First, a huge thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for allowing me to review the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This book was cute and genuinely I enjoyed reading it, but it kind of came across as very overwrought with trying to tackle so many societal issues within such a whimsical and cozy romance. It almost seems like the author felt guilty setting her story within a city that does have such depth of experience, and tried to acknowledge and address every shortcoming of society, while doing this romp around a city. I think that she would have been much more successful if she kept her narrative to addressing the issues in society that interact directly with her characters instead of pushing so many agendas that the story gets lost in the mix. Also, this seemed like a missed opportunity to use the magic of a city like New York to bring a grounded beauty to her world building and their romance. Overall, not a bad read, but it was slow on the pick up and I never felt I could get fully lost in the book.

Cute and chaotic! I enjoyed that while a romance, this story took on capitalism and corporate greed in a mostly lighthearted unassuming way. Miriam is a successful independent woman and I enjoyed her realization that she could still be all those things while allowing herself to ask for help from those around her when things are too much for one person.

The Witch of Wall Street was a good read.
Tropes include:
-Found Family
-Questioning Morality
-Workplace Feeling and Dilemmas
I was honestly expecting the romance to be more muted, and not as "horny". Yes they are both consenting adults and can do what they want, but in some scenarios it was very abrupt like you turned on a horny switch mid sentence.
The magic and backstory of the characters were well thought out and it was very fun to quest around for their missing items and learn more about their past and what magical creatures or people hide in the open.

Miriam - an investment banker in NYC - lands the lead on a high stakes project. Sealing the deal would be life changing for her and her parents, but the moral dilemma presses on her mind. She attends a fundraising event and runs into a childhood aquaintance, Nelson, who also happens to be leading the non-profit that her project will affect. After spending the evening together, her broomstick and his magical taxi medallion go missing, along with her bag containing the confidential project information.
Reluctantly, they team up to find their things.
The pair go on a series of magical adventures in the search for their missing items, and run into several magical mishaps.
Will Miriam's chaos magic, and confusing feelings for her "high school nemesis" get in the way of her closing this deal? Will she learn new things about her city and have a change of heart? Or will Miriam decide to girl boss her way to the top ignoring morality and romance?
Find out in this wonderful story of magic and mayhem!
I thought this was a really fun reading. As a woman in finance, I loved to see Miriam and Hannah and the other Witches of Wall Street.
I can totally relate to her feeling of being left behind with her friends being in different phases of life.
I thought it was really sweet to learn Nelson's perspective of Miriam & his motive for helping her. Which Miriam has always sees as annoying or judging.
This story has sweet moments, funny moments, sad moments, and nerve-wracking moments. Overall I definitely recommend it, if you like a good witchy, magical realism, forced proximity & reluctant ally story!

Thank you so much for giving me the chance to read the witch of Wall Street I absolutely love the whole book it was perfect and the way it written was mind blowing I need more of your books at this point cause I was hooked.

I DNF'd this book at 41% (103/329 pages). While I was initially excited to read this, because I love paranormal stories, I was disappointed.
The Pros: The book showcases adequate to decent writing ability. It was easy to read and understand. The premise and plot made sense, overall. The magical elements were quite enjoyable. I love the inclusion of a cat, though he did not play a primary role.
Reasons for the DNF:
Firstly, this book, so far as I read, included a lot of preachy, political monologue. If I wanted to read a book about politics or political opinions and ethics, I would NOT have chosen to pick up a paranormal romance. I prefer books in which the characters beliefs / values / attributes are subtly incorporated through their actions, rather than through long-winded inner monologue.
Secondly, I wasn't able to like / connect with the MFC. She irritated me - she acts rude and ungrateful to those who try to be nice to / help her. I do realize this is a opportunity for character growth and development, so it's a petty reason. I have trouble connecting with and liking characters who start out like this.
I wish we were allowed half stars. I'd give 3.5 stars. Sadly, this one didn't quite hit - for me.

I really enjoyed this book and ended up reading it in one sitting! It was such an easy read, and the story kept me hooked the entire time. It’s different from what I normally pick up, but I loved the unique take on witches in a modern world. The blend of magic and contemporary life was so well done, and the writing itself was excellent. I’d definitely read more from this author in the future!

3/5!
The Witch of Wall Street follows Miriam and Nelson who both are magical on a journey to find some lost magical items in New York.
Sadly the writing style just wasn’t for me, mainly I wasn’t too big of a fan when the two main characters first slept together as it didn’t have much of a lead up for me and it felt like it was put in just to get the plot moving without much thought. I am very much a slow burn lover, so if you are not this may be fine for you!
Sometimes there was too much explanation on small things and not enough explanation on the bigger plot points.
Overall I thought the concept was great, however a few tweaks and more editing would’ve made the book even better.

A broom and a cab medallion go for an adventure in the Tri-State area together while their owners, a chaos witch and a wizard who can make small miracles happen, have to navigate their feelings, their jobs, and a lot of dumplings. What could go wrong? Without giving away more, The Witch of Wall Street was a lot of fun and watching Miriam and Nelson navigate all of this together made for a great book. Miriam is a Wall Street banker questioning her morals and what lengths she would go to in order to become Partner and Nelson is the CEO of Housing Magic, trying to save the less fortunate of New York City one apartment at a time. This book questions what is the most important thing in the world, and what our deepest desires really are. There are some tough topics in this book, but it is possible to avoid the hardest chapter without missing anything in the book. Overall, I think people will love this romance!

This book was everything I needed, other than a few typos. The story was fun and engaging, but also included a lot of self discovery and embracing who you are and being okay with who you are and loving yourself instead of trying to be what everyone else wants. It was a perfect hug of a book.
This is 4 stars instead of 5 though because there some remarks made by Miriam (a woman) that were kind degrading to other woman.

Miriam Blum, Wall Street investment banker and chaos witch, was just offered the lead role on a transaction which, if successful, could boost her entire career at Alchemy Partners. The transaction, however, would leave Housing Magic, a non-profit organization with a "housing first" approach to homelessness, with 500 fewer apartments for community members in need. Miriam attempts to assuage her moral dilemma by attending a Housing Magic fundraiser where she bumps into her high school nemesis and golden boy, Nelson Copperfield...who is not only a magic practitioner, but also the executive director of this NPO. After one spontaneous night together, Miriam's broomstick and Nelson's taxi medallion run off together, foiling their plans at never seeing each other again. Miriam and Nelson must work together to locate their primary modes of transportation while Miriam's guilt about her work project suddenly becomes incredibly personal.
The Witch of Wall Street was a really entertaining read but ultimately not for me. The plot had SO MUCH potential, but something about the pacing of the romance and resolution of the main conflict felt a little off. What I did like were discussions of the impact of systemic homelessness and how the author handled addiction. These teachable moments from Nelson were critical aspects of Miriam's character development and they were truly handled with care. But Miriam, girly pop, you should have changed your tune about continuing with this work project so much sooner than you did! I wanted to love this one so much because the plot is really clever, but it ended up falling a little flat for me.
2.5 rounded up to 3 stars
I received a complimentary eARC of this book from the author via NetGalley. All opinions are honest and my own.

Thank you Netgalley and M.J. Etkind for providing me with an ARC!
This was my first book by this author, and I’m so glad I picked it up! I really enjoyed it!! It was the perfect cozy read for my relaxing mornings.
The story follows Miriam, a witch of Wall Street, and Nelson, her old nemesis and the ever-charming golden boy. When Miriam reconnects with Nelson, their magical items mysteriously disappear, sending them on an unexpected magical quest through New York City.
I absolutely adored the dynamic between Nelson and Miriam and how their relationship evolved. Miriam was such a relatable character, and her super cute cat Larry, who honestly became my favorite fictional pet! He reminded me so much of my own cat, haha.
I also loved how Miriam often pointed out the weirdness of magic, making it feel more realistic since she questioned it too. And Nelson? He absolutely captured my heart. At first, I was skeptical about his personality, but he completely won me over as the story progressed.
I’d really recommend this to anyone looking for a cute, cozy, and magical read!

This rivals to lovers has adventure, romance, and one big problem. The problem is Miriam is part of the finance team that is going to ruin Nelson’s plans to house the low income/homeless people of New York. She is strong, independent, and career-minded to the core. She never thought about love or romance and weekends were meant for even more work.
But, Miriam is passionate about helping her parents. She wants to be able to help them retire. She likes Nelson’s housing plan. But, she is caught in a tough position of doing the right thing for work and or doing the right thing in the name of humanity and love.
This was a quick read, and I absolutely loved that even though Miriam was brilliant, and great at her job. She would much rather spend time watching TV and her cat while eating mint chip ice cream. Her magic was of the chaotic kind, and it made the adventure that much more fun.
If you are looking for a romance between rivals that have reunited, where he falls first, and they have adventures all over the Big Apple and New Jersey, this is for you.

The Witch of Wall Street is a lighthearted, entertaining read with a bit of spice and supernatural elements. Going into the book, I was attracted to the supernatural romance premise. From the start, though, I felt distracted by pacing issues. I found a lot of excessive explanations and felt like parts of the novel read like YA.
I appreciated that the characters were written with flaws, which made them feel more authentic and relatable. When it comes to romance, I feel the main leads lack the push-and-pull that is crucial when it comes to rivals/enemies-to-lovers. Overall, I really wanted to like this, but the execution wasn’t quite there and I struggled to finish.

The Witch of Wall Street* pleasantly surprised me! This book struck a perfect balance between being a nice, easy read and tackling some hard-hitting real-world topics, all with just a touch of magic. I saw so much of myself in both Miriam and Nelson—Miriam’s fierce independence and reluctance to ask for help, and Nelson’s selfless desire to support everyone around him, sometimes to his own detriment. The blend of magic with the real world was seamless, adding just the right amount of whimsy to an otherwise grounded story. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, and I’m happy to give it 4 stars!

Bewitched meets Wall Street!
Absolutely loved this cute witchy romcom. This is the first books I have ever read by M.J. Etkind and let me tell you I am so ready to read more! 😍
When an unexpected wooing leads to a chaotic magical mishap Miriam and Nelson must embark on a paranormal quest around New York. Jam packed with Jinns, dumplings and poisonous leather shops. Who will fall first? There is only one way to find out. So come on down to Wall Street and be enchanted with what a little bit of magic and love can do.

The Witches of Wall Street follows Miriam, an ambitious witch working in finance, who reconnects with Nelson, her high school rival. Together, they’re unwillingly thrown into a magical quest around New York.
I requested this ARC because it seemed right up my alley (plus, the cover is cute), and I want to thank NetGalley and MJ Etkind for providing me with an early copy. Unfortunately, the book didn't quite meet my expectations.
The story has its moments. Initially, I found it a bit slow and repetitive, but it gets a little better after a few chapters. Miriam and Nelson’s struggles are relatable, and I appreciate the author’s attempt to address tougher issues like addiction. Writing about it must have been challenging.
With a little more editing, this could have been a charming and fun witchy romance. What ultimately made me rate this below average were the comments about women, particularly housewives. There’s an entire rant justifying why it’s only okay for the FMC to wear makeup (it’s a "necessary evil" for work purposes), but the worst part for me was reading that the FMC could never be a housewife because they have “no identities.”
I genuinely did not expect that from a book published in 2025 and I'm baffled that women continue to be judged and belittled for choosing what they want to do with their lives. If I hadn’t committed to reading and providing honest feedback, I would have DNFed it.

A cozy, romantic book filled with chaos magic and small miracles.
I really enjoyed reading this. From the delicious food descriptions that made me DEEPLY crave spring rolls. To the silliness and cute romance. To the serious topics blended seamlessly into the story. It all pulled together into a great story.
I generally gravitate towards a more slow-burn romance in the stories I read, so I will admit that I felt the romance moved a little too fast for my personal tastes. Having said that, I do think it worked really well in this book, and set up the story nicely.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of The Witch of Wall Street by M.J. Etkind!
4 stars!
Minimal spice, mostly fade to black
Content warning: addiction, overdose
Favourite lines: "Romance was a myth perpetuated by the patriarchy to keep women in terrible relationships," and, "All the men she'd dated were experts in domestic incompetence."
I have to start this by saying that I really enjoyed this magical urban romance. M.J. did a really wonderful job of immersing me into a magical New York filled with witches, jinns, other magical creatures (including mer folk who frequent Montauk/the Hamptons), broomsticks, and a warming grump X sunshine romance.
The Plot
The plot centres around Miriam and Nelson galivanting around New York - using regular modes of transport, much to their chagrin - to find their missing magical items and Miriam's incriminating paperwork that could <spoiler> undermine Nelson's deal to secure 500 apartments </spoiler>. All the while, both Nelson and Miriam are struggling with ethical and moral dilemmas in their workplaces, revolving around big corporate and capitalism. I enjoyed the discourse around finding a voice and a way forward when you feel like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place in a capitalist society. The romance was also believable! Thank you M.J. Etkind for writing a compelling romance that actually made sense! I swooned a little bit when Miriam realised she wanted Nelson to take care of her!
The FMC
Miriam: a 30-something chaos witch who kicks butt as an investment banker for more hours of the day than any reasonable person should. And she likes to ride her broom above New York, like the queen that she is. Miriam is kinda grumpy and likes to be in control, which is in total contrast to her nature as a chaos witch. She keeps people at a distance, including her coven of similarly like-minded career-focused witches, and tries to do everything herself. Until a tryst with a certain witch frenemy from her childhood leads to her broom magicking itself away and a quest around New York to find it, along with her handbag and confidential files that could ruin a blossoming relationship with said frenemy...
The MMC
Nelson: a 30-something witch who can magic small miracles with a hero complex. Nelson is kind of a ray of sunshine, which pairs really well with Miriam's grumpy outlook. He's also annoyingly perfect, which grates on Miriam's carefully controlled persona. He's a social worker who helps ex-felons, addicts, the disenfranchised find housing, treatment, and employment. So, the total package, really. He's working on securing 500 apartments for those in need when he runs into Miriam and the two share a... passionate encounter, before her chaos magic spirits away his beloved magical taxi medallion.
The cat
Shout out to Larry, Miriam's 17 pound cat who acts like he's never been fed a day in his life despite getting kibble and wet food multiple times a day.
I knocked one star off because I felt like Talia, the character who OD'd, was just kind of forgotten about, or was used as a means to expedite Miriam's relationship with Nelson. Passages on addiction and the overdose itself were written with care and empathy, but it kind of just fell off the page, with one brief mention relating to a safe-use centre, but no real closure.
Overall, this is a great non-cheesy romance novel with a twist and a happy ending.

I really enjoyed this book, A chaos witch who was really relatable and an MMC who is just such a sweet golden retriever type was perfect. It was really interesting to see how the magic worked and the distinctions between the different types of magics there are. This kind of lore is always very interesting and it was written very well and kept the reader hooked and wanting to know more.
