself was lacking in chemistry. Liam and Holly had very little meaningful interaction, making it hard to believe in their connection. The story frequently told us they had a bond, but it never truly showed us why they were drawn to each other. Moments that should have been filled with tension or emotion were instead glossed over, making their relationship feel superficial rather than compelling.

Beyond the romance, the world-building felt thin. There were vague hints about Holly’s family history, her father’s reputation, and the dynamics between Liam and his brothers, but none of these aspects were explored in depth. Instead of adding richness to the story, they felt like unfinished ideas that never went anywhere.

Overall, this book had potential but didn’t take the time to develop its characters, relationships, or plot in a satisfying way. It was a quick read, but one that ultimately felt incomplete. While some might enjoy it as a light, low-stakes romance, it didn’t work for me. That's why I'm giving it 1.5 ⭐.

This is the perfect short and sweet read for st Patrick’s day. Holly is a leprechaun. So once a year since she was seventeen she gets to ask for secrets and grant wishes. They never remember her once the game is gone. But this time it’s different. She doesn’t want him to forget her and it’s just her luck because the day after he shows up asking for another chance to hang out.

I love the plot of this book and I would love to read about her sisters and their powers.

A cute novella to dig you out of a reading slump or cleanse your palette in-between mythical worlds or heavy reads.

Holly is a real life leprechaun who stays away from love because she not sure what the consequences of finding love will be. Liam has not forgotten about Holly since college - always thinking of her as the one who got away. Lucky in Love is the story of their magical night together, and what happens when the magic wears away and reality sinks in.

Thank you NetGalley, BooksGoSocial, and Bailey B. for allowing me to read this story in exchange for my honest opinion.

Okay, this book had me in a chokehold. Holly Flynn is not your average rom-com lead—she’s a literal leprechaun with a wish-granting gig that comes with a major catch: once she grants a wish, the person forgets everything about her. So when a random (but insanely hot) guy wishes for one unforgettable night, she’s ready for the usual poof, bye-bye routine—except he remembers. Like, full-on, "Hey, remember me?" at her doorstep a week later. UM, EXCUSE ME?! What follows is a swoony, high-stakes, WTF is happening kind of romance that had me flipping pages like my life depended on it. Holly is such a fun, chaotic mess, and the mystery of why this guy is different keeps things spicy. If you love magical romance with a sprinkle of angst and a whole lot of tension, Lucky in Love is an instant add-to-TBR.

What a cute rom-com story just in time for St. Patrick's Day festivities to start! Second chance romance for a leprechaun gal and a cinnamon roll MMC!

Holly and Liam just had a connection from the get go that was meant to be erased but for some odd reason, he keeps coming back to her. (So he definitely falls first!) Love his Dad jokes, his longing for Holly... just absolutely adorable. Holly, just not used to something permanent, is torn on her feelings for Liam...

It was a short fluff read in between books, however there were just important parts of the books that had be very confused and left unanswered. Maybe there's a second book?! Even for Holly's sister's Dahlia and River?! The book was cute... I just felt like it missed a lot of depth.
