Husband Missing by Lisa Regan
Detective Josie Quinn # 22

Intense intricately plotted superbly told roller coaster ride from beginning to end ~ Couldn’t put it down!

What I liked:
* Josie: homicide detective, survivor with huge backstory in the previous books, wife to Noah, strong, resilient, intelligent, team player, compartmentalizes, has much to deal with this time
* Noah: police department lieutenant, Josie’s husband, calm, wise, good leader, sees the big picture, good man, kidnapped and time is ticking while they search for him
* Catching up with characters from previous books in the series, being reminded of their parts in the past, and wondering how they will show up in the future
* The glimpse into Josie’s biological family, how they are doing, how protective they are of one another, and how there are there for Josie when Noah is kidnapped
* Kyle Turner: relatively new hire, difficult, inappropriate, glued to his phone, seems a misfit for the team…but also seems to have a backstory I want to hear…and he is growing on me ;)
* The twists and turns and complexity of this book
* The deeper look into the backstory of the woman that kidnapped Josie when she was a baby – I had to draw a family tree in the end and realized how twisted things really were
* The police procedural aspects with the intense methodical work going back to the past to solve current crimes
* The love between Noah and Josie and how strong it is
* The last page with the visitor who arrived ~ Can’t wait to see what happens next!

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant to dislike
* Thinking about how evil some people are and then wondering if it is to do with nature or nurture and how they could live without remorse for some of the things they did

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Oh, Lisa Regan. Just when I think you couldn’t possibly write a book that would rip my heart out any more than the last, you somehow do. I do not know how you keep writing book after amazing book, and yet with each new installment, you blow my mind with your fantastic storytelling again.

Here, Josie returns home after catching a new case involving the murder of Gina Phelan, part of the Phelan Construction family. But when she gets there, she doesn’t find Noah waiting for her. Instead, she finds her home torn apart, blood everywhere, and Noah gone.

Josie is used to being the one solving the crimes, not the one waiting for the police to do their job. Y’all know she can’t turn off her investigative brain with Noah missing and time of the essence. And it soon becomes clear that Josie is going to have to go way back down memory lane to unravel this mystery – all the way back to Lila, the woman who kidnapped Josie and made her life a horror.

I’m so used to Josie and Noah being able to bounce things off each other as they investigate crimes that it was weird having a story without him as part of the team. But we get to see more of Trinity, Josie’s twin sister, as she uses her journalistic know-how to help Josie piece together clues. And this time, Turner isn’t quite as much of a troll as he has been in previous books. Maybe he’ll actually end up being a likable person and a good detective? We can hope!

The story ties up some of the loose ends left hanging from Josie’s younger years. And as she so often does, Lisa Regan ends things in a way that leaves me biting my nails waiting for the next one. I’m not going to tell you how she does it. That’s her job, and she does it admirably. Go get the book and get to reading! And while you can read this book as a stand-alone, you’ll want to start with book one and get alllllllll the backstory.

Husband Missing by Lisa Regan is another exceptional installment in the Detective Josie Quinn series, and it’s absolutely deserving of a five-star rating. Regan continues to deliver a fast-paced, gripping narrative that had me hooked from the very first page. This book is a perfect blend of suspense, emotional depth, and well-crafted twists, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout.

What I’ve loved about every book in this series is the depth of the characters, particularly Josie. She’s a strong, relatable protagonist whose growth throughout the series makes her feel even more real with each book. The way Regan layers her personal struggles with the intensity of the cases she solves gives the story an emotional resonance that elevates it beyond just a typical mystery.

Husband Missing is another thrilling and emotionally charged addition to the series, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who loves a great, character-driven mystery. Regan has once again proven her talent, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series!

Lisa Regan does it again with this Detective Josie Quinn book. This book kept me on pins and needles the entire time. I kept trying to figure out all the links and she definitely kept me on my toes.

When Josie gets called out to a murder scene and leaves Noah at home, she comes home to find the house ransacked, blood everywhere and Noah gone. Just like that Josie’s life is completely shattered, what would she do if Noah was no longer alive?

Taken off all her cases Josie has nothing to stop her thoughts from wandering. With Trinity at her side the two women work a shadow investigation and follow any and all the leads they find. Did Josie’s past come back to haunt her yet again?

This book did not let up from the minute it started, I devoured it and just wanted to keep reading, I had to find out what happened.

Thank you, NetGalley and Lisa Regan, for the ARC of this book.

Detective Josie Quinn makes a powerful return in this electrifying story. That grips you from start to finish. As Josie and her husband Noah, are busy transforming their spare room into a nursery for the baby they are eager to adopt. When Josie is called to the scene of a murder at a demonstration outside a children's hospital. Where Gina Phelan has been brutally stabbed to death, and after hours of intense investigation, she returns home, exhausted and saddened. Only to discover her house ransacked, her dog shut away, and her husband missing.

And so a frantic search kicks off, but Josie is understandably sidelined from the official investigation. Which leaves her with too much time on her hands and left contemplating a life without Noah. So she decides to pour all her energy into the Phelan case.

Yet, as she starts to delve deeper. The two investigations suddenly collide. When prints on the knife that was used to kill Gina are found inside her home.

But why would the killer of Gina Phelan target her husband?

And with a whirlwind of revelations and twists and turns. This is a story that enthrals and comes together spectacularly, leaving readers with an unforgettable ending and a thirst for more!

Husband Missing is another suspenseful crime thriller in Lisa Regan's Detective Josie Quinn series. In this installment, Regan delivers a tale that blends personal anguish with critical police investigation.

Josie and her husband Noah are making preparations for what they hope will be a joyful moment in their lives. Then Josie gets called to a crime scene. On her return home, she finds her house ransacked with blood on the floor and her husband missing. As a police officer, finding him was crucial but Josie couldn't be involved in the investigation. However, not one to sit by idly waiting for answers, she discretely searched for clues Her search opened a big can of worms. It would seem that not only was Noah's disappearance linked to her traumatic past, but there was also a connection to the murder scene she went to earlier.

Husband Missing, book 22 in the series packed an emotional punch. Another page-turning installment that evokes a variety of emotions. Previous books portrayed Josie as a tough cop; however, in Husband Missing, readers are exposed to her vulnerability. Always objective when conducting investigations, she finds her objectivity getting tested.

Throughout the story, one could feel her turmoil. The uncertainties weighed on her; however, the help of family and friends made navigating the uncertainties bearable.

Regan skillfully weaved all the threads together, providing a comprehensive view of the shocking and diabolical situation. Then at the moment when one believes questions have been answered, Regan drops a bombshell ending that leaves one hankering for the next book.

Another great addition to the series. Josie goes through so much in this book and she has to do it without her husband. She has to disconnect from the case, but she can’t. Everything relates to her past, it is so interesting how the plot unfolds and how it relates to Josie. You have to read it to see how. This was a very engaging read that kept me guessing, I really enjoyed how they found Noah and a connection saved his life. The ending makes you want more now, I definitely can’t wait to read the next book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Thank you to Bookoture and NetGalley for early access to this arc.

I had heard of this series by Lisa Regan before stumbling upon Husband Missing and I honestly didn’t know if I needed to read all previous 21 books or not but I just jumped right in. I didn’t feel I was missing out on anything. I just really enjoyed the book!

Great read. This was one of those ones where you can feel the characters emotions as your reading. I like that the shoe was on the other foot this time too where it wasn't Noah rescuing Josie but the other way around. I liked the character additions in this one as well and seeing Turner grow on Josie more.

I have read and really enjoyed every book in this series, but this one, WOW, amazing and intense from the very first pages! Detective Josie Quinn is called out on a case, but when she returns home, the house has been trashed and there is blood…but, where is Noah? Her husband and partner, Lt. Noah Fraley was home working on their nursery, but he is gone! Immediately, her team at Denton, P.D. are on high alert and the search begins. She must stay out of the investigation, which has been taken over by the state, but Josie will be conducting her own search. Her twin sister and an investigative journalist, will help her obtain information as they search for Noah. A clue will come from an unlikely source, a young woman who witnessed the stabbing death of another woman. Does she have anything to do with the murder or Noah’s abduction? Josie’s abusive past, from the time when she was abducted as a baby until reunited with her birth parents, has come back to haunt her once again. Will she ever be free from the machinations of the mad woman who kidnapped her and died in prison? Is Noah still alive and if so, will she find him in time? A complete rush from beginning to end! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

This is one of my favorite series. I first saw it on a what we’re buying list for my local library. I put it on hold. Waited my turn and then read it in a day. That was book 1 of the series. This is book 22 and I am still sold. And if you are wondering, each of the books can be read on its own but you’ll only see the growth of the team and Josie by reading the series.

Over the years the team and Josie’s support system has changed. It’s what made me fearful when Josie’s husband Noah goes missing. This is a police procedural and being a cop is a dangerous job in today’s world. I am sure that Josie will make it until the last book in the series, but I know everyone else could be collateral damage. I learned that a few books ago. The hard way. I am still smarting that one.

The fact that Noah goes missing during a time when they are preparing the nursery and at the start of their adoption journey adds to the tension. It shows the different sides of expanding your family versus potentially losing a family member.

It was such a change from the normal books where Josie runs towards the danger and works tirelessly to solve the case. And I loved how Josie and Turner’s relationship progressed as he helped to investigate the case. His nickname (appropriately and humorously) with the females on the team is douchebag. The two are on opposites sides of everything, yet Josie has to trust him to do the right thing. I really liked their dynamic in this one. And I also loved how all of Josie’s family jumps in to support her. As Noah remains missing, they remain to keep her grounded.

This one was definitely more about the people then the case. I can’t tell you if Noah is found or if he is OK, but I can assure you this was definitely one of my favorite in the series. And I am still processing that cliffhanger at the end of the book. Seriously it is out of left field and has me on the edge of my seat. It really is impressive that book 22 in the series is as fresh as it is. Ok what are you waiting for?

Husband Missing is book 22 in the Josie Quinn series and the most stressful to read thanks to the fantastic author Lisa Regan! Josie Quinn returns home from work just before Noah should be getting ready to head in! She's hoping they have a little time together before he has to go. As she pulls in the driveway she notices that Noah's truck has been moved since she left. He must've gone out to the store or something. As Josie approaches the door it's ajar and Josie knows something is very, very wrong. Noah would never leave the door open and their alarm system off. As she pushes open the door, the house is a disaster. Furniture knocked over, things broken, drawers pulled out and dumped on the floor, and then there's the blood. Lots and lots of blood. As fear grips every fiber of Josie, she races from room to room with her gun drawn making sure no one is still in the house. She's hoping to find Noah and their little dog. When she finishes, there is no Noah, but she found the dog unharmed.

Josie calls the station, 911, and waits for them to arrive. She waits outside as she doesn't want to mess up any evidence that the criminals may have left behind. Why would someone want to hurt Noah? Is it related to a case? How were they able to take Noah when he's so big, fit, and has so much training? Josie's heart is racing and she's thinking the worst while she waits for the police and her team to arrive. Who would do this and why? Josie can't figure it out. She had just been with Noah when she was called away on a case. How could he be gone? As the police and her team arrive, Josie is told she can have nothing to do with the case as she's too close to it. Family members are never allowed to investigate a case because of their emotional attachment. Trinity, Josie's sister, arrives and that helps calm her down a bit. Trinity can help Josie investigate behind the scenes as she's a famous journalist.

When fingerprints are found on a knife that link Josie's case to Noah's case, things begin to spiral. How are the two cases connected? Will Josie be able to figure it out in time to save Noah? Is Noah still alive? There's so much blood. This book had me emotional as I am very fond of Josie and Noah and want to read many more books with them both featured. I was racing through the second half of the book as I had to know one way or the other. This book will keep your heart pumping, your emotions frayed, and you won't be able to put it down! I rate Husband Missing 5 stars with my very highest recommendation. Husband Missing is out now and should not be missed. It can be read and enjoyed as a standalone book if you've never read any books in the series. If that's the case, you will be hooked, and become a fan of the series. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Husband Missing in exchange for a fair review. #HusbandMissing

I always enjoy a Josie Quinn new release!

Josie's latest case is very personal and hits close to home in many ways. She is racing against the clock and has to visit the past to operate in the present. Trying to find her husband and solve another murder , Josie is wondering if worlds will collide.

When her husband is taken Josie has to overcome rules and regulations to investigate the case. I really like her how family and friends came together and support her. There were a lot of twists and turns and tragedy to absorb, with a nice surprise at the very end!

I thank Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to spend some time with familiar characters and look forward to finding out where this is headed.

Intense doesn't cover it. The entire way through this book, I was shouting WHERE IS NOAH!!!!!!!!

It was a hard one to read because I just wanted to know where he was and what the heck was happening to him. Was he alive? I mean, why is no one telling me anything? My heart broke for Josie, especially when she was dealing with that, off the case, off another case, and then the adoption agency kept calling. Can she not catch a break?!

Then that ending!! I am now shouting because I need to know more! I can't be left like this hanging in suspense - who can I bribe to find out what is going to happen? Anyone?

It was a good opportunity to see more of Josie's and Noah's family, and I loved Josie and Trinity working together. Spin off me thinks 😉

I was a bit disappointed that Chitwood wasn't around much, as I thought he and Josie had a bond. I get he was probably working hard, trying to find Noah, and obviously Josie wasn't home much, but I just thought he might be around more.

So much backstory in Josie's life without being about Josie. It was fascinating. So much to take in, and how much destruction one person can still do, without being there.

Phew, I need a lie down now!

Lisa Regan is an author who never disappoints in any book she has written! The characters in these books have become like beloved friends that you cannot help rooting for. This book took me on an emotional roller-coaster with twists and turns and I could not stop reading it! That ending was everything and I cannot wait for the next book! Keep writing Lisa! This series is one of the best!

Detective Josie Quinn #22 is a tense page-turner! Josie is assigned to a case involving the stabbing of the adult daughter of the powerful and influential Phelan family in broad daylight. She returns home from her shift late the same night to find her house ransacked, her husband missing, and a significant pool of blood in their living room. Josie can't work the case, but when she realizes that "mementos" related to her traumatic past are among the items missing from their home, she and her twin sister decide to investigate whether there is a connection. With strong characters and an unpredictable plot, Husband Missing is a great addition to one of my favorite series!

The Queen of Suspence has done it again this is book 22 in the detective Josie Quinn series and it is a FABULOUS Addition to the series. This one in particular hits too close to home when detective Josie Quinn comes home and finds her husband Noah missing. I love how the older cases in previous series came to light in the newer books. As always Lisa Regan Crafts characters that feel like home and that they feel like family and your very best friends. An intense gripping action packed ride from Start to finish. The cliffhanger IYKIYKIYK!!! I can’t wait for book 23 bring it ON.

Josie Quinn! My favorite detective! I am always anxiously awaiting the next book in this series and I’m never disappointed.

Josie is ‘sidelined’ in this story because her husband, Noah, is missing. Even though she’s technically not supposed to be working the case, that’s not going to stop her from finding him. With her sister, Trinity’s help, she is determined to figure out how the murder at the beginning of this book, her mother’s stolen possessions and Noah’s disappearance are all related.

I couldn’t put this book down. I needed Noah to be safe and sound and back home.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of this book.
