I give some leeway for new adult/college romances. There will be some naïveté/immaturity involved. But I did not like the constant repetitiveness of female “butterflies” to symbolize the end all and be all for relationships. And I absolutely did not like the cheating aspects of the book, especially turning the girlfriend into a shrew so it’s ok to move on to the fmc. I’ll place bets that Jackson makes nobody’s book boyfriend. 🙄

I got to 40% in and I had to DNF. the characters got on my nerves and the stupid love triangle was so weird.

My Butterflies by B. Evans is a compelling YA romance taking place at a university campus with Tess and Jaxon being the main heroes of the story. I've had the opportunity to read it via audiobook format with Laura Horowitz and Gregory Salina as the narrators. Both narrators have perfectly captured the emotional ups and downs of the characters' evolving relationship.
The story follows Tessa, a college senior dealing with past trauma, and Jaxon, a student and a musician battling his own demons. Their connection is instantly, but they face numerous obstacles, including existing relationships and their personal struggles. Themes like grief, toxic relationships, and addiction are part of the storyline.
The narrators have effectively portrayed Tessa's vulnerability and growing character, and Jaxon's broody exterior and hidden pain. The narrator's performance makes the story impactful and totally immersive, making the reader/ listener fully invested in the characters' journey.
Warning this story concludes on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to eagerly want the next book.

This book was such an emotional rollercoaster but I loved every second of it. Gregory and Laura did such a fantastic job as Jaxon and Tessa. Not only do their voices pair so fantastically together but the emotions they bring really bring out the depth of the story and scene. The audiobook is done in dual style and the book is in dual POV. Gregory & Laura seamlessly take on each of the characters of their chapters and really made this story come to life. I was hooked from the first chapter.
This book follows Tessa and Jaxon. Tessa or Tessa who had recently transferred to a new school to finish our her senior year when she runs into her neighbor and his cute best friend Jaxon. Their connection and their shared similar experiences make it such an interesting dynamic between them. Plus, give the fact they both obviously like each other but are in their own respective relationships.
This book had everything I could have wanted and more.
- Mutual Pining
- Forbidden Love
- Singing MMC
- loveable FMC
- heartbreak
- shared Trauma
After the ending i'm so ready and looking forward to the next book. I can't wait to see what happens!
Thank you NetGalley for this ALC!

I don’t know if I have ever been so frustrated by a book as I was this one. I would scream at some of the characters, wishing that I could leap into the pages and shake them. I say that because I absolutely loved this book. I felt that you could connect so well with the characters that I fell in love with the main characters and even some of the side characters. I felt so much rage at times. The true sign of a good book is one that invokes passion, and this one definitely did that for me. One its surface, it seems like a simple contemporary romance, but it really just struck something deep inside of me. I thought it was very well written and my biggest complaint is that it ended on a cliffhanger. At the end, I let out the biggest sigh of frustration because I wanted to know the fate of the characters.
My heart completely broke for all that Tessa had been through. She was a great person that suffered through some tragedy and worked very hard to keep her life together. All she wanted was to have a connection with the person she was with. She felt that connection with her friend. She felt butterflies. And even though she didn’t feel that with Isaac, she tried so hard to be happy with him. Jaxson was the most infuriating. He had a reason and I understand that. But it didn’t make it anymore irritating.
I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version of this and I thought that the narrators did a fantastic job. Their voices were dynamic and never caused me to lose focus. They helped pull me into this story, and I would definitely listen to other books that they narrate for. Half of keeping my interest in an audiobook is the way that it is narrated and for this book, the narrator did a wonderful job of keeping me engaged in the story.
I was such a big fan of this book. It is only part one and it ends with a cliffhanger, so I can’t wait to listen to book 2. I am so invested with what happens with these characters. The spice is on the lower side, but there wasn’t once where I was craving more. I would definitely recommend this book and have to say that the audiobook is worth it for thosae that prefer that medium.

I love how this book brings to light that it isn’t just women who go through trauma and the battles of abuse. This book was an emotional roller coaster ride!

I really enjoyed this audio book. It had my emotions all over the place though. As someone who has loved another with a drug problem, this really hit my heart. But that ending…I AM NOT OKAY!
The friendship that grew between Tessa and Jaxon was pure and real. They both had stronger feelings for one another, but since he was in a complicated relationship they didn’t cross those lines. They both were there for one another when they needed them the most. The book was a slow burn, but I loved that it allowed us to watch the friendship and love that the two had for one another grow. I feel like we needed it and the character building to get to where the story was going.
My heart broke for Jaxon and everything he had to go through with his girlfriend. I hated her and wanted to scream at him for not seeing who she really was and what she was doing. But I’ve been there, so I understood.
And Tessa, ughhhhh… I cried for her. She deserves the world and I am so damn mad at Jaxon with that ending. I was SCREAMING!!! I am not okay with it at all. I need the next book now please.

Laura and Gregory freaking nailed it. They sucked me in right away and had me hooked from the beginning. I found myself looking for more audios that they have done and I can’t wait to listen to more. They captured the emotion of both characters and it was just done so well.

Wow, B. Evans. All the drama and angst I've been wanting. The slow burn was brutal. But that cliffhanger was worse. Patiently waiting for book 2!!
Narrrated in dual by Laura Horowitz and Gregory Salinas. Great performance.

I have been loving audiobooks so when I seen this one I definitely hopped into it. This book has great mental health representation and the details to emotions are so real. I loved all the small things that go into a writers plot and Evan’s definitely left no stone unturned. SUCH A GOOD READ.

This is my first audiobook from netgalley and it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed listening to the book and will be buying the physical copy here soon!

Ok hear me out if you enjoy a slow slow slow burn this is the book for you. The tension between the main characters is chef’s kiss, I just wish they had gotten together sooner. I am also not a huge fan of small chapters, however I loved the dual POV. As an audio book I loved the narrators. They definitely brought the story to life. Be warned it is a series, so it ends in a huge cliff hanger. I am excited to read the second one.

Audio Review 3.5 ⭐️
Dual Narration by Laura Horowitz and Gregory Salinas
Friends to lovers
College age
Rock band singer x soccer player
Love triangle of sorts
Tragic history
Slow Burn
My feelings have been all over the place with this book! It has some great moments but there are elements of cheating as both Jaxon and Tessa are dating other people for 70% of the book. I was expecting that to be resolved way sooner! Jax was one I liked but didn’t always love and hated how he felt trapped and couldn’t stand up to Brooke and walk away while having feelings for Tessa. There were times what was going on was repetitive especially with tutoring and class etc but it did help build a solid friendship between Jax and Tessa. I am invested in their story now and want to know what happens when book 2 drops.
Narration by Laura Horowitz and Gregory Salina’s was well done and felt like they were a great fit for the cast. Appreciated how they really brought on the emotionally charged chapters. The pain, disappointment, sadness about events both past and present could be felt

Wow. I just finished this book and I’m literally left speechless. I loved this story from the very beginning. I connected with the characters and couldn’t wait to keep reading. I was already looking forward to book 2 before realizing that this book was going to end on a cliffhanger. It really is like when your favorite show comes to the end of a season and your like - wait!!! I need more!!! This is the first book written by B. Evans that I’ve read, but it definitely won’t be my last. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrators as well. I would like to thank Platinum Rose Publishing LLC and NetGalley for giving me an ARC (which did not sway my opinions or review). 🦋

Dual POVs and narrated in dual narration.
I absolutely love Laura Horowitz & Gregory Salinas!!! They are amazing narrators and this does not disappoint!
It is VERY IMPORTANT that the love triangle aspects of this book be brought to the readers.
B. Evans packs in the angst in this one. It ends on a cliffhanger.

The story follows the lives of Tessa and Jax. They both have a magnetic pull to each other, but Jax is in a relationship. As their friendship grows, so do the butterflies in their stomachs when they are both together. They have both suffered from tragic loss, and both are able to understand the pain they have both been through, bringing them even closer together. The main characters are both likeable, but Jax's behaviour at the end of the book is upsetting.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but be warned, it ends on a massive cliffhanger, and now I eagerly await the second book!

I got the chance to review this audiobook/book by B. Evans via NetGalley, and I’m not gonna lie—the cover and title totally sucked me in. 😅 But after reading the description, I *knew* this was going to be my kind of story. My butterflies had me in a chokehold! 🦋 The twists, the turns, the drama, the messiness—all wrapped up in Jax and Tessa’s forbidden love that somehow felt *so* right.
I definitely got all the butterflies... but Jax’s handling of Brooke? Ugh, drove me *up* the wall. Like, grow some balls, my dude! 🙄 That cliffhanger though? It hurts, but it just means the anticipation for the next book is going to be *that* much sweeter. 🍬 Props to B. Evans for her debut novel! I’m already looking forward to more. 👏

I really enjoyed this cute small college romance, wasn’t expecting it to end on a cliffhanger! The audio on your ears was like having a hot chocolate, curled up under a blanket with an fire going and a storm outside - yes it was that cozy
Spoilers alert
Tessa meets Jaxon and it’s lust at first sight for both of them, but Jaxon has a girlfriend. They end up in the same class that Tessa is struggling with and Jaxon ends up tutoring her. Through the term they get to know each other well as friends and bond over shared trauma . Jaxon relationship with Brook has been rocky for quite some time and their friendship causes more problems.
Did I mention that Jaxon is the lead singer of the band the rocks out every Friday evening at the only good place near to campus!!

I don't even know what to say about this book. I was frustrated the whole time that I was reading it and didn't enjoy it after everything started getting extremely repetitive. Both of the main characters were obsessed with each other, while also dating other people, acknowledging they needed to break up with their significant others, and then still refusing to, and dragging it out. Honestly, it went back and forth like that for so long, that I just lost interest. The rest of the book read like a poorly written fanfiction between a girl and her favorite rockstar as if he was a singer in an unknown band. There was also insta-lust in the first chapter and the chemistry was basically non-existent and there was absolutely no build up to that, and when they finally get together, it was not done well. The narrator was the only reason why I didn't give this book a 1 star rating.
Thank you to Platinum Rose Publishing and NetGalley for the audioARC of this book. This is my honest review.

" My Butterflies" by B Evans is the first novel in the "Butterflies" series, setting in motion an emotional journey that will grab you by the heart.
A deep-seated struggle and vulnerability create an unexpected bond between Jaxon and Tessa when fate intertwines their lives. As the story unfolds, the warmth of friendship and a strong sense of family that surrounds the main characters brings everything to life.
In their breathtaking performances, Gregory Salinas and Laura Horowitz masterfully bring Tessa and Jaxon to life. Greg's portrayal of Jaxon captures his raw emotions and internal struggles, while Laura's portrayal of Tessa conveys her internal conflicts and determination.
There is a sense of longing left in the ending of "My Butterflies." I'm looking forward to learning more about Jaxson and Tessa's journey in the next instalment.

The AUDACITY of that ending!
Tell me book two is available tomorrow 😭
I really enjoyed the angsty bond they had. The connection that felt inevitable yet forbidden. It was a bit too much at times, and I don't mean heavy, I mean girl, chill out. This is a very addictive story and such an easy read. It's not something you have to heavily remember names or places and it flows well 🫠
