Short, sweet and straight to the point.

Great quick story to take a break between reads.

I like that it was established at the beginning of the book that they know each other for quite awhile so the story as it progresses is feasible and believable.

As expected with this type of story it was predictable but I'll still read it and enjoy it.

Four star read for me.

This was a really cute short novella. It basically had every trope I love: fake dating, forced proximity, and one bed.
I liked the chemistry between the two characters but the tension seemed unrealistic in some spots- maybe just due to the fact that the book was so short.
The spicy scenes were written really well. "I want them to see who you belong too" was my favvvv.

I did find a grammar mistake on page 64. Last paragrpah. The sentence says "making it impossible to anything but take it."

This was a fun fake dating novella with all the other good tropes! It took me less than an hour to read and it was the perfect read for my evening. It's difficult making novellas good since they're not that long but this was exactly what I needed to get out of a reading slump!

"This stopped being an act the moment I kissed you for the first time. Maybe even before that."

Fake It 'Til You Feel It by Fortuna Lux is a fake-dating novella. I thought the book was cute, but I wish it was longer! We didn't really get to feel the chemistry between the pair. Overall, this is a cute and easy read.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Feeling the Fast Read

This was a quick 55 page read with enough context to back up the plot. Nathan and Dana will give you a glimpse into their unexplored office romance in this retreat environment.

A series I would definitely like to see expanded on.

I received a copy of this book from Fortuna Lux. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

This is a very fast paced novella (almost a short story really, it took less than an hour to get through) about Boss and Assistant Nathan and Dana. This is speedy, to the point, and light on plot but extremely enjoyable. Great for a beach read.

Fake It 'Til You Feel It is a short and kind of cute novella, but the length makes it pretty difficult to get any depth from the characters. It's a light and quick read, to be sure, but it's hard to get invested in characters you don't know beyond their names. I think it started off strong with the banter between Dana and Nathan which I found funny and snappy, but the limited plot is a little ridiculous sometimes (the premise for the fake dating and the conclusion). I did like that Nathan understood just how capable and smart Dana is and trusted her with the company, although it was difficult to really explore any of the topics/qualities mentioned in so few pages.

CEO Nathan Clarke is obnoxious, arrogant, demanding and oh so tempting. Dana is his personal assistant. Nathan needs to impress a potential client at a meeting that weekend. He asks Dana to go with him as his pretend girlfriend. Dana agrees to go; with one stipulation they must keep things professional; that’s hard to do when they each have hidden feelings for the other. Before the weekend is over, they realize they are attracted to each other.
This is a fast-paced tale. The characters are likeable. The plot is funny. There are a couple of spicy scenes but nothing too racy. My only complaint is this tale is too short; it left me wanting more. There could have been more information concerning their background. There were a lot of cliches in this tale. The story is told from two points of view. I laughed at some of the antics.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

A fun, short fake dating romance. Set in the workplace, so lots at stake. I liked how it was told from both points of view.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book.

I will confess that I did not realize this was a novella going in. It was too short and fast-paced for there to be any meaningful characterization or development. But if you're looking for an extremely generic fill-in-the-blank imagining of a fake-dating trope or a boss romance, then this is the one for you.

And I'm out.

ARC: 3.5 stars. This was a cute, fast moving short story. I found myself really wanting more, this truly could have been an amazing tension filled novel, and as a short story missed a lot of opportunities.

I enjoyed the book overall. I wish it had been longer and that there had been more character development. I felt there was a lot of room for us to get to know the character more. I also was hoping for a less predictable storyline.

Listen, when a book is marketed as erotica, I expect some heat. Some tension. Some actual action before the final stretch. But this? This was the slowest slow burn that ever slow burned—like waiting for water to boil on low heat.

The beginning and the end? Rushed. Everything in between? Dragged. I was invested, waiting for the moment things would finally ignite, only for these two to get it going on in the second-to-last chapter. SECOND. TO. LAST. CHAPTER. That’s a long time to be left high and dry.

If you’re here for a drawn-out, achingly slow romance where you have to work for a single kiss, this might be your jam. But if you’re looking for actual erotica? Yeah, this ain’t it.

Dana has been working as Nathan’s assistant for years. She is the glue the keeps everything together. Nathan needs to secure a business contract but in order to do so he must present himself as a family man. He enlists the help of his assistant, Dana. What could go wrong?

This has some steam but also a good plot.

Fake It 'Til You Feel It had a lot of potential to be a cute story. It was a lot of fun and I loved the plot, but it was really rushed and left some details in the wind. I know this is a novella, so there isn't as much time for developing.

Some things I didn't love would be how Nathan had made such a huge deal about Dana being such a part of the deal because of how involved she is in the company and projects, but then she wasn't included in any of the business talk. He was also the one that was excited, having the excuse for fake dating to get closer to her, but he spent a lot of time confused about the progression of their relationship. There were also details during the spicy scenes that didn't make a lot of sense. And the end was a little silly, sweet but silly.

What I loved about this book was the story, who doesn't love fake dating? And I loved that they were stuck on a boat together. Even though the characters didn't have a lot of time to develop, it was still clear to see that Dana is strong willed but loyal and Nathan is cocky but caring.

Overall, I had a good time. Novellas are so much fun.

Many thanks to NetGalley and BDA Publishing for providing me with an eARC of Fake It 'Til You Feel It in exchange for my honest review!

The fake-dating trope? Ah yes, what a lovely way to present a rom-com, and it does help me have a solidly charming time with this novella. It deploys the one-bed trope and the workplace trope, too, with the latter especially sticking the landing in a manner that avoids annoying me. Sometimes, that particular cliche can be clumsily handled, but here, I vibe with Dana and Nathan's dynamic as they build up a decent amount of likable chemistry. I do wish I could have learned more about their history together, though, because it ends up feeling like there's a gap of substance that puts a bit of a distance between me and the MCs.

Overall, I'm officially rating Fake It 'Til You Feel It 3.5 out of 5 stars, which I'm rounding down to 3 stars. I'll be looking out for more of Fortuna Lux's writing.

Fake it Til You Feel it is a spicy, quick read but is somehow still a slow burn. When Nathan requests his assistant, Dana, join him for a weekend event to pretend to be his girlfriend, she reluctantly agrees. But will they be able to resist each other once on a boat and sharing a bed?

I will never say no to fake-dating stories haha. Dana and Nathan match so good. They have a good banter going on and their chemistry is sizzling right from the start. This is one of those books that anyone can finish in one sitting. Super quick read!

I would've enjoyed this more if it were longer with more background. I felt like I just got thrown into the ocean without a lifejacket so to speak. The spice was nice though!
