This one was so hard to put down! It was nearly a 5 star read for me, I love me a witchy read I think it may be my favourite read ❤️
The context is that Miriam is an executive/witch runs into old frienemie Nelson (also a witch) at a fundraiser and their magical objects run away from them and this follows their quest to regain their magical objects.
The only reason I didn't make this a 5 star read was the FMC in the first half of the book she was driving me crazy. Overall though this was a very good read and I would read it again 😊

If magic were real, I would hope that it would give you exactly what you need instead of what you want. Nelson and Miriam could not be more different, at least on the surface. In fact, it surprised me that they could not even define their relationship before the one night. He saw her as a friend and she saw him as a nemesis. Whatever, they were to each other, their one night set off a wild chain of events that threatened to reshape wall street. In order to navigate the landscape of their search, they must rely on each other because their magic while different seemed to compliment the other. This was a good example of what a frenemies to lovers story should read like. Their relationship is complex until it isn't making them both better for it. The scene in the Chinese restaurant was amusing but a good example of how they worked well together despite their differences.
I also thought the conundrum that Miriam faced on what to do with the project she was working and how could she have both what she wanted, a partnership, and what the world needed, a hand. Just like magic, it seemed like life gave Miriam what she needed, a person to help her choose the right thing. Please note, she was not a bad person, it is just hard to decide between wants and needs and I think that was the theme of the whole book. She didn't want to see Nelson but she needed his help. She didn't want to fall for him but she needed someone to love. Wants vs. needs makes for tough decisions but magic led the way in this story. It was well written and amusing but also dealt with a very real underlying problem.
Thanks to NetGalley and Izzi House Books for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This was such a fun book that crossed stereotypes and opened hearts. I love that Nelson is a social worker and works to improve his community. I love that Miriam has a high powered job in finance. It was interesting that their relationships growing up were interpreted differently by each of them. Throw in magic and you have a wonderful book that I really enjoyed!

Do you ever just pick up the right book at the right time and it just makes your soul feel so much lighter? Well, that’s what The Witch of Wall Street did for me!
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that I am a Senior Tax Manager at a Big 4 accounting firm (blah blah blah). The way that Miriam was portrayed hit so close to home! She had worked her butt off her whole life to get to where she wanted to be (this big finance job), and then she still worked her butt off every day to keep it; she was often the one doing the best work but also the only one getting critiqued and if that doesn’t scream the environment that women in finance and accounting deal with on the daily, I don’t know what does!!!
Nelson was just the sweetie-est! That’s not a word, but that’s what he was, he embodied the nickname sweetie and I’m sticking with it. He just GOT it. He was secure enough in his masculinity to be vulnerable with her on several occasions, and he had absolutely no problem just being an adult and washing the dishes or picking up around the apartment. I loved that he wasn’t all alpha and macho, but a true helper and supportive to his friend/partner/eventual lover.
I just loved them together! From their rom-coms and trash TV watching, to him doing a lot of the domestic chores at her place while she worked and performed magic, to them just cuddling up after a long day of magical mysteries, it just felt RIGHT! Their chemistry was insane in a comfortable way that speaks to a future long and meaningful relationship, rather than just a passionate night of zings and zaps.
I loved their adventures through New York (and New Jersey!) and all the magical mishaps they found themselves in. From a magical dumpling shop where you lost your memories, to a CPA jinn (who was really freaking cool) who had them stare into their deepest desires, to a “final boss” of a clay blob, it was all incredibly exciting and fun to see them work together through the problems in search of their things.
I loved how Miriam was able to make the best of everything in the end and she let herself seek help from others to accomplish it. That was a big step for her, having never really relied on anyone before. I hear you M.J., loud and clear haha
Thank you to M.J. Etkind for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
4.5 stars!

Miriam is a chaos witch, whose magic is always just a bit out of control. She hates that about herself and strives to be as in control as possible. This desire has led her into the male-dominated world of finance where she can make lots of money and live a carefully controlled life. Nelson has been her nemesis since childhood. With his small miracle magic, keeping everything in order is easy for him. And Miriam has always resented that. Not to mention, her bank’s next project is trying to secure the land that Nelson’s nonprofit is raising money to purchase! But they both lose an important magical artifact and are forced to work together to get their possessions back.
I loved the quest style plot. The various locations they went to were intriguing. And the romance, though fade to black, was well written. They were definitely an opposites attract couple!
I found the character of Miriam hard to like. But I think that’s because characters in finance are typically heartless, douchey jerks. And at the beginning she kind of fit the stereotype. But as she opened her heart to Nelson, she softened. And it became evident that a lot of her persona was projected to be able to get ahead in a misogynistic industry. I loved her character growth and how she accepted herself for who she really was in the end.
I found this book fascinating and unusual. A great indie romance.
Thank you to @Netgalley and @mjetkindauthor for the chance to review this ARC.

Can we talk about how cute this cover is?! This was a really fun and cozy romcom book that gave me full on cute Hallmark Movie vibes. This is a great opposites attract, childhood frenemies and closed door romance read. The little adventure that both Miriam and Nelson go on to find their lost items is full of magic, entertaining banter and fun chaos. I love how both Miriam and Nelson's characters perfectly complement each other all the way down to their polar opposite magical abilities. I do wish that the magic system was explained in a little more depth and that the slow burn wasn’t as slow, but they didn’t impact how much I enjoyed this story. I definitely recommend this book to snuggle up with on your next cozy weekend in!

"I've always thought about you. Back when we were in school, you were so determined to do everything on your own. You were fiercely independent, and I admired that about you. I still do."
This book pulled me in from the very beginning and I liked how the book started with an earlier event and this is how we were introduced to Miriam's rival Nelson. Trigger warnings for chapter 10 for overdose, but the author does a great job with the warning at the beginning of the book.
- Larry the black fluffy cat
- New York Coven called 'Witches of Wall Street"
- Traveling/runaway broomsticks
- Academic/Workplace Rivals
- Tension
- Spice but mostly fade to black
I loved the romance and the book was fun and whimisical and I loved all the shenanigans Miriam and Nelson got into!
Thank you so much to M.J. Etkind and NetGalley for this ARC!

Not my usual type of novel, but kept me reading to the end, all the same.
A fun concept- witches walk among us - done a little differently, and definitely leaving room for more.
The lead character certainly learned some life lessons, so it would be interesting to see where these might take her, should the author feel like it.

A second chance enemies to lovers romance. A quick and cozy romance great for a weekend read!
Tropes such as
enemies to lovers
black cat and golden retriever

3.5 🌟
I do not regret reading this book, and do think it could easily be a 4+ with some fine tuning of the plot and FMC.The Witch of Wall Street is a perfectly fine book to read.
While it has a fun story line it could be tuned up to be engaging and captivating. Instead it kind of meanders along without punch.
The secondary cast of characters are lovely and vivid. They provoke strong responses varying from dislike to affection. The side characters can’t make up for the FMC though. Miriam was a boss lady who tried to come off as a feminist but was really a self centered hyper independent pick me. It was hard to read her perspective at times and took away from a promising plot. While she had growth it was glossed over.

4.5⭐️
This was such a cute book! I will say I initially had a hard time getting into the story, but things eventually started picking up and I couldn’t wait to find out what trouble Miriam and Nelson were going to get themselves into. I totally related to Miriam’s personality. Her magic is chaotic, but she’s also kind of a perfectionist, which I get. Nelson is sweet, but I can see why Miriam was annoyed by him in school. He’s got this altruistic vibe which can come off as conceited, but it’s always meant with good intention.😂 I would say the spice is like PG-13. There are intimate scenes, but the majority of them fade to black. ✨Overall, such a fun, magical read!✨

I so enjoyed this book. It had a cute and original plot line and the characters are awesome. I also really like the witches in the real world (if you exist, please reveal yourselves to me). I would definitely read more of this.
Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review

This was a fun, witchy, and cozy read for a cold winter night. If you are looking for a quick and fun read then this is the book for you.

A cute story about two (semi-childhood-rivals) witches coming together as adults to overcome challenges and find lost, all leading to love. There were times I found myself struggling to pay attention but overall it was a cute read.

Academic rivals to lovers, he falls first, grumpy x sunshine, all set up in a magical world (but mostly new york city)
We follow Miriam who is a witch, part of a financial team. Nelson has been her rival since high school, and is a wizard that focuses on miracles and good deeds. Great witchy romcom!

I received an ARC of The Witch of Wall Street from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
The Witch of Wall Street is a cute, cozy fantasy with witches and magic woven into the corporate world. Add tropes like he falls first, golden energy, enemies to lovers, etc., and you have a pretty typical fantasy rom. What sets it apart is its world-building and the characters. One character’s magic is chaotic while the other is very controlled, and they have to work together for a common purpose while navigating the opposites-attract pitfalls our long-time rivals encounter.
Although this story has a fast-paced plot, the pace of the overall story is enjoyable and engaging.

This is a really sweet witchy rom com that avoids a lot of the cliches (small town, FMC with a big family yearning for independence) by setting the story in the finance world of New York, focusing on a successful businesswoman longing instead for community! To begin with, I found the writing a little simplistic, but I was quickly drawn into the developing romance between the leads. I loved the matter-of-fact Jewish rep, which was built in seamlessly to both leads' backgrounds and thoughts, and the multi-cultural magic of New York was a real treat too. Overall, this was a lovely read!

3.5 Stars for this cute and whimsical love story. I liked the cozy, chaotic elements of the story and felt the characters were quite relatable. I work in a male dominated field, so I can relate to many of her struggles.

I had high hopes for this book and while it started pretty slow, I’m happy I stuck with it. The story did feel pretty repetitive at times and I definitely think it could have used a good edit to cut down some of the fluff. After I got through the initial slow start it was easy to finish.
I also feel that the author hasn’t really mastered show-don’t-tell; every little thought was explained when the reader could easily understand and come to a conclusion (especially when discussing capitalism and morally gray areas Miriam and Nelson discussed). It felt a little like a classroom lecture rather than actual conversations educated people would have. Miriam and Nelson were clearly both intelligent, so I didn’t really feel the need to explain every little thing unless the author really believes her readers need it explained to them.
Miriam and Nelson were good characters and I felt like I understood them, but I did get frustrated with Miriam disliking him so much in the beginning. Why did she hate him so much in school? I feel like she was really misinterpreting his kindness, which maybe would he understandable if he was more smug, but I just think that wasn’t fleshed out enough.
Overall, I thought it was a sweet and fun book and I would recommend if someone wanted an easy read.

Miriam is an investment banker witch working on a giant, life changing morally grey (at best) deal at work. Nelson is the witch managing the nonprofit that will suffer. He's also her high school rival. After one night together, they end up on a quest that takes them all over the place.
I LOVED the magic - Miriam's chaos and Nelson's small miracles. I enjoyed Miriam's acceptance of her magic.
I love books about witches, and this was no exception. It was so different than any others that I've read before - I absolutely recommend it!
