This was a sweet, funny short book. With all the best tropes. She's a firecracker and he's a golden retriever. I personally couldn't imagine giving up my best friend just because he was drafted by a team that I didn't like, but I get it. Ice hockey fans are different. The soft enemies to lovers was a great touch and the force proximity/only one bed was hilarious. However, the plot was a little weak. It's a quick read when you need something light and fun. I look forward to reading more Toronto Nighthawks.

Big thanks to NetGalley, Kobo originals and Melissa Williams for a copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Standard hockey/sports romance, with nothing too remarkable, but a good escape read (which is why I typically pick this genre). If you enjoy sports romance, then this one will deliver on that front.

I really enjoyed seeing the characters progress in this story. The story was well paced and well written. I was hooked from the beginning and devoured it in just a few sittings.

An enemies to lovers romance, the story of Sabrina and Max. Childhood best friends and next door neighbors, and now haven't spoken for ten years. When her job puts her in his path will it be he chance? A fun read, looking forward to the next books in this series.

Hockey pucks and second chances...

I really liked this quick hockey read. Sabrina is a good sports reporter who has earned a promotion which she was passed over for twice for incompetent male colleagues. She quits and her last interview is with her former best friend, Max Daws. They were best friends, neighbors and maybe more. But it did not end well and they haven't spoken in a decade. Until they do and when they do a live interview the second time they speak in ten years, it goes viral. I really liked that Max was supportive and protective of Sabrina, who is dramatic and has a big personality to go with her red hair.
Recommend.

This was a fun read! The lack of spice was made up for by the fun dialogue, snarky text banter, and character growth. A sweet, sports romance read.

I really enjoyed this cute friends to enemies to lovers hockey romance with its added forced proximity, „he falls first“ and „it’s always been you“ tropes. The plot is very well written with some LOL moments, witty banter, a bit of steam and very likable characters with plenty of tension and chemistry between them that feels natural and relatable. Max is a swoon-worthy cinnamon roll hero and Sabrina an ambitious woman who wants to assert herself in a male-dominated world. I also liked their relatives and Max‘ teammates and am looking forward to their stories.

When sports reporter Sabrina Sutton is once again passed over for a promotion, she quits her job. At the retirement party of her parents, she runs into her former best friend and current nemesis Max Daws, a pro hockey player for the Toronto Nighthawks with whom she hasn't had contact in years.
Max has been in love with Sabrina since childhood and when he learns that she currently has no job, he organises for her to make a documentary about him to support her and mend their broken relationship...

If you like lighthearted hockey romance novellas with endearing characters, witty banter and a bit of spice, you are sure to enjoy this book!

a brilliant book. a bit of fire. a bit of sass. and then the deeper stuff too. all the good things you want and need in a romance. i whizzed through this one. and could happily read more from this author and shall be googling her as soon as ive written this.
the push me pull me was great. but also the deeper, kinder and more tender moments. you really got the sense of the feeling between these two. ad i was definitely needing them to be together.

I really enjoyed A Little Too Forward, by Melissa Williams. I enjoyed getting to know Sabrina and Max, but I agree with Sadie G whose review said "The book is a quick, lightheaded read, but I do wish it had been longer. I think it could have benefited from diving deeper into the characters' pasts, especially their family dynamics. Since Sabrina and Max were childhood friends, there was definitely potential to explore more of their shared history and how their families influenced their bond. A longer book might have allowed the author to explore that a bit more, which would have added even more depth to their relationship." What you get with this book is so very good, but giving us more would have taken it from a 4 star read to a 5 star read. Just saying, there was missed potential. I still recommend it, just not all I think it could have been. Thank you NetGalley and Melissa Williams for an advanced copy.

A Little Too Forward is a fun, light-hearted romance about Sabrina and Max, two childhood friends who reconnect after years apart. Max helps Sabrina with her career, and she takes care of him when he gets injured, leading to a balanced and easygoing relationship where both characters give as much as they take.

The book is a quick, lightheaded read, but I do wish it had been longer. I think it could have benefited from diving deeper into the characters' pasts, especially their family dynamics. As for the conflict that caused them to stop being friends in the first place, it felt like an overreaction on their part. But since they were teenagers at the time, I can see why it happened and it kinda made sense for their age and the stage of life they were in.

Overall, A Little Too Forward is a sweet, easy romance with great characters and a nice balance between the couple. It’s definitely worth reading if you’re in the mood for something light and enjoyable.

Tropes:
Enemies to lovers
Second chance
One bed
Workplace romance

I loved this. The romance is fiery but deeply emotional, filled with delicious push and pull, and the writing is sharp, electric, and brimming with chemistry. This is the kind of sports romance that doesn’t just skate by on tropes, it owns them, making every moment between Max and Sabrina feel fresh, real, and impossible to put down.

Cute story of a childhood friends, a sports reporter and a professional hockey player. Their friendship ended when he signed a contract with a team and moved away and they haven't spent time together in years even though he's always had a thing for her. They're thrown together when she quits her job and he requests her to interview him for a documentary. I thought this was a cute story but it seemed short -- hard to tell with no page numbers but definitely more novella length. It would have benefited from being a little more fleshed out I thought. The reasons for the end of their friendship were thrown out quite briefly and then resolved almost just as briefly. Still, I'm a sucker for a hockey romance and this one was cute.
