Such a fun translation of Surf's Up! by Kwame Alexander. I knew the story, and found myself taking the perspective of a non-native speaker who must utilize context clues and vocabulary cognates to comprehend the story. The illustrations are fantastic and I love the way the surfer dude frogs find themselves immersed in the story, and one reader inspires another.

This is such a fantastic book to offer a bilingual translation for, and I love that NorthSouth books is offering additional bilingual options. This opens up a whole world for dual-language learners and their parents.

I highly recommend for bilingual schools, libraries, and families that are interested in Spanish-translated books.

This book was such a fun read! Two frog buddies, Cuate and Compa have differing views on whether to go surfing or not. Cuate is dying to go surfing, while Compa is content to stay at home reading his book and finishing it. Especially since it's getting to the most exciting part.

Cuate thinks reading is BORING until Compa tells him that the plot is about the attempt to catch a great white whale, and securing the gold. It is then that Cuate begins to change his mind about reading and gets immersed in the tale.

I enjoyed the story. It's entertaining especially when it seems to refer to Moby Dick novel that can't be put down.

The characters are funny and the illustrations really capture the humor of the book.

As an adult learner of Spanish, I found this book a joy to read. It's the perfect book for early readers looking for something colorful and delightful. Five stars.

I received a DRC from NorthSouth Books through NetGalley. This review is completely my own and reflects my honest thoughts and opinions.
