5 ⭐️ - Thank you NetGalley and Viz Media for the arc, can’t wait to see more from the author!

Not only is the art gorgeous, but the story is beautiful. Shinpei is funny when he doesn’t have the I-will-kill-you look in his eyes. He’s drawn very well. I can’t wait for when the romance eventually grows, their tension is killing me.

Thank you NetGalley and VIZ Media for the digital ARC of “Firefly Wedding: Vol 2”! I was excited to see that the next volume was available for review. This volume was definitely a transitional one but it moved the plot forward a bit and was still very entertaining. The manga does a great job balancing Shinpei’s genuinely scary demeanor with humor. I appreciated that Satoko was so worried about honesty and love in this volume and we got some development for her character and her relationship with Shinpei! I wasn’t wild about the trio of courtesans bullying Satoko, but I guess it’s part of the genre unfortunately to have jealousy between women. I really hope this new character Aoi will continue to be a good female friend for Satoko. Another enjoyable volume, and I look forward to continuing to follow the series. I’ll be recommending this manga series to the young adult manga readers (with the appropriate trigger warnings for violence and sexuality) at my library.

"I'll make you feel free wherever you are"

it's really cute watching their relationship form and her feeling more comfortable to be strong and stand up for herself to him

A girl who is determined to marry a noble to live up to her family's expectations finds herself the obsession of an assassin and their strange but sweet romance continues. Satoko is determined to secure a marriage to benefit her family before she dies, as she has a heart condition... but finds her life turned upside down when she runs into the mysterious assassin named Shinpei. Satoko, in a desperate attempt to save herself agrees to marry Shinpei... but while he knows her proposal isn't sincere, he is extremely interested in her. Satoko now must find a way to break the engagement without losing her life... and picking up where the first book left off, Satoko has been kidnapped and imprisoned on an isle of prostitutes with Shinpei. Together they have to find a way out... but things only get more complicated as Shinpei refuses to let any other man touch her and she finds herself falling for him more. I've had so much fun with this story and while it is hilarious it's also sweet. The romance is so well done and the slowburn is so good. I can't wait for the next book!!!

We return to Satoko as she is imprisoned on an island of prostitutes and Shinpei still very much obsessed and protective of her.
Tasked with finding a way off the island and using her smarts to do so, would be simple if Shinpei wasn't so determined to stop any man from touching her.

Their relationship is getting sweeter and more tragic and I don't want this to end, ESPECIALLY with how I feel it will end.
Volume 2 showed a lot of insight on Shinpei's past & how his feelings for Satoko are real. Especially after she revealed she wasn't planning on marrying him but following her father's choice. He was angry but came back & is still willing to help her. That shows a lot of development on his character & devotion.
