A whole new exciting take on post apocalypse! Humans with bird DNA! Flying is something we all have wished for at one time or another. When River and Delene are trying their best to survive in a world their attraction to each other gets tested. Awesome characters and a most exciting story! Thanks #Netgalley and #Businessbooks for the eARC in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are mine. I want more!

In this world, a new kind of humans exist. Evo-humans, forced evolutions, a mix between human and bird dna. The result? People who can fly on wings high into the sky without problems, they're faster and stronger than humans, and their blood has many resistances to diseases and most importantly, the plagues. Humans use it for blood transfusions to keep themselves healthy, much to the new humans detriment. This world, the world we know is long over, leaving behind a post apocalyptic world. All because of a new plague. And the old humans? Have mostly hunted the Evo-humans to extinction.

River and Delene, our two main characters, feel like they're the only two left. Surviving on wildlife and scraps leftover from people long gone in the cities, Delene is one day snatched away from the life she knows and pulled into an underground testing facility, with her older sister. She escapes, but without her sister, and unknowingly lands herself in River's nest. This is the beginning of a wholesome relationship between the two, just trying to survive in the wilderness.

I absolutely loved this book, and I can say easily it's one of my new favourites. Not only is the relationship cute and wholesome, there's no explicit scenes, making this story safe for all older audiences. My favourite part was when they learned they weren't alone anymore, and the story overall really wrapped up nicely. It's easy to read, easy to get into, and the characters are easy to get to know and easy to love. Definitely recommend checking it out if you have the chance, and it's one of those books where you wish there was more but it has such a nice ending you don't feel cheated.

I'm usually not a scifi or YA reader but I really enjoyed this one. I had fun learning about the characters as they grew. It made the ending more impactful,. That you got to go on a journey with them and see their progress. It was beautifully written with short chapters. It didn't feel like it was skipping parts either. I think the publishers should target their sales towards Teens and YA as this book seemed to fit more of that criteria. Also it read a little bit like Shatter Me but in a good way.

Thank you to the publisher and author for sending me this copy.

I am rating this 4 stars. I love the romance between Delene and River and that no matter what happened they would try to save and protect each other. .

I loved when River decided to let Delene stay and started teaching her how to survive better than her parents did and how he helped her heal when her wing was hurt. I also loved when he snuck into the lab both times to save her even when he knew it would be dangerous.

I loved when Delene went back for her sister even when she knew it was super risky and could get her unalived. I also loved how at the beginning of the book Delene outsmarted Cameron on multiple occasions to try to escape and he fell for it every time.

All in all it was a pretty good read and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Rating-
3.5/5 stars

Genre-
Dystopian

Age Rating For It-
13 and up just because there's a little bit explained into people dying from forcefully being captured and used to help cure the humans because the main characters are the products of genetic splicing of different genes. And because of that it made them stronger and immune to a big disease and there blood helps cure the disease so they are hunted down so they can be used to help people against there will. The romance in it though is very cute and innocent, with just some kissing and a lot of cuddling and stuff like that.

Tropes-
Highstakes
Fmc gets injured and mmc helps her
Major disease killing people
Fmc and mmc are hunted

Thoughts/Would I Recommend This?-
I don’t know why, but I just didn’t love this book. I felt that there was just something missing from it that could have made it better in my opinion. The romance was cute and all, I just didn’t love it and how it came to be a romance and stuff. I just felt here was something off about it that made me not love it as much as I could have. I do think though that other people would like this more than me, and I may just be being weird or something about it. But, I think if you are looking for a dystopian with a cute light romance than I would totally recommend this!

This book was actually so good! Delene and River gave me a bit of shatter me vibes but with angels. It definitely got me back in the mood to read more dystopian romance kind of stories.
