A little cat begins asking its mother questions about the contours of the world, such as how high is it? How wide is it? The mother cat explains that the world is huge, and is a part of everyone, and owned by no one.
The illustrations are cute, and I liked the discussion between the mother and her child, as she encourages curiosity in her child, and explains how the world is massive, but shared by everyone who lives in it.
Thank you to Netgalley and to Publisher Spotlight for this ARC in exchange for my review.

Kids ask a multitude of questions, and adults don't always know how to answer some of their queries. In this charming book, a small kitten wonders about the size of the world. Luckily mother cat is there to explain things. Though it may be a bit text heavy, the illustrations are lovely, and the story is sweet. Hopefully both the reader and listener will close the book just a little more awed by the world around them.

A story all families can relate to. We as parents and caregivers know that "Why?" question happens on a regular basis. This adorable story follows a curious kitten and his mama Cat on their adventure through the day. Cute kitten has a million questions about the world and mana patiently answers and listens. They learn a lot about their amazing world and how it belongs to everyone and is full of wonders. Beautiful illustrations with captivating pictures help us see the magical journey.
A great book to share with your curious little one.
Enjoy the adventure together.

Absolutely gorgeous illustrations that draw you into a cozy feeling, while having wonderful details that keep you looking at them. I will be talking about this book for a long time, as the conversations this book can spark between children and adults is worth it's weight in gold. The Mama cat answering all of her kittens questions helps you learn, and yet still leaves room open for more in depth conversations and learning as a family.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions written are completely honest and my own.
A cute bedtime story that contains fun information about our planet. I enjoyed the kitty duo.

This book seems like a great book for children who are curious about the world. As a Librarian I would not read it as a story time book but I would refer it to patrons whose children asks a lot of questions, are curious about the world, or if they would like a good bed time story for their child(ren)

I liked this book, and I highly recommend it for the illustrations alone. They are magical and kind of remind me of if the illustrations in Tea Dragon Society were more realistic with highlights and shadows, which is to say the art in this book made it feel immersive.
I love the concept of the book, a kitten asks his mom about the world and how big, wide, tall, etc. it is, trying to make sense of his size and place in it. This book is definitely for older children who have big questions about the world and can stay focused through larger blocks of text.
I agree with another reviewer who said that the text could’ve been broken up a bit more and spread across the page so it doesn’t feel as dense. And while the illustrations were always beautiful, there were a couple of times where they didn’t depict what the text was saying/didn’t bring it to life.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to anyone who has a child in their life who is starting to look up at the stars and wonder how far away they are.

This is a well illustrated and well written book about a mom cat and a baby cat learning about the night sky.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

This is a sweet mother/child story. It reminds me quite a lot of Guess How Much I Love You. The cats are talking about the size of the world instead of the size of their love, but the love theme is very much a part of it.
The illustrations are lovely, sort of illuminated night-time scenes. It's sad (in the way most parent/child stories are sad to me somehow) but reassuring.
Thank you for the ARC. I will purchase a copy for my library.

Netgalley ARC - The illustrations are adorable and much of the writing is very sweet. Maybe just my personal taste but it felt a little much sometimes. Also not in love with outdoor cats as a concept. But I can see a kid really enjoying this, especially as a bedtime story.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This feels tough, I did read through this a few times to make sure I wasn’t being too critical and I read a number of positive reviews, but for me there were some serious issues in this book. I think it’s important to acknowledge that my son is a young toddler. So my review is coming from that lens and my response may be different if he were older and had the capacity to withstand the large blocks of text. That being said there is no way a young toddler would have the patience to sit through this story, there was SO much writing for the younger age group. On top of that, while the writing is good and inspired visuals, it rambles creating one of those situations where you have a large paragraph and two sentences would have done the trick. All this is forgivable depending on how the narrator presents the text, but I really do feel like a huge opportunity was missed with the illustrations . In all that writing there were so many instances where the cats could have been shown doing more and the illustrations could have broken up the big blocks of text. Ultimately the message was great and I didn’t hate it, but I was in a “chase my toddler around the room and try to make him care about this book” situation.

Awww, this picture book is so sweet and perfect for a nighttime routine. Before bed, Mama Cat takes her kitten for a walk. Kitten has a lot of questions, like how big the world is and who owns it. The pictures are very sweet too
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

How Far Are The Stars follows the journey of a mama cat and her kitten who is curious about seeing the world outside. Mama cat takes them for a short walk through the yard while her curious kitten asks questions about the universe.
This is perfect to read to toddlers and young children who are curious about how the world works. One part even explains how the world spins and gives us night and day, which is think kids would love since that was my favorite part.
The illustrations accompanying the story are cute, which allows children to follow along the story with the visuals.

A sweet picture book perfect for families or emerging readers.
How Far are the Stars follows an inquisitive kitten and their mama cat. The kitten is bursting with questions about the world and all of the things they can see. Mama cat humors them and answers all their big wide questions as they move through their garden.
As far as picture books go, this one was more on the wordy side, perfect for a story time cuddled up in bed or a new reader ready for a challenge. The words are a perfect combination of simple and repetitive while also introducing new and more challenging vocabulary.
The illustrations were beautiful, and I loved the change from night to day that shows the journey the two cats take through their day. While the book follows little cat and mama cat, it introduces other animals: the neighbor’s dog, a wiggly worm, and burrowing rats. There’s a lot of imagery and movement in each of the illustrations that give kids plenty to look at and take in.
Overall, this is a delightfully, cutesy mom and little one story that’s sure to touch the hearts of parents with their own curious littles.

This story follow a curious kitten that wants to understand the world. From knowing how big things are to how vast the world is. It's an adorable way to start the discussion of Earth, space and the sky. My two year old, loves the stars and his kitties, and I know he'll love this!

I loved this book and so did my kids. It's a touch long but the illustrations are stunning and the book has a lovely message and it was easily digestible for the kids.
I received this title as an eARC and I attest that I am leaving my review voluntarily and honestly.

A sweet, heartwarming story of a mama cat and her baby travelling near their home. The kitten has many questions about the world (How big is it? Where is it? Who owns it?) as well as many imaginative possible answers. Mama cat dutifully answers these questions and more, showing the kitten just how much they're a part of the world -- and how much of the world lives inside of them, as well.
All in all, this is a lovely story with beautiful illustrations. Perfect for the kiddo with a lot of imagination!
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

How Far Are the Stars is a sweet picture about a young kitten and their mother. The kitten has so many questions about the world around them and the mother helps explain just how big the earth is. The constant questions will feel very familiar to parents of young kiddos. The pacing is good and the illustrations show the movement throughout the story. It is a calm read and would be good for.m bedtime.
