Audie Palmer was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He has been in prison for ten years for his role in a bank robbery. His brother, Cal, has not been seen in all those years except for the unconfirmed rare spotting in various places across the globe. On the night before his release, Audie escapes and goes to Sheriff Ryan Valdez’ house. He speaks to Sandy, his wife and her son, Max. Valdez hears about this and calls in the FBI. Special Agent Desiree Furness is assigned to the case. What she lacks in height, she makes up in spunk. Moss Webster, a prisoner in the cell next to Audie, is released from prison under shady circumstances to find Audie. Apparently, everyone believes Audie is going after the bank robbery money and they all want a piece.

The book has a fast pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. The author has a way of captivating readers and keeping us sitting on the end of our collective seats. I had no idea what to expect when I started this book but I was immediately drawn in. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

A gripping thriller with a bit of a difference. An interesting protagonist, readers will root for Audie Palmer and his mission. Robotham's writing is excellent, and the pacing and plot will keep you reading well into the night. Recommended.
